  1. Biggest Red Sox win in 2 1/2 Years! Best three things. 1) They didn't give up. 2) the bullpen and 3) it was no fluke because it was the 3-4-5 guys that took charge. We need those three for the rest of the way. MMokie may have gotten over the hump/slumo, Hanley seems to be loving the whole thing, and Big Papi is still healthy and swinging the bat.
  2. 8/5 Kelly gets a start next week!
  3. Mookie has to be shut down for at least two games. Two games when a pitcher other than the Big Two are on. He's been aon a free fall for about three weeks. Nobody has been paying attention. Others came back after a little time off, maybe he will. He's the catalyst, adn we're going nowhere with him not hitting.
  4. If JF knew his pitchers, Hembree would have been warming up 20 minutes ago. It's fast becoming, "Spahn, Sain, and three days of rain.' Never mind the No 5, where do we get a three>
  5. Where the hell is the No. 3 starter going to come from? Back to Spahm, Sain, etc. We have no etc.
  6. Gausman pitched one helluv game, that's for sure. That doesn't explain Mookie's .222 avg over the last 15 games. (with 1 HR) He's physically and mentally exhausted. Needs at least 2 days off. He doesn't get it (or a miraculous recovery) this season is history. Can one player make that big a difference? He can if he's been the spark all year. Look at the other guys that got a little rest. They came back like gangbusters. Benintendi can fill in for a couple of days.
  7. Never thought I'd look at a lineup hoping NOT to see Mookie. He's bare;y making contact these days, and needs a rest. Maybe a day would help, but 2 days would help even more. I look at Shaw, Young, even David. A few days off, they come back like gangbusters. Now that Benny is back, why not? Maybe he'll bounce back quickly, but I've been saying that to myself for two weeks! Rain would help!
  8. Make that .219 (7 day) and .238 (15 day!) The Yankees come in tomorrow. Fans will scream if he's not in the lineup. May be best to just yank him every time there's a laugher. eRod goes tomorrow; maybe a good time!
  9. Mookie does s0 many other things to help the team win, I hadn't paid much attention to his BA, etc. Last 7 days:--------.225BA----4RBI--- 0HR Last 15 days---------.254------11RBI---4HR Last 30 days----------.320-----29-------7 So the last two weeks haven't been "mookish"
  10. I hope you're right! We hammered Bob Feller for about 13 runs in one of those games, and still lost the series. One more Spahn or Sain it wouldn't have been close!
  11. Porcello and Price Is very nice, But are the rest Up to the test? Could be Spahn and Sain Without the rain.
  12. We have to give Bradley and Betts a little time off. Especially Betts. Anyboody else notice that his hits have been coming early in the game? never noticed this before with anybody. And his average has slipped almost 10 points over the last couple of weeks. He still does so many other things that help win ball games, I don't think we notice that too much. Been awile since he's he's hit one out, also. Give haim a day or even parts of two games off, see what happens. May be as much mental fatigue as physical.
  13. Tell your mom this game will probably end before the Patriots game gets underway (but no guarantees; 1/2 inning to go)
  14. I don't know about the 2017 #2 thru #8 hitters, but the Sox can pre-print their scorecards with Pedroia inleading off and Bradley number 9. Folks will only have to write in 7 names.
  15. Verbally abused is too kind, I think. To me it was more like getting hammered. Gotta admit, 'tho. He deserved it, and will have to admit ghe'll have a lot of work to do this winter. Is he scheduled for Winter League?
  16. We're going to need them both. Yankees have Rays down 7-4 in the 8th. I think they'll overtake both Baltimore and Toronto before too long.
  17. Is it possible JF left his outfield stay out there, in this laugher, so the crowd wouldn't miss the "winner's dance?" Nah. He just forgot them!
  18. If I'm not mistaken, Dewey was the ONLY one on this board who agreed this might be a good idea. Guess he was right. One of the best parts of tonight's game is the wearing out of their bullpen. Two more to go here.
  19. And how many yachts, beach houses and Lear Jets does man need? Or, even want to keep track of?
  20. You're right. Shaw, Hanley and now Holt all seems to have benifited from a few days rest. Probably made worse by the timing of this road trip. I hope the one day off plus the sight of the WALL will be all Mookie needs to put a stop to these stupid pop-ups!
  21. They all are! Even Orsillo, in San Diego, is paired with a couple of dullards.
  22. During the first ame of this series, I remarked that I thought Mookie need not one, but at least two, days off. Anyone else noticed the slower hands which makes for more pop-ups" He's popping up pitches he would have killed a week ago. At least he'll get one day to re=energize!
  23. I don't think I missed more than half a dozen of the pitches Buchholz threw last night, and i didn't see more than half a dozen of those in the middle of the plate. Yet his strikeout to walk ration was outstanding. And, only once or twice was he falling off toward first base looking at his shoe tops! I would say he stays in the rotation until his next performances say otherwise.
  24. Give him time; he'll be fine. This year? Maybe. Maybe not, but 2017 is looking awfully good!
  25. Once the young man learns when to swing and when not to swing, I think he'll be fine. I doubt if he aseen as much varitey each time at bat as he has seen in the "Bigs". He's not ready for the regular day to day lineup. He'll get enough exposure, so we'll be watching the progress. No hurry. At some point in the future we'll (well, you anyway) will see a lineup that includes Pedroia, Bogaerts, Betts,'s, Binnintendi, Vazquea, Bradley and Moncada. That will be something to see!
