  1. He’s as much a break out as Meidroth.
  2. We may swap a lefty bat for a righty one, but so seriously doubt we trade even a top 9-20 prospect for offense. We need SP help way, way, WAY more than anything else. Our best pitchers are already nearing or passing their career high IP totals, and we are not even half way through July! IMO, we won’t trade a top 8 prospect and may not trade a 9-20, either.
  3. I doubt we sign Gio had we kept Sale, and JH refused to adjust the budget after Gio’s injury. Here is my take on our SPer depth for2024| 1. Gioliti IL 2. Bello 3. Crawford 4. Whitlock IL 5. Pivetta 6. Houck 7. Criswell (rehab) 8. Winckowski 9. Mate (rehab) 10. Murphy IL, Walter IL, Anderson Gambrell, Alexander,Fitts, Hagenman
  4. Let’s just concentrate on a decent SPer, and kick the tires on longer controlled ones, first. Worst case: we can get a decent SPer for a couple prospects ranked below 9 or 10th.
  5. How the hell did he age that quickly?
  6. Signing Giolito was Hiroshima. Trading Sale was Nagasaki
  7. It’s hard to tell, and I know that sounds like a cop out. He looks great, at times, then makes an easy play look hard. I think the good to great plays far outnumber the bad ones, but the metrics don’t support that view. He’s such a great CFer, I’m not sure why we should give him a long look at SS, unless it’s an emergency, like now.
  8. OPS Against last 4 weeks; .421 Martin, back on the IL .481 Jansen, rumours of being over the hill were false .494Criswell, ready to return to rotation .503 Kelly, a pleasant surprise .558 Booser, the feel good story .569 Slaten, despite a melt down game .654 Crawford, now our hot starter .670 Horn, for real? .696 Keller, decent depth inAAA .727 Wink, despite bad last start .747 Houck with one bad start .759 Anderson, ok until last game .833 Pivetta, needs to get consistent .865 Bello, cannot string together multiple good starts .908 Weissert and .949 Bernardino, hopefully can turn it around
  9. Last4 weeks OPS 1.059 Devers, yes forevers! .933 Rafaela, yes, he can hit! .907 O’Neill, yes, April was no fool. .906 Romy, yes, yes, yes! .894 Valdez, yes he should stay over VG! .878 Duran, yes, this is who he is! .706 Wong, yes, he’s a keeper! .693 Refsnyder, yes, he should start vs every LHP. .653 Smith, yes 653 is oodles better than Dalbec/Cooper. .611 DHam, yes the 10 SB helps. .591 Yoshida, yes he’s over .800 last 11 games. .519 McGuire, yes, he needs to heat up. .468 Abreu, yes, he is streaky.
  10. Wish I saw this game. Huge win and great effort from Crawford. Are Devers’ solo homers still bothering some? Does this team have heart and soul or what? Are others having FUN, yet?
  11. Oddly enough, our middle IF of DHam, Valdez and Romy does not need a wild gamble on Meidroth, who is not a good defensive SS. The Sox scouts loved Yoshida. He will get a long look, as in beyond the deadline. His .803 OPS over his last 11 games, including the Sox biggest hit of the season has insured that, IMO, deserving or not. I am 100% on board with adding a SPer, but giving up a big chunk of the future for a rental is not a good idea. It is rare and costly to get a longer controlled pitcher, at the deadline, but I’d bite the bullet for both the 2024 season AND beyond. Trade some of our glorified everyday player farm for a solid SPer with 2.5+ years of team control. If possible flip a LHd hitter for a RHd one.
  12. On the surface, I would say Romy, but he seems to be the back up 1Bman, and might be seeing more and more time there over Smith. The Casas return is a few weeks away, at best. No way DHam is demoted, so it might have to be Valdez, despite him being the best hitter out of all 4 middle infielders since June 1st.
  13. Criswell went 6 yesterday allowing just 1 hit and no BB. 8 Ks. Looks like he is ready to rejoin the rotation.
  14. Nate didn’t start in 2018? Huh?
  15. No doubt, although even when pitching over the last 4 years, he rarely looked like vintage Sale.
  16. Tough loss. Tonight’s game looks like the most important of the season, so far. Our best pen arms should be fresh.
  17. I would not call the struggling Weissert a loser.
  18. How did Schwarber & Robles work out? How did Nate and Pearce work out? It’s a dice roll.
  19. His best value is as a platoon DH, PH and emergency 2Bman. I doubt he’d bring back much.
  20. Those 4 deserve it, but likely 3 make it. Maybe no Devers or Jansen.
  21. We don’t need him in the OF, but I like seeing him at 1B.
  22. I’m not sure I’d demote a .978 since June 1st guy, because he’s bad on D, and I’m big on middle IF D.
  23. I also wonder if Wong’s big step up plays into choosing to deal Teel over Anthony or Mayer, assuming a big three is needed to land a stud. One could argue OF is loaded, too, so Anthony could be dealt, and the OF would still look set for many years, even with no O’Neill or Ref in a year or two. To me, middle IF still looks shaky, so Mayer might be the one Brez struggles to keep. K Campbells stock has shot up, but I’m not sure he’d bring back a top pitcher. His upside seems very high, to me- same as Cespedes. I’m not sure their trade value matches my optimism on what they can bring to the future of the Sox. Bleis is hard to value, IMO. I’d like to see what we could get for 2-3 prospects from my second tier group: Sandlin, Perales or Fitts (just one and only for pitching in return) Zanetello Meidroth Yorke Lugo Maybe add a Castro, Paulino, Jordan or Romero to get a deal done.
