  1. Even if he gets up to around.700, where he was before the concussion, his defense is not good enough to put him head of anybody on the depth chart at any position. Stash him in AAA for added depth or trade him to save over a million dollars (to be spent at the deadline).
  2. Yes, I mentioned how it was a small sample size. BTW, yesterdays catch was as a RF'er, so it will not improve his CF -12.7 UZR/150 on the season.
  3. Yes, "could" implies doubt about intent. There was no doubt both acts were with intent, and I'm not talking about "intent to break up a DP." It was intent to spike Holt's leg almost 2 feet from the base.
  4. What you don't get is the intentionality of Austin's slide.
  5. I said I was not defending Betts. You are defending Austin.
  6. I loved them before the season started. I'm guessing I was not alone here.
  7. I'd put Moreland in LF before Holt, too.
  8. I never defended the Betts slide, although he did at least go towards the base. We're talking about the Austin play. Of course Sox players have done similar things in the past... and got rightfully plunked.
  9. I lost some respect for Vaz. After Austin slammed his bat down, Vaz hesitated to get between him and Kelly. Once Austin started running, there was no way Vaz was going to catch him.
  10. I like harmony, but have called him out when I think he's wrong.
  11. YES! Today's catch was unreal!
  12. He's looked great all (short) season.
  13. Exactly, so when he acted like a punk after Holt had words with him, he actually deserved 2 plunks.
  14. His foot went nearly 2 feet to the side of the base. It wasn't unintentional. There's no "probably" about it.
  15. When we traded for Hanrahan & Holt, I liked Holt. He certainly fell out of my favor. The concussion really messed him up. I'd keep Lin and send Holt to AAA as depth.
  16. How could there not be intent? It was 100% intnetional. No doubt.
  17. He's the best Sox CF'er on defense I have ever seen. Freddy Lynn was great, darren Lewis, but JBJ is the man! Jackie Bradley Jr. makes five-star catch WWW.MLB.COM BOSTON -- Until Mookie Betts left the Red Sox's 10-3 win over the Orioles early on Saturday, forcing a shuffle in the Boston outfield, Jackie Bradley Jr. hadn't played right field since 2015. But it didn't look like it. Bradley made a spectacular catch on an Adam Jones line drive in the
  18. Another great game! Every slot, but 5 (Devers) and 7 (Leon) got on base 2 or more times. Good to see Velazquez do well. Keep it going!
  19. I disagree. It was off the ground slightly. His foot was also at least a foot and a half to the infield side of 2B (off the base and aimed directly at Holt's leg). It was not a fluke mistake. He was aiming for Holt's leg. It was "intentional" not "reckless". He deserved to be plunked. A suspension will not keep a punk from doing it again. Getting plunked might make him think twice next time.
  20. Sox hard hit % (LD%) 64 JMart (24%) 49 Betts (24%) 49 Devers (24%) 45 Moreland (15%) 37 Ramirez (23%) 36 Leon (18%) 29 Bogaerts (32) 24 Bradley (15%) 23 Vazquez (24%) 21 Nunez (14%) 17 Holt (17%) 11 Benintendi
  21. Although I've always said defensive metrics are not perfect, I use them a lot to support my opinions and beliefs. I have to say, I don't understand how UZR/150 can have JBJ at =12.7 this year, and DRS has him at -3. I know it's a small sample size, but still...
  22. Had his raised foot been aimed at 2B, it possibly could be viewed as a mistake, but even then I'd be doubtful. This was intentional as can be.
  23. Why? Kelly intentioanally hit him for doing nothing, except maybe being a little reckless, and he should respond in kind. I'm 100% convinced he raised his spikes on purpose, and he was not aiming twoards the base in any way. How can that not be as clear as day?
  24. I'd make Nunez the number one sub for.... 2B 3B SS LF CF (Beni to CF) RF (Beni to CF/JBJ to RF) DH 7 slots for Nunez, and Cora's philosophy for keeping players fresh, should get Nunez all the PAs he deserves. I'd keep Lin as our defensive IF sub. I'd keep Swihart as our 3rd 1Bman, 3rd LF'er (OF'er), 3rd catcher and 3rd DH. I'd keep Leon.
  25. I'll continue criticizing a few things here and there, but I am far and far away from disliking Cora. He's done a fine job from the start.
