  1. Duran has not done all that well ve lefties, either, but even a career .620 marks beats Abreu's .530 by nearly 100. It's just .596 to .569, this year. It's .658 to .530 over the last 3 years combined. Duran's speed has been a plus, and that helps him play FT, but Abreu's defense in a difficult RF at Fenway Park is also a pretty big asset. We can see how defense keeps the weak hitting Rafaela vs L's & R's a FT'er. I think we will have to make a choice and trade from our depth: OF: Abreu/Refsnyder, Duran, Rafaela, Anthony (Jh Garica also knocking on the door and KC, who can play CF.) Midde IF: Story, KC, Mayer (Arias farther away than we'd like) with decent utility depth (Rafaela, DHam, Grissom & Romero.) Guys like Arias and JH Garcia probably don't have real high trade value, and neither does Story, even if you kick in 50-65% of his remaining deal,) but we have much higher need areas, and all these guys can't play, at once.
  2. Soxprospects.com has this... At his best, will flash three at least above-average pitches, and on the right day, all will look like potential plus pitches. Has done a great job improving his delivery and command to the point where you can comfortably project him as a starter. Has done a much better job repeating delivery and holding velocity deeper into starts in looks in 2022. Attacks hitters with a plan and has multiple pitches he is confident using against hitters. Against right-handed hitters, throws a lot of two-seamers and sliders, while against lefties he tends to go more with four-seam fastballs up and changeups down. Has pitches that break in all four directions and can be used in any quadrant. Has had allowed more hard contact to lefties than righties and that is something worth watching as he reaches the major league level
  3. Pretty amazing though... 4.2 IP Bello x 3, Newcomb x 2, Gio x 1, Dobbins x 1, Houck x 1 4.1 IP Bello x 1, Buehler x 1
  4. I do agree on 2 catchers, and I'm pretty much done with Wong, despite his apparent slight improvement on D. Jo Garcia is too far away. I think we need to find a new trade partner, if SDP don't have the pitcher we need. How about enticing DD to part with Andrew Painter? They have sub .700 ('240'25 combined) Max Kepler in LF. The lefty batter is 32. They have RHB as CF (.612 OPS from '24-'25.) and Brandon Marsh (.728 '24-'25) in the OF mix with RF'er Castellenos. How about Duran, Kelly & Mullins and for Painter and Jose Alvarado ($9M w $9M option for '26 and $500K buyout.)
  5. I'm kinda thinking (hoping) we found our catcher in Narvaez. If I trade Duran (or Abreu,) it would be for a pitcher as the major get. Since Rafaela plays an awesome CF and Abreu is a GG type RF'er, it does make sense to trade Duran. Anthony's best slot is probably LF, too. That being said, Duran is our third best offensive player, and our offense has been struggling. We have to hope Anthony can replace Duran's numbers, without a long learning curve. (Assuming we do this and pack in the 2025 season, we'd need Anthony doing very well in 2026.) Maybe if Story goes on a hot streak, we can find a taker for him, without having to pay such a big chunk of his deal, as we would, now. I also think we may have to decide, earlier than maybe we wanted to, which two to keep from Mayer, KC and Arias. I realize one can play 3B, if Bregman bolts, but we also have Romero and slight hopes for improvements from Grissom/DHam/Romy.
  6. Bloom never traded a top prospect and barely traded many mid levels, and while some think that was by his choice, I think the priorities given to him were to build up the farm via trades. Many of the trades he made for MLB players, also included a prospect or two: Verdugo plus Downs/Wong JBJ plus DHam/Binelas Franchy plus Wink plus others Pivetta plus Seabold Ottavino plus F German and cash for nothing Plus many straight out vets for prospects or recently graduated prospects: Vaz for Abreu and EValdez Springs & Mazza for Ro Hernandez & Sogard Moreland, Pillar and others for prospects I'm sure I'm missing a few. The highest ranked prospect he traded, I think, was Aldo Ramirez, who was maybe 9th on SP.com
  7. You don't even know what projecting means. I know I post the standing when we are close or in the lead. I don't deny it, or make excuses. It seems obvious why. You deny, deflect or don't answer when we point out how you post 3 times more, when things are going badly.
  8. I'd do this trade. Would you do Anthony, Romero and any two pitchers on the farm?
  9. Yes, like watching the highlight of Jeter's catch diving into the stands and saying he's a GG SS by the eye test.
  10. 3 of 4 minor league teams lost. Jh Garcia homered (2-5 and is at 1.113, now.) Ehrhard hit 2 dingers in the POR loss. Gonzales went 3-4 in SAL loss. Bleis homered (3-6 and now .795) in GRE loss. Arias 2-6 (.939)
  11. Going into the yea,I felt we had the most minor league pitching depth in a long time. Before the Preister deal we had him, Fitts, Dobbins, Guerrero, Kelly, I Campbell, and several others that were ML ready. Here are the current soxprospects.com rankings of pitchers: Slaten graduated, last summer. 4 Perales AA (IL) 7 Valera A+ 8 Tolle A+ 9 Early AA 10 Fitts MLB 11 Dobbins AAA 12 Clarke A+ 16 Paez A+ 14 Sandlin AA 21 Reyes FCL 23 Cason FCL 24 Wehunt AA 25 Monegro AA 26 Guerrero MLB 27 Mullins AA (15 of top 27 are pitchers) 29 Drohan, 30 Delzine, 32 Rivera, 35 Ingrassia, 37 Aita, 40 Tygart, 42 Penrod, 44 Carlson, 45 Fajardo, 46 Mata, 48 Neely, 50 Wu-Yellnad (About half of the next 23 are pitchers.)
  12. You do know the "eye test" pertains to actually watching games and players not watching numbers and data on a page. More LMAO.
  13. Not sure why you are so fixated on the timing of my standings, but thanks for taking up my slack.
  14. How about this for the 2026 starting line-up? 1. L Duran DH 2. R Bregman 3B 3. L Abreu- R Refsnyder RF 4. L Devers 1B 5. L Anthony LF 6. R Narvaez C 7. L Mayer SS 8. R Campbell 2B 9. R Rafaela CF Bench: R Wong C, L DHam IF, R Romy IF, R Jh Garcia OF/1B or L Romero IF (Trade Story & Yoshida) Rotation: Crochet, F Valdez (32 y/o FA,) Sandoval, Houck, Fitts/Bello/Crawford/Dobbins
  15. Can't help but laugh at that. Not trying to be disrespectful, but it's wildly funny. Plus, the position is about how JH views Cora and him, going forward, and not what we think about his skills as a manager. This about wanting him in the FO, which is a different job with different skills.
  16. Good points. Maybe give each SP'er 2 or 3 "step offs" and RP'ers one.
  17. One pitcher in just 2 back-to-back seasons pretty much sums it all up: Felix Hernandez: 2009: 19-5 2.49 (second in Cy Young Award) 2010: 13-12 2.27 (Cy Young Award) He also had one 200 IP season, with a 3.45 ERA & a 9-11 record. He led the league with a 2.14 ERA in 2014, but did not win the CYA, going 15-6 in 236 IP. The team went 22-12 in his starts. 7 of those losses were in gamed he let up 1-2 runs.
  18. We can't put any kind of nice streak together. The "vibes" are looking pretty damn bad, this year. I'm not feeling it.
  19. Indeed, and Salem's is watchable, too. POR 1.55 Early (before today) .457 OPS against 2.05 Monegro .593 3.77 Sandlin ,657 3.58 Wehunt .691 3.63 Uberstine ,605 (before today) GRE 2.08 Rivera .385 3.86 Tolle .711 4.39 Carlson .807 4.94 A Smith .690 5.40 Valera 784 SAL 3.00 Vogatsky .656 3.44 Cohen .643 3.70 Aita .580 3.86 Sprague .656
  20. Woo lost 3-0. Penrod walked 2 of the first 4 batters and was yanked. Noda walked 3 times and got one of the 5 hits. Grissom 2B'd and Anthony and Jh garcia each had a hit and a BB. POR won the completion game, as The RP'er Anderson let up a hit that allowed 2 of early's runners to score, then went 3.1 scoreless. The Sea Dogs had 3 HRs. In game 2, POR is up 8-7 late. Mullins looked good, but Troye let up 6 runs in 0.2 IP. Jordan is 3-3 w a 2B and BB (.928) GRE is down 3-2. Brannon & Bleis w solo homers. Murphy is rehabbing (1.1 IP, 0H, oER, 2BB, 3K) FCL is playing better. Jo Garcia went 1-2 (1.099 in limited action.)
  21. And they don't ever say that.
  22. I'm sure most pitchers feel a lot better, when their teams wins in a game they started, even if they were not all that good, more than a game the team lost, despite him doing fairly well (or slightly better than in the game they won.) Of course, wins matter to a pitcher, and they like it more when they are assigned the win, and not some RP'er, who happened to be in the game, when the lead changed. When I look at how good a pitcher has done, when compared to others, I don't look at a team stat or result. I look at how well the guy pitched over a long enough period of time to have a strong opinion.
