We're more like feral children being introduced to civilization for the first time.
You don't realize just how loosey-goosey that place was until you start coming somewhere like here or SoxProspects.
I wouldn't displace Buchholz with Kelly yet, given how gawdawful the latter was before going on the DL, and Buch's history of crappy Aprils.
I think we go with Price/Porcello/Wright/Buchholz/Rodriguez once Eddie is ready...stash Kelly in Triple-A on rehab/option and give Buch a chance to right the ship for a few more weeks, at which point we can send him on a mysterious DL trip if he continues to be a liability.
It's not just the ERA, though.
Clay last April had a 2.61 FIP, 2.87 xFIP, and 11.88 K/9 to just 2.88 BB/9 - numbers that foretold the ace-like first half to come.
This month? 5.21 FIP, 5.28 xFIP, 6.18 K/9, 4.23 BB/9. Maybe he'll turn things around, and [insert standard "SSS and it's April" disclaimer], but I've just not seen anything so far from him that inspires confidence.
You all will have to excuse us BDCers, who are used to starting threads about whatever we want: threads about something there's already three threads about, threads about something we started a thread about yesterday, threads about somebody else's threads, threads about how our dog farted across the room and it's Ben Cherington's fault, and so on.
I like the slightly more structured atmosphere here, but there might be a bit of a learning curve.
I know it's just a fun exercise, but I never cared much for these threads (no offense, Slash) because I don't feel JBJ, Mookie, or any of our other young players needs to have their success measured by constant comparison to Ellsbury or any other player. I'm fine with them being the best that they can be regardless of what JE is or isn't doing. [unsolicited 2 cents over, lol.]
Chavis out with a torn thumb ligament...what a bummer, with the start he was off to.

Hey Kimmi...yes, this would be Flapjack. Good to see you as well! I figured if this is where you ended up after leaving BDC, the place couldn't be too bad.
Way too early for any serious concern. Obviously the rotation and bullpen have let us down at times early on, but there have been encouraging signs of late and getting E-Rod and Smith back will only help. Price will be fine (get a load of those peripherals!), likewise Kimbrel and Koji, and Porcello is really starting to look like the guy the RS were hoping for when they brought him over from Detroit.
Let's sweep the pitiful Braves and take over first place by the time the Yankees come to Fenway on Friday.
