  1. HRs do help with OPS, but it's not everything. Do you think SF is happy with .840? Devers does lead the Giants in home OPS at .822 (second is .797) He leads in away OPS, too, at .861 (second is .821)
  2. Yes. I mentioned Romy is hot (.952 last 5 & .751 last11 gams.) and has hit RHPs better than Yoshida. Romy could play 1B or 2B v LHPs as Lowe and DHam suck vs L, but he could DH vs RHPs. 2 ML options and 1 minor league call-up options: .735 Narvaez (Give him some rest by DH'ing him, now that we have 3 catchers on the 28 man roster.) .697 Romy .658 Campbell
  3. That's how I see it. I gave my opinion and asked how much longer can the leash be extended? Nobody answered, except one said two weeks, about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Was last night a sign? I hope so.
  4. I thought they handled his rehab all wrong and that he was not ready when they called him up. He looked lost, at the plate. I also think we had better options, especially vs LHPs.
  5. Well said and good comp.
  6. Okay. Higher than .840. He is entering peak prime and CF & RF is shorter in SF than BOS.
  7. I agreed with this when it happened. I think his statements were taken out of context and blown up. That just made it worse. Did you see the fight, last night, after Devers HR "trot" drew the ire of the Rockies- not an easy thing to do.
  8. Of course. I'm not sure SFG management is happy with the trade results, either. Devers has done fine, but I think they were hoping for .900+ not .840. It's early yet.
  9. It's understandable to judge a manager, GM and team by wins and losses. I get it. I do wonder why some fans seem to overlook our current record and think this team is an also-ran, fringe playoff contender with near impossible odds at winning the 2025 WS. Are the Dodgers a top contender? (We are 1 GB them!) How about DD's Phillies? (We are just 3 GB them.) How about our chances at winning the "mediocre" American League? You gotta think making it to the WS gives any team a legit shot, right? We are 2.5 GB TOR, 2.0 behind DET and tied with the NYY for the top AL teams. I've been asking for years and years, "How Soon Is Now?" and I'm wondering if "Now" is now! I think we are a legit WS ring contender. Not quite top 3-4 but very close to #4.
  10. Too bad the Yanks have heated up. I was hoping they missed the dance, this year, but then again, I don't want Boone or Cashman fired. The Yanks have 2 more games to play than us, so in that way, they hold their own destiny in their hands, but we play them, so we do, too. Both of us are 2.5 GB the struggling Jays, who have 1 more game to play than we do- one less than the Yanks. The Sox are just 2 GB DET, now. They also have 2 more games to play than us. I mention the game left disparity to highlight the fact that we have 1-2 more days off, in the next month, and for a team in need of a #5 SP'er, that is helpful. I also think some of our pitchers need some rest, namely Crochet, who is on pace to lead the league in IP, just months after most of us worrying about his ability to pitch more than 150 IP.
  11. It's reasonable to think a .609 batter who has not other skills should be demoted. I try to be as optimistic as possible and have said Masa may still be able to hit near .800, but to me, he used up his chance. Was last night enough to loosen the leash? Maybe. Until Abreu returns, the urgency is not as dramatic. The extra roster player helps, too.
  12. Well, if SFG fans are anything like Sox fans, they are not happy. They are 29-38 since the trade, and it's all about wins, right? They were doing rather well before the trade: 41-31.
  13. Seems like a lot of line drive outs the past 2 weeks. I'm not worried.
  14. I guess the figured today Yoshida would erupt. These guys know everything!
  15. The young Dwight was thinner and stood tall for a year or two at bat.
  16. 18 hits and no BBs. Crochet might have lost the Cy Young Award, but who cares? 4 to 9 batters all had 2 or more hits. 8 Runs & 8 RBI!
  17. Campbell was a single short of the cycle. Early went 6 w 10 K and 0 BB but 1 ER. Rogers pitched well in an 8-1 POR win. Tygart pitched well in a 1-0 loss by GRE.
  18. Great game and show of offense, when you need it. I should keep ragging on Masa and talking about Rafaela's weak hits! LOL!
  19. He's 10 for his last 19. Play the guy. I'm fine with playing DHam vs RHPs and Romy vs LHPs at 2B, but Lowe is so awful v LHPs, maybe Romy is needed there, more. I'd DH Romy over Yoshida v R. I'd choose Campbell, first but he's at Woo hitting homers.
  20. The better question is how many? of Who is next? I've given up asking... When does ___ get back?
  21. I'm fine with DHam at 2B v R. Romy can DH over Masas vs R. Romy is killing it. L or R, of late, including tonight.
  22. OPS by batting slots 5 to 9: BOS: 740, 747, 609, 725, 812 (many will be better after tonight) NYY: 785, 730, 703, 682. 642 TOR: 780, 747, 704, 664, 701 DET: 707, 720, 704, 727, 613 HOU: 694, 714, 700, 630, 675 SEA: 688, 734, 675, 664, 636 The Sox place: 3rd, 1st, 6th, 2nd, 1st
