  1. I'd think about it. If and when Pedey returns, we'll need to find PAs for Nunez. If Beni is still not hitting lefties, I MAY want Nunez to play LF in some of those games. (Also, If JBJ is still doing horribly on offense, I might try to get Nunez into the OF vs a few RHPs when JBJ sits a small percent of games vs RHPs more than his normal resting days.) I do not want JMart in the OF, except for maybe 2 out of 3 games when in NL parks only, as we have no DH. Other than that, I'm not pushing for any changes right now. (I might choose Lin over Holt more.) Would you keep playing Beni forever vs LHPs, if he remains at .566 (career) or .273 (2018)? He's no JBJ on defense, and you can "hide" poor defense in Fenway's LF to some extent. (Nunez has a small sample size, but his OF defensive metrics look good.)
  2. Although Hosmer is hitting .854 with the Padres, he's on pace for (160 gms)... 0 HRs 27 RBIs 195 Ks How about Duda? .699 OPS but he's on pace for...(140 gms) 40 HRs 140 RBIs 160 Ks Moustakas (on pace for 153 games) .925 34 HRs 129 RBIs 102 Ks LoMo (on pace for 152 games) .278 0 HRs 38 RBIs Santana (160 gms) .667 32 HRs 108 RBIs HRam (on pace for 146 games) .883 16 HRs 176 RBIs
  3. I said, I'm not for benching Beni or JBJ.
  4. It kind of shows how small a sample size 10 games is, when after going 9-1, we still have to play 60% ball to reach 100 wins. We have to play .566 the rest of the way to end up at 95 wins. (Our winning % last year was .574). To win 96 games we basically have to equal last year's winning % the rest of the way (.572).
  5. Some pitching splits of note: OPS Against .641 Home .569 Away .569 vs RHBs .658 vs LHBs .565 vs SP'ers .652 vs RP'ers Speaking of SP'ers.... 1-0 0.00 Price (14 IP) 1-0 1.06 Sale (17 IP) 1-0 1.50 BJo (6 IP) 1-0 1.59 Velaz (5.2 IP) 2-0 2.84 Porc (12.2 IP) 0-0 7.36 ERod (3.2 IP) Team: 6-0 1.68 (1.034 WHIP) 9.3 K/9 5.08 K/BB .222 BA against (RP'ers are at .206! But, they have walked too many with 21 in 37 IP.)
  6. I'll be thrilled with 100 wins, but we're off to a great start. To reach 100, we'd have to go 91-61... a 60% winning pct.
  7. 4 swings and misses all year!
  8. If we ever do decide to play JMart in the OF a lot, we may consider a Ben-JBJ platoon. vs RHPs .864 Beni (.839 career) .414 JBJ (.729 career) vs LHPs .533 JBJ (.702 career) .273 Beni (.566 career) I love Beni, and he's still young. I'm not for benching him vs LHPs right now, but if people are talking about benching JBJ because of his poor offense, Beni has been worse vs lefties by a long shot. [/b]
  9. Funny how adding one guy turns us into one of the best in years. (Of course, we added full seasons from Devers & Nunez, and Betts, Bogey & HRam all look over their injuries from 2017.)
  10. He did get a nice hit but not when men were on base.
  11. 10 games in, so a tiny sample size, but here are some split numbers: OPS vs RHPs 1.238 Bogey (improving in his .730 career vs RHPs) 1.227 Betts (.840 career- pretty close vs RHPs & LHPs) .983 Devers (.778 - nice to see Rafael improving here) .864 Beni (.839) .837 HRam (.838) .790 Nunez (.747) .642 JMart (.833) .623 Vaz (.656) .414 JBJ (.729) .182 Holt (.680) .286 Leon (.633 but .737 vs LHPs career) (Swihart is .724 career vs RHPs) vs LHPs 1.400 Betts (.869 career) 1.056 HRam (.897) .929 JMart (.921) .625 Bogey (.830) .533 JBJ (.702) .452 Devers (1.007 career) .443 Vaz (.686) .393 Nunez (.707) .273 Beni (.566 career- needs to improve here to stay FT) .167 Moreland (Leon .737 career , Holt career .707 & Swihart .659))
  12. If you look back, I actually expected HRam to have a good to very good year. I felt the surgery would finally help him get over the issues he had last year. That being said, I still felt he had to earn his starting role vs RH'd starters. I felt Moreland was pretty close to equal to HRam vs righties and since he's a much better defender, HRam would have to do significantly better to warrant playing FT. I also thought the Moreland signing's best attribute was that it probably keep HRam from vesting. I'm not surprised HRam is doing well. I hope he does great. He's certainly making a strong case for starting vs RHPs, and I would not sit him right now. The guy is raking with men on base, and there have been a lot of them on base recently! GO SOX! Kick these skankees to the cellar!
  13. Actually, I was quoting myself on the second one.
  14. Remember when a few people were worried about Betts doing poorly in spring training? Remember how some clown was saying we should bench HRam vs RHPs and make him earn a FT role? Remember when some said, "Wait until you play a tough opponent." I guess we'll have to wait a week, when we face the Angels.
  15. Would that be such a bad thing?
  16. Just saw the game on tape delay. Fantastic win. Betts is back in the groove. Beni seems to be starting to show life. HRam keeps banging in runs. JD hit the ball hard. JBJ even got a hit. Sale is, well... Chris Freakin' Sale!
  17. Of course, things might change between now and winter, but we're talking about what we know now. Maybe it won't come down to HRam vs Kimbrel or Hram vs POM, but if did, I'm asking what you'd choose right now- based on what we know right now.
  18. Man o man that Natasha Fatale was HOT! (But of course, hot streaks aren't for real.)
  19. Interesting to see JBJ get "promoted" to the 7 slot.
  20. 2015-2018 15th out of 30 in UZR/150 at 0.0 29th out of 30 in DRS at -23
  21. Sox wRCC+ Leaders 213 Bogey 190 Betts 163 Devers 132 HRam 109 Nunez 92 JMart 69 Vaz 65 Beni 63 Swi 23 Holt 12 JBJ -23 Moreland -53 Leon ERA- 0 Price, Kimbrel, Hembree 20 Sale 44 Poyner 60 Barnes 69 Porcello 76 Velazquez 88 Walden 104 Johnson 240 C Smith 264 Kelly
  22. never even tried to imply DD was interested in Moose.... just that i'd have preferred him to Moreland.
