  1. This is just my opinion, but to me, just about every Sox player, except Sale, Kimbrel, Pom and Vaz have deserved some criticism at some point this year, but the two players getting the most (besides Pablo, of course) have been HRam and Young- our 4th OF'er. Think about it. Are those two really the most deserving of criticism? I'm not saying they have played well enough to not be criticized, but why them so much over others?
  2. I think he meant not making a case for a good arb raise or hefty extension. Nobody is saying we should not go to arb with Bogey.
  3. Total blue skies. Warm. Windy. The water has receded below the sidewalks. Only the streets remain covered in water here on my street. (Other areas have water still rising!) Let's get back to baseball. Oldtimer did a good job describing our situation. I'm still extremely hopeful about our chances at winning a ring and getting Pedey & JBJ back should give us that added boost we seemed to be lacking 2 days ago. Missing Pedey, JBJ, Price, Smith, Thornburg, R Ross may not be as bad as some teams have it, but we've done a great job winning despite all these issues. We are better than we were in the first half. We've added Devers, Nunez, Davis & Workman. We've seen down years from every hitter, except Vaz, but still we are doing as well as last year. There's a lot of good to see, if you look. You don't even have to look hard. Every team has tough times every year. I'm hopeful we don't go through a tough one come playoff time. It looks like we're getting our s*** together and once we get healthy and we can get rested by September call-ups, we should be fine.
  4. I could see Maddox breaking ST'ing with the big club, even though I have him listed 12th. I think we could be very deep next year, assuming better pen health than 2017.
  5. Shows you how much managers value pitcher-catcher intangibles more than some think it's worth.
  6. Should be okay for a game or two, and besides, it's not like Bogey is contending for the GG.
  7. We got 35 inches here. It's a wonder our house is dry. I hear other nearby places got 49 inches with more on the way. Breaking records for the continental USA. I guess Hawaii got 52 " one time. That should be broken by some place east of us. Water is going down very slowly. They say some flooded areas may not drain out for a month. It's so damn flat here, it's like a lake.
  8. Just finished watching the game. Great game by Sale and others. 15 Ks is awesome. HRam shutting down the critics-- for a few seconds anyway. Top of the order coming through. JF's line-up worked. No complaints tonight- despite my street being under 3-4 feet of water. The water is receding, the sun came out late afternoon, Sox starting a winning streak. Life is good for my family and me. My prayers go out to others not far away from me.
  9. or change 3 and add one to form... Fu--'n Dolt
  10. Davis was really hot before the trade. The Beni splits are enormous: .624 vs LHPs .828 vs RHPs Last year, it was... .429 vs LHPs .984 vs RHPs Career: .576 vs LHPs .855 vs RHPs Personally, I would not bat Beni in the top 5 vs LHPs, but I don't have any major issues with tonight's line-up.
  11. Our last cat went missing for 5 days. She came back all skinny. This one looks fatter after the 2 days! Maybe Pablo's family took her in.
  12. Holt is not in the line-up! Quick--extend Farrell!
  13. MLB.com has this... Davis LF Nunez 2B Beni CF Betts RF Bogey SS Devers 3B HRam 1B Young DH Leon C
  14. Agreed. We can give Beni, Devers and Moreland some rest vs LHPs and HRam, Betts and Pedey vs RHPs to the point where Nunez plays just about FT.,
  15. For the Sox, it's not just about blowing past the luxury limit, it's about massive taxes over the next 2-3 years. Verlander is likely to decline further.
  16. We did have a lot of days off earlier in the month. You're right though, some of our players look tired- some banged up.
  17. Now might not be the time to give vaz some work with Sale,, but it's not like Sale has done all that great with Leon recently. I agree, though. Leon should start. Maybe Vaz could DH.
  18. I'm hoping Pedey can play plus D and continue hitting in the high .700's. I think JBJ will be fine. These two returning solves our bench issues instantly.
  19. vs the lefty, I'd go.... 1. Nunez 2B 2. Bogey SS 3. Young DH 4. Betts RF 5. Vaz C 6. Beni CF 7. HRam 1B 8. Devers 3B 9. Davis LF
  20. Thanks. The water has fallen another inch or two since this morning. The end is in sight. We still have about 3-4 feet of water on our street and 1-2 feet on our front lawn.
  21. Thanks, 700. I think my wife has had that same mental vision in her dreams (nightmares)!
  22. Thanks. We have two rescued dogs as well. One is a yellow lab that just turned 17! He was skin & bones and at death's door when I found him as a one-year old puppy. The other is a 6 month old puppy.
  23. They heard everyone here screaming about "black holes", so Betts and the people at the top gave some of their hits to Vaz and the other expected bottom feeders.
  24. I used to keep score of every game in the early and mid 70's by radio. OPS is not a perfect stat, and you mentioned who is hot and who is cold... Last 28 days... .994 Vaz .967 Moreland .960 Beni .824 Young .812 JBJ .789 Devers .763 Nunez .741 Bogey .725 HRam .642 Betts .620 Leon .371 Holt (Has more PAs than Vaz and Young!) Last 14 Days... 1.395 Vaz 1.188 JBJ 1.147 Moreland .847 Bogey .690 Betts .670 Nunez .669 Leon .639 Young .636 Beni & Devers .610 HRam .405 Holt Last 7 days... 1.255 Vaz 1.244 Moreland .842 Nunez .820 Bogey .718 Betts .633 Young .583 Davis .546 Beni .469 Devers .458 Leon .449 HRam .404 Holt
  25. The water has gone down a few inches overnight. It stopped raining. The forecast calls for some sun by Wed or Thur. I'm very thankful we came through this without any damage. Our cat came back this morning after two days out in the flood. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. You will not be forgotten.
