That looked like the old Rafaela.

I've never bought into that line of thinking. Remember how Sonny Gray couldn't handle the pressure of the big city lights?

    Nice call!
  4. moonslav59
    It's Romy time!

Maybe we need to rethink the RH'd part of a power bat needed. RHB Contreras leads the team in HRs. 3 of our top 5 HR leaders bat RH'd. SLG vs L: .441 and SLG vs R: .375 OPS: .780 v L and .680 v R

He'll be very costly, but Neto and Lindor have more issues.

I'd like the idea of Durbin bunting, there. Too bad Duran swung at a pitch way out of the zone.
  8. moonslav59
We need a bat, but I'd prefer SS, C or now 2B.

    Tonight's Meadless Line-up vs the lefty: R Jones DH R Romy 2B R Willson 1B L Abreu RF R Rafaela CF R Durbin 3B L Duran LF R Monasterio SS R Narvaez
  10. moonslav59
I thought maybe you meant RH RP.
  11. moonslav59
Well, Early may not pitch this year, also.

Man. Fractured wrist in first game. Snake bite!
  13. moonslav59
Because they all got to the fork in the road and took it.
  14. moonslav59
    More like a master bait.
  15. moonslav59
Remember the long winter debate about him not even being a #2?
  16. moonslav59
RH'd RF'er? Abreu is killing lefties.
  17. moonslav59
To me, other than some clear situational moments, teams should bunt only enough to keep teams honests by bringing in the infielders.
  18. moonslav59
Wonder what the line-up will look like vs a lefty. Is Mead healthy enough to play?
  19. moonslav59
I wonder when soxprospects.com places the new draftees.

    MLBTR came out with their top 50 Trade Deadline List. Here are players that are not rentals: 2 Mason Miller (arb to '29) 4. Detmers & 5 Soriano (arb to '28) & 17 Joe Ryan (arb to 2027) 18 Luke Weaver ('27) & Jeff Hoffman ('27) 20. E Hancock (arb to '30) 21 Abrams (arb to '28) & 22 Neto (arb to '29) 42 Castillo ('27), 43 Wacha ('27) & 44 Lugo ('27) 48 Hunter Goodman (arb to '29) 49 Alcantara ('27 option) 50 Francisco Alvarez (arb to '29) Rentals I'd consider: 9 Jeffers & 24 T Stephenson 6 Peralta, 7 Griffin, 8 Mize 10 R Ray, 11 Gausman, 13 Bieber, 15 Holmes 33 Trevor Rogers, 36 AJ Mintor

I'd take Cheng and .600 over Story at .700. (Fat chance he hits that well.) I'd probably prefer Monasterio, too, assuming he's still doing this well by the time Story is ready.

...and there is nothing wrong with getting excited about having 3 nationally high-ranked prospects so close to promotion time all at once. Knowledgeable fans usually know to temper expectations, at least for year 1 and 2. To say "everyone" blah, blah, blah was building a strawman as big as the Statue of Liberty.
  23. moonslav59
No doubt there was hype. My point was against a poster saying "everyone" when it might not have even been one or two saying or implying these 3 would be great on day one. Even the T-shirt made no promises for instant greatness. The team had very few big stars, if any, so they went with that marketing ploy. I don't recall a single poster saying even 2 of the 3 were going to be stars on day one. Many felt Anthony might or probably would be but nobody I know was certain about anything. Most of us know baseball enough to never speak in absolutes. Only one poster does that. It's one thing to create a strawman point that nobody made and then argue against it for weeks, but to say "everybody" said it and continue the argument for months gets into absurdity & hogwash territory
  24. moonslav59
Exactly, and looking at our #14-16 pitchers left on the already depleted depth chart should be enough to scare anyone into putting pitching as a high need on the deadline add list.
  25. moonslav59
LMAO. His connections and hand on the heartbeat of Sox Nation are always far superior to ours. Plus, why should the majority of any group of people prove a truth to begin with?
