  1. It's hard to call it "hate" when you're winning like this, but disliking JF is not something that happened overnight.
  2. It's doubtful, but a 90% C Smith might be our 2nd or 3rd best RP'er. 4th best is certainly an attainable goal.
  3. It is possible for really good teams to play very well for months on end.
  4. True, and October would be like Mid May.
  5. When you look at the names in the pen, the DL ist of relievers, the tough division we play in and the park we play in, the pen results are phenomenal, so far this year. As much as I dislike JF, he's done a fantastic job with our pitching staff.
  6. For what it's woth, Davis has been hot since the all star break. .848 OPS is last 82 PAs (small sample, for sure)
  7. He'd have to learb quickly, if we are talking about this season.
  8. I struggle with Moreland over HRam or Nunez... even vs a RHP. No way Moreland starts vs a lefty.
  9. But with HRam's 1B duties limited and Moreland banged up and horrible vs LHPs, Holt's ability to play 1B (as well as any OF position) gives him the edge over Lin or Marrero.
  10. One note on Holt: although he bats lefty, his career splits are nearly equal, and he actually hits lefties slightly better .705 to .689. This year it is even more .627 v L to .488 v R. This year, Hanley is within .001 of .770 vs lefties and righties. Resting HRam might not be a bad idea, but not because of L-R splits. (I'd also consider using Young over Holt, even vs RHPs.)
  11. Did I miss something? Why is HRam out? If HRam plays, he DHs and Nunez plays 2B. The rest is fine with me. I'd have HRam 6th, Bogey 7th, Moreland 8th and Leon 9th.
  12. If healthy, the last 3 slots go to... (My choices in order) 1. Price 2. Scott 3. Abad 4. Barnes 5. Fister 6. Hembree (I'm not sure if Scott has a lock on a slot.)
  13. It's him or Workman. Brandon has looked really good, but I'm not sure he's pitched long enough to win the 8th inning outright.
  14. I agree on Reed getting the first significant shot at being the 8th inning guy and back-up closer. Workman deserves the third man role (7/8th inning guy). I like Kelly, despite the abnormally low K rate for a flame thrower, but I'm not feeling very confident about using him in high leverage situations. Barnes and Hembree did well for us for much of the season, but I'm at the end of rope with both of them. I'm hoping Carson Smith can rise quickly enough the be the 4th guy. Maybe it's more like a prayer.
  15. So, what you are saying is JF is... Gumby! https://goo.gl/images/4VagSL
  16. Agreed. JF has done a very fine job with the staff, despite all the injuries. He was a fine pitching coach a while back.
  17. DD traded for Nunez, but you're right.
  18. 30 HRs. The top Sox guy doesn't even have 20. 19 HRam 18 Beni 18 Betts 15 Moreland 14 JBJ 10 Nunez (2teams) 8 Devers
  19. ...or, if they said nothing, and he just heard the news and reacted accordingly.
  20. Awesome win! 27 Ks in total tonight. I was beginning to wonder about Nunez... Pom with another gem, despite the 100+ pitches in just 5.1 IP. We're hitting way more HRs now. Still way down in the league, but showing signs of reaching respectability with power. Love wins like this- team effort all the way.
  21. If they did, he responded to disappointment very well.
  22. JF saved him in Monday's close game, just so he could get this opportunity. (LOL- just had to get a JF jab in.)
