  1. Me, too, SB.... I loved that he flourished here after Buck let him go. He needs Fenway grass.
  2. I nearly fell out of my chair early last night when I saw that Holt and Smith went on the DL. Holt may have been influenced by a head injury. He's getting his time off now, Moon. This DL is a sneaky little tool.... Hope Carson gets well soon!
  3. Baaack to the offense.... heralded slow down seems to be upon us... I'm ready for it to fire back up again.
  4. I liked De Aza ... once I saw how he played here. He's back to the place where the O's let him go. Too bad. Heheh .... unless he gets DFA'd and we pick him back up and he flourishes again. But that would mean another one of our present 40 man roster would somehow fail and I'm not hoping for that.
  5. Coco's not hitting what Holt is, even in his slump. Coco was always a step away from being very good and a half step away from being on the DL. I don't see getting him ... not wanting him.
  6. Following along with the several of you that are talking Rusney. I like Holt and appreciate what he's done but think he needs a step back. It's time to let Castillo to have another run. It worked for JBJ .... (not everyone takes advantage of that next opportunity)
  7. Nut, The '50 Sox that hold the record for runs scored, and did so with Teddy out for a good portion of the season, had an ERA eerily close, 4.88. They won 92 games but finished 3rd in the league. There is no doubt that the pitching needs to improve over all. The offense will surely cool off, at least every time they leave Fenway. It will be effected every time we play inter-league games away from Fenway. Yesterday and today showed just that. A couple of great defensive plays by the Royals snuffed out some important runs and that is going to happen, too. I'm not saying anything new. But I have high hopes that the offense stays strong. On last incredible stat, which you may know, the '50 Sox, had a team BA of .302 (I had read it was .312 somewhere ...) And the team today is near or at .297.
  8. I was gonna say something about your lengthy retirement as a possible reason ... You've never offended me, old friend.
  9. Coming from a fan of .... where are youse guys right now?
  10. I don't see Holt making the 80, but I certainly see Shaw at 80+.
  11. It's just his trademark, Dojji. He isn't offensive, very introspective and crowded with stats. I've always enjoyed his personality and posts. Top notch.
  12. I think you are right about Cleveland's pitching. I don't remember where I heard it, saw it, but they had no plans to trade. On my old forum, there was a fair amount of talk that trades could be made. Ya gotta remember something else, Tito is still the manager and he doesn't give up on his pitchers. The FA market this next off season is rated as one of the worst in a long time. That is one reason why the Nats went ahead with signing Strasburg - really out of character for his agent, Borus.
  13. Heh Love those full figures, Slash. Uh, I mean the Sox scoring 10 ....
  14. Thanks for the set up .... Off to work, so I'll check back in later tonight ... midnight-ish.... Go SOX beat the Champs!
  15. Off to work, so I'll check back in later tonight ... midnight-ish.... Go SOX beat the Champs!
  16. Gator ... may I call you Gator? Have you seen the look on Chili Davis's face when the guys start going the other way? Last year there was little good to take note of, until the latter portion. This season, especially this last homestand, he had a sneaky, maybe even a little evil, smile on his face. If his coaching is catching on up and down the lineup and they are all hitting to all fields, as they seem to be doing more of, the whole park is theirs to play with. Harder to defend ... gaps open up, shifts lose their effectiveness ... nice going all the way around. IOW, you're on the mark ... they are practicing the skill, developing it right before our very eyes! (Small Chicago reference there...)
  17. Hugh, I already have loads of napkins and paper towels stored up!
  18. Moon, Love your stats and thank you for them. Did you notice that even Hannigan had a 4 rbi day? He's at the bottom but he's still helping some. We don't beat the Astros in the last game without his big game. Everyone is helping ... love the length. Length matters ..... And Betts hasn't even gotten going well ... (no secret there)
  19. Oh man Oh man... this guy has been killin' it at Salem. (I lived there for 2 years, back when I wasn't yet 30.) He's been hitting been hitting like crazy! It must be fun to watch him and Moncada playing together. We'll see them in a couple years ... I;m freakin' a little
  20. Roy! Both of your posts bring a Cheshire smile to my face. I smile in the dark and it looks like that huge grin lighting up the rrom! Let's just kick up our heels and dance, my man! Well, I'll have to wait another 6 weeks or so! If by the time the doc says my fibula is whole and we ARE STILL hammerin' horse hide, I might just be dancing a jig or two!!
  21. It's nice to know that we aren't the Bravos, eh? I'd say it's prayer meeting time for them, while our prayers are being answered with lotsa yesses. (Before anyone goes off on that, no I don't think God is all that interested in sports. I do, however think He is more than accepting of those who truly consider their talents as gifts ... well, another place and another time.) Remember when Atlanta was a launching pad? I remember Hammerin' Hank and so many that used to play there... again, another place and time. This is now and boy howdy is it fun!
  22. Tip o' the hat, one this!!!
  23. I have a rather healthy sense of doubt that you are aware of all the other performances of all time.
  24. Averaged 10+ runs a game on the homestand ... wow!
  25. Did it again today, Kimmi! After Josh's throwing error opened the door for the 'Stros to come all the way back, it seemed like the magic had to end ... again, since they let one slip away the other day. But the Sox weren't ready to give up ... they almost made it up in the bottom half. They never really stop ... 10 more runs! 14 more hits! A rare day of defensive mistakes but they overcame it!
