  1. LOL Most of the Sox best hitters have been lefties. We hit LHPs about 100 points better than RHPs, this year, and we face RHPs about 70% of the time. Why is getting a RHB better than a LHB?
  2. To me, Mead is the 2017 2Bman not Arraez. That's the other reason why we trade for a rental. Also, Arraez is not good on D. He was showing signs of decline before 2026: .861 in 2023 .739 in 2024 .719 in 2025 I'd prefer B Lowe, if PIT is a seller.
  3. I hear things like "Call Arias up, now" a lot, but normally it's followed with something like "what do we have to lose" or "let's see what he has." I don't get the "crowning" vibe. There was some for Anthony, especially after his half season of .800+ productivity, but I keep hearing all this talk that "everyone" or almost everyone and implying they expected greatness from all our prospects and from day one. I was excited about the big three. I was surprised they handed KC the FT job on opening day 2025, but I don't recall even a majority thinking it made sense, let alone were liking it. Many felt Anthony was a key to the 2026 line-up, myself included, but nobody felt it was a slam dunk, and almost everyone felt we needed another big bat "just in case..."
  4. We might eb stuck having to go rental to keep the return price low.
  5. I think once we made the Contreras trade Alonso became a low priority signing, and that's what it looked like happened. I understand the call for another big bat, and I agreed we needed one better than Durbin. I just think DH or LF/DH or 1B/DH was not the way to go. We had 4 OF'ers with one slotted for DH (Duran or Anthony.) We had Yoshida. We had Romy with even Casas as a long shot DH. The obvious plan was Bregman as that "second bat," and I never felt he fit the bill. I was glad we didn't sign him at even near what he got. Assuming the Durbin trade still gets made, the bat would have been 2B or SS with Story or Mayer being benched or traded. The other obvious choice was to trade Duran and go with Anthony in LF and add a DH, but we were still paying Yoshida and had no place for Romy, unless we platooned him at 2B w Mayer.
  6. How about Liam Hicks & Alcantara for Mayer, Wong & Cespedes? BTV accepts. They also accept Arias, Wong & KC for Lopez, Hicks & Alcantara
  7. I googled it and some stories on it came out around July 6th.
  8. It's silly to claim we chose Gasper over Alonso. Gasper was and still is AAA depth.
  9. Are they gonna ask Devers to play every position!
  10. LOL. And why would a RHB be better protection than a LH'd one? Ideally, he'd have a good LHB before and after him.
  11. I'm thinking a LH'd power bat would be better than a RHB. Ideally the LHB would be the type that goes oppo often.
  12. BTV has your trade as 52.5 to MIA and 37.9 to BOS. They accept the trade as a moderate overpay.
  13. 2025-2026 DRS Abrams (-10) is the worst of SS's being talked about. OAA (-17), too. He's worse than Story. Bogey (-7 DRA/ +13 OAA) and Adames (-1 DRS/ -7 OAA) are also bad. -1 Lindor (+8 OAA) +1 Pena (+5 OAA) +2 IKF in way less innings +14 Lopez (+8 OAA) +15 Neto (-16 OAA)
  14. Fangraphs currently has Arias #2, Eyanson #27, Gonzales #70, Soto #83, Valera #109
  15. Agreed, and to me, keeping Duran was insurance for an OF injury or a sophomore slump from Anthony.
  16. LOL. One never knows what other GMs want, need and like.
  17. The more I hear about how awful this big named SSs are on defense, the less I want them. Sure, we can move Mead to 1B/DH and slide someone to 2B, but I'd prefer we just get a real SS or wait and pray for Arias to come through.
  18. The MIA offer wont even get us Lopez alone, IMO. Soto for Springer is a longshot on TOR accepting.
  19. Sonny Gray is not the only example, either. What is the age Neto could reach where the switch flips to being able to handle the spotlight? The silliness never stops.
  20. Back to needing a big bat and some pitching help, but now without the Early trade chip.
  21. E Hancock and F Alvarez would be very costly, but nice adds.
  22. I like Romy a lot, but Rafaela was doing well up second.
