  1. YES! Although I'm a huge Marco fan, and I've wanted him on the 25 man roster for a long time, I've been hesitant about calling for him to take Pablo's job away. You're right: he's not a 3Bman. He's trying his best, but we shouldn't get down on him for being forced to play out of position. We should also realize that, as of right now, he's no better on defense than the 2015 and 2017 Pablo showed us.
  2. If Wright was not given another chance last year, we probably don't make the playoffs.
  3. I'm not even close to "moving on" from Wright as a starter. I would say that when Price returns, he looks like the logical one to go to the pen.
  4. Small sample size, but Marco's UZR/150 was worse than Pablo's even before last night.
  5. I'm ready now!
  6. Yes- true, but most of the spectacular plays last night were from 3B and CF.
  7. Reminiscent of the Brooks Robinson/Paul Blair days.
  8. Watching the O's defense last night was amazing. Ours was the opposite. I thought our D would look improved this year- so far not.
  9. Some tiny sample sizes here, but these are our UZR/150 numbers at 3b since 2015: 5.4 A Hill 2.3 T Shaw -9.9 Holt -16.6 Rutledge -22.0 Sandoval -32.2 Marrero -37.5 Hernandez I really have a lot of hope for Marco, but I'm not sure 3B is the right spot for him. He's there out of need now, but anything long term scares me.
  10. True. There's room for all three: Marco, Rutledge and Holt. The big choice will come when Pablo returns.
  11. It may morph into a personal caddy rotation anyways, so all this sample size talk could be pointless.
  12. It's not like I'll be upset, if they choose Holt over Rutledge. I do think Marco should stay, when Holt is activated. They may choose to send the guy down who still has options- MH.
  13. Does that also mean Leon is likely to get hot after slumping so badly for a couple weeks?
  14. There may be disagreement over 350 vs 500. To me, I think 800 is much more telling than 500. If I use 500, I'd use the most recent 500. Vaz, Leon and Swi have less than 10 PAs vs just about every starter they will face this year. We all agree those sample sizes are near useless. I do think one could make a specific determination such as who hits fast ball pitchers better in general vs who hits breaking ball pitchers better or lefty-righty splits..
  15. I agree, but the sample sizes all of our catchers have against individual pitchers are so tiny, they can't really mean too much.
  16. I project a 11-2 vioctory. The bats "wake up".
  17. It's too bad Leon is worse vs RHPs than LHPs. Much worse. It would be nice, if we could play Vaz vs all LHPs and half the righties and maximize the splits. In this area, Swihart seems to match up better, as he hits righties better.
  18. But, that's made up for by the huge RF, and last night hit was a blooper down the line in RF. My guess is all but the Sox would have sent the runner on that play. I've seen too many bases loaded- no out and no runs scored by the Sox to not send Marco.
  19. Our biggest weakness defensively is 3B (with Pablo). Our biggest weakness hitting vs LHPs is 3B (with Pablo). Marco might turn out better vs LHPs than Rutledge, but it is too soon to know. And, I'm a huge Marco fan and have been since day one. Rutledge offers something we may need- a right-handed bat who can play decent defense at 3B. He's not a clear choice over Holt. He's not a clear choice over Marco vs LHPs. He is a clear choice, to me, vs LHPs when compared to Pablo.
  20. Makes sense. Imagine what Leon's numbers would look like had he not had a great first few games!
  21. They should have sent Marco. We're the only team in the league that doesn't score on those types of hits more than 80% of the time (by my estimation).
  22. Rutledge is probably a better fielding 3Bman than Pablo and Marco, and he hits from the right side. (In all fairness, Holt hits LHPs slightly better than righties, but I still think Rutledge at 3B vs LHPs is better than Marco, Pablo and Holt.)
  23. You got it wrong. I love Hernandez more. Rutledge fits with Hernandez and Pablo better than Holt.
  24. Now that Beni has graduated from prospect status, soxprospects.com has a new ranking list. The first 6 guys went up one slot, but after that there was some movement. Some notable or significant swings... (Remember up 1 is expected.) Lakins up 5 from 12 to 7th. Ockimey up 2 to 8th. Chavis up 2 to 9th. Johnson up 3 to 10th Shaun Anderson up 6 to 13th Ben Taylor up 4 to 16th. Beeks up 6 to 17th. A Taverez up 10 to 18th. Callahan up 12 to 21st. Raudes down 4 to 12th. Longhi down 2 to 11th. Jake Cosart down 11 to 26th T Ball down 13 to 30th. 1-20th: http://soxprospects.com/index.html 21+: http://soxprospects.com/moreprospects.htm
  25. It might be time to trade him.
