  1. Sox now have the 8th best record in MLB. 0.5 GB HOU #7 -2.0 GB PHI, CHC & DET for the 4th best record -3.0 GB TOR for the ALE lead and #2 record in MLB behind MIL. In 2021, we were 64-46 (6th best in MLB) and 1.5 GB the TBR for the ALE lead, but were about to lose 5 of 6 and end up 12-16 in AUG and 14-11 in Sept (3-0 in Oct.)
  2. I've never been for emptying the farm. I do think he could have offered a little more and gotten a little better. I hope May shuts me up, just like Chapman did.
  3. I can certainly see why DHam should not be playing much, except as a late inning defensive replacement or PR'er, but I see no reasons for Grissom to be playing on a team in contention. Sure, he may end up hitting significantly better than DHam, but I don't see why we should assume that, just because DHam had been around .400-.500, most of the season. I don't think he is that bad and will continue under .500. I'm not sure Grissom will hit more than .600 or .650.
  4. Okay, I get what your saying, but I took SS's comment as going beyond the literal meaning. I think he was implying, :look at how Duran compares to the NYY LF'er and others.
  5. But that was quite a while ago. (He did help for a bit.)
  6. I happen to think Duran is plus, when compared to the MLB norm in LF. His metrics are skewed by the short LF wall. He may even be a plus in CF, but I think he'd need to show more playing time there, this year or beyond, for me to know for sure. I'm not sure what "comparing in a vacuum" means. DHam is better than Grissom at 2B in a vacuum or on the field.
  7. Well, you kinda compare overall, when you say someone is good, bad or average. Duran would be a GG OF'er in little league.
  8. He sure can be, at times, and when healthy. Letting him walk ended up being a big mistake, but it wasn't so clear. We almost got him back.
  9. Somebody if we paid all but $1M, maybe.
  10. Not hearing any of the "keep as many options as possible" crowd speaking out against this choice.
  11. With 4-5 guys on the IL, it is kind of amazing we still have choices. Buehler & May Criswell & Fitts Harrison & Sandlin
  12. Agreed, but we could use 2 for the regular season or an injury,
  13. I think it looks more like we should have done more, now that we are winning.
  14. We actually needed 2 starters better than Buehler, unless you think Criswell is for real.
  15. Max, I'm not sure why you refuse to see Toro as a weakness. He hit .538 in his first 8 games and .590 in games 25 to today (43 games.) He hit very well in a 16 game stretch. He has a -4 DRS on D at 1B (25th in MLB.) He was a career .638 OPS guy, before this season (over 5 years.) If this is not a weakness, nothing is, and no teams have any weaknesses. Next up, Yoshida...
  16. Yes, some- not Portis and a couple others. We gave up Jordan, this year. My point is, we gave up much more, last year than this. There were other reasons, for sure, but most felt we were closer to having a chance this year.
  17. Best Sox FIP (50+ IP) 2.56 Fajardo 2.29 ERA 2.63 Tolle 2.93 2.76 Early 2.39 2.85 Rivera 2.53 2.92 Ehrlicher 2.94 3.09 Sandlin 3.50 3.29 Mullins 2.19 (best in system) 14. Holobetz 3.67 (3.43) 15. Aita 3.68 (3.59)
  18. Josue Brito has the 8th best OPS in the minors at 1.041 (just 124 PAs) Out of all 636 minor leaguers with 300+ PAs, our Sox prospects place... 40. Jh Garcia .886 129. Grissom .813 140. Eaton .806 211. Encarnacion .771 224. Taylor .767 .250 Romero .758 .290 Bleis .743 (Jordan .872 and Ehrhard ,796)
  19. Better than a rental at inflated costs. We need a pitcher. Why did we give up more, last year?
  20. Injury Report: Anthony: AUG 6 Slaten may be back in AUG. Mayer "SEPT, at earliest" Hendriks says he'll be back, but Cora says doubtful. Guerrero: TBD All others are listed as 2026 returns, at best.
  21. Not at the time of those trades, apparently. (I also forgot to mention getting Priester for Yorke) Also, look at what Brez gave up in 2024 compared to 2025 (highest ranking when with Sox): 3. Nick Yorke 11. Matthew Lugo 20. Cutter Coffey 29. Ovis Portes (far away but significant promise) 9. Essinson Paulino 20. Niko Kavadas 11. Ryan Zeferjahn 54. Y Vargas 60. Gilberto Bautista NR Moises Bolivar (a far away prospect with some promise) 2025: 7. Tibbs (I think fell to 10th before trade) 7. Jordan (19th when traded) 28. Ehrhard
