You ask me to let it go, then ask a loaded question. 1) I was responding to another post. I did not bring it up. 2) I have said I'm happy with DD and I love the fact that we have/had a 4-5 year window- not 1 or 2. 3) I was not against trading prospects, in fact I suggest many over the years. The deals DD made were for players I liked a lot. Who couldn't like Kimbrel & Sale? I loved the Sale trade and suggested trading for him for several years. I even suggested a very similar trade than what actually took place. I disliked the Kimbrel trade, because he was making near FA money at the time, and I felt like 4 prospects for a FA contract was double paying. Since the trade, the closer contracts have sky-rocketed, so that part of the deal does not look so bad now. I liked Pom when we got him, but I felt like Espinoza was going to be very special. He got hurt and Pom did well for us last year. I'd still take that trade back. In short, I'd have traded Espi, Margot, and some of the side pieces for Quintana. Yes, I am happy with out team today (and next year), but Quintana had more years of control than Kimbrel and Pom, and I'd have left a few more prospects than DD left. I'm glad DD is our GM. I love Cora. I'm glad Henry is willing to nudge up to the $40M over the limit mark, but I plan on being a Sox fan in 2020 and beyong, God willing. I'm not missing the "big picture," because the big picture goes into the future. Yo me, the cliff naysayers are the ones missing the big picture. It's not contradictory to love the team we have and be concerned about the extended future- thinking maybe we could have both. I'm not upset, I'm not obsessed. There's nothing to let go of. I will, however, keep responding to loaded questions and comments I feel I want to counter or agree with.

The jury is still out on most of those traded. Margot was Theo's prospect. Guerra looks like a total bust. Moncada, Kopech and Espinoza could still show something special. The Basabes don't look as good. Some may bloom late.

JBJ always looks bad on offense for long stretches every year. He also has a hot streak(s) every year, except his first one. This should be expected. I'm not sure why so many thought this year would be different.

I'm not sure I want Nunez playing OF until his knee is 100%. That may one small reason why Swihart had more value than HRam.

My eyes show that Holt & Nunez suck on defense, but the numbers show their ok here and there. I'll be consistent and go with those that have large enough sample sizes: Nunez SS: -13.4 (2091 innings) -42 DRS 2B: -9.7 (729 innings) -15 DRS 3B: -7.1 (1902 innings) -5 DRS OF: +17.0 (322 innings) -3 DRS He sucks. B Holt -10.1 3B (876 innings) -12 DRS -6.0 1B (129 innings) -2 DRS -3.8 2B (958 innings) +2 DRS +2.5 OF (1237 innings) +18 DRS +5.8 SS (286 innings) -5 DRS He sucks, except in the OF. (SS is too small a sample size.)

He's a decent hitter with many seasons below "decent" for a starter, anyways. He's had a seasonal OPS over .758 just once (2017), which was greatly aided by his 165 PAs in Boston at .892. He was at .752 with SF before coming here. I'm thinking our views of him being a good or very good hitter might be tainted by our observations over a small sample size last year. He's a career .725 hitter. I'm thinking Swihart could surpass that. Nunez has done better since 2015, so I'm fine with viewing him as a .750 type hitter going forward, even though he is nearing post-prime. .758 2015 .758 2016 .801 2017 .617 2018

He still has a long swing, when he's in a hot streak.

I'd go with B+ on international signings. Even if we did not miss a year of signings, his overall grade would still be very good.

I'm not an expert on swings, but I don't notice much difference in JBJ's swing when he's hot or cold.

I hate using the argument that "everyone is doing it," but it's probably true. My point is, people judging Ben on FA signings and draft picks without looking at the prospects he signed as international FAs is not fair. Even with the sanctions placed on the Sox, Ben's overall international record is still an A.

They both suck on defense. Swihart is unproven at any position on defense, but I think he has the potential to hit better than Holt and Nunez career numbers. The ability to be a 3rd catcher might at least balance the defensive end. If he does hit better or the same, he should be able to stick at the ML level for some team.

If it could be proven LL was behind the Pablo & HRam signings, then Ben's final grade would be way higher.

Look at Holt and Nunez OPS numbers. They both are around .700 career. Swi hart does not need to hit all that well to stick as a utility/3rd catcher role.

True, but their momentum was shattered by countless horrific calls- all in Golden State's favor. I'm totally done with the NBA... probably forever. (I'm not even a Rockets Fan!)

The Astros havs a .718 DH OPS this year. I could see them getting him.
