  1. True, hence the “might.”
  2. He’s closed the gap between 3 and 4!
  3. Too funny! This from the guy that stalks me with my accurate sham posts.
  4. lol! Context, baby, context!
  5. Exactly, but we will never know what contract Bogey would have said yes to any any given time. I wanted Bogey back; my point was only that not getting him back does not look as bad as it did in March, due to this bad half season. Same with the Betts trade. It still sucks. Big time! But Wong is at least giving us more than Downs. The Beni trade looks better now than at the time. Even the Renfroe trade is now showing some returns.
  6. The sham comments were about the Sox FO. My opinion has not changed on that, at all. I expected us to finish better than2023 and near .500. I was excited about watching the Sox from day one, but did not expect a playoff shot. The guy calling me out bashed me for having fun watching the 2024 team in April and May.
  7. Not for 1.3 yrs of a guy having a somewhat down year.
  8. I was about to type this. Soon, Cespedes might make it 5!
  9. Just say no!
  10. What’s up with Bogey? Not hearing much on that “botched” non signing, lately.
  11. DD almost traded Betts in 2019. To me, that is all the evidence I need to know the Betts trade was not on the GM position. There is enough other fodder to lob at Bloom to last for pages and pages… oh wait, been there- done that.
  12. It’s hard to know much about how these picks will do, but on paper it looks like an A draft, especially when we did not have a top 12 pick.
  13. At worst, he’s better than30 number 13’s on each staff.
  14. It will be interesting to see just how few teams will be sellers and the large amount of teams buying and driving up the return costs. Don’t be surprised if all we get is a 5/6 starter and cheap RHB.
  15. Brez was key in getting Bailey, so sabotaging does not fit. I did not intend my list of added pitchers, outside of homegrowns to say we have done great, but just to point out that it hasn’t been all bad. If we are getting these results from the 2024 staff via sabotage, then I hope we see more of it over the next 10 years. I’m thinking DD was wrongly criticised for “neglecting the farm,” some called it even worse. I’m thinking some of Bloom’s moves are looking a little better, now, too. Had Whitlock and Martin not gotten hurt, it might look even better. Brez did add Criswell and Slaten.
  16. When is the last time we drafted so few middle IFers in the first 7 picks?
  17. I seriously doubt we even consider a big three trade at this deadline, maybe not even this winter, when those sorts of trades are much more common.
  18. as a hitter and pitcher?
  19. Except, he had multiple different injuries, some not baseball related. Hard for a GM to be blamed for that part..
  20. Our GMs have gotten a few pitching additions correct, and most were pre Brez. DD and Bloom got most of em… We have more good homegrown pitchers that are decent to very good in over a decade. We acquired some good ones after Nate: Pivetta Whitlock Schreiber Bernardino Kelly Wink Wacha Strahm Hill Jansen Martin And more…
  21. I’m not defending Sox GMs for their pitching choices, but not every choice that fails should be called “incompetence.”
  22. We could also trade for a closer or 1/2 type RPer.
  23. I wasn’t saying what JH will allow Brezhnev to do; I’m saying what I would do.
  24. IMO, trading prospects guideline should look like this: (Can add lower level prospects in package) For #1 SP with 3.5 yrs of control: 1 from Anthony, Mayer, Keel (maybe KCampbell and Cespedes) For #1 SP with 2.5 yrs of control: 1 from KC, Cespedes and maybe Bleis. Rentals: anyone below #6 with the right return.
  25. There is no reason we cannot add another pitcher- even a high priced one, except for JHs stinginess. If you look at the numbers from our FAs to be in 2024 only, Martin and Pivetta will not be expensive to replace. Replacing O’Neill plus another good RHB will cost more than O’Neill’s 2024 contract. Replacing the 2024 Jansen, in kind, will be costly, but doing so should still leave enough room to add an ace or two solid SPers. In short, our needs will be: SP Closer RHB (SS/2B) RHB (1B/OF) We could swap a LHB OF for a RHB OF or 1B/OF at no added cost. We can do this all and stay below the tax line, but if we can spend beyond the line, I’m thinking very good things for our near and far future!
