  1. Yes, don't bop a drunk co-ed.
  2. Best records in MLB, so far.... .867 BOS 13-2 .857 NYM 12-2 .812 LAA 13-3 .733 AZ 11-4 .733 PIT 11-4 .643 PHI 9-5 .643 TOR 9-5 .636 MN 7-4 .625 HOU 10-6 .615 SEA 8-5 T15th - 17th NYY at .500 and 7-7
  3. So, it's a big game for the haters. I'm not expecting a great game from Price, and if he struggles, it won't change my expectations. What I'll be looking for is how he feels during and after the game, especially 1-3 days afterwards.
  4. Bench time: PAs 51 Nunez 30 Moreland 29 Holt 18 Leon 14 Lin 10 Swihart Innings on defense 107 Nunez 68 Holt 64 Moreland 38 Leon 34 Lin 10 Swihart
  5. Would you really characterize this game as must win?
  6. .378 winning % vs everyone else. .133 winning % vs Sox
  7. Team records vs Sox and vs rest of the league: Miami vs BOS 0-2 Miami vs rest 4-9 TBR vs BOS 1-6 TBR vs rest 2-6 BAL vs BOS 0-3 BAL vs rest 5-8 NYY vs BOS 1-2 NYY vs rest 6-5
  8. We probably all have a few skeletons or significant regrets. Most of mine involve inaction not wrong actions.
  9. Yes, and I believe O'Sullivan was like 8th or 9th on the depth list that year. I'm almost always for adding pitching. I differ from some by hardly ever wanting us to upgrade our 5th our 6th starter. I usually want us to upgrade from the top 2-3 slots only. Then, everyone else gets knocked down 1 notch. This winter was different. Our budget was so tight that I felt there was no money for a top 3 slot pitcher. I wasn't against signing vets to minor league deals, but I wasn't upset we started the season with basically just 3 legitimate staters on the depth chart and one (Wright) inactive for a month. I felt Velazquez and Johnson needed to get a look, and if both failed, and Pom and Wright were not back by then, we could then go out and find a journeyman pitcher at a pro-rated salary cost.
  10. They'll probably get another chance. Besides, has anyone said Price is ready to start? I'm happy Pom will be back soon. I was happy ERod came back. He looked real good in his second start.
  11. If we need to save a little money, we could trade Holt, assuming there's a taker. If not, I think we will just send him to AAA, in case someone gets hurt. Yes, Nunez can play a lot of positions. 2B 3B LF (If we sit JBJ or Betts, Nunez can play LF and others are shifted around) SS That's 6 positions. If Cora really wants to sit players a lot, then I can see Nunez playing 4 or 5 games out of 6. He can easily get 500-600 PAs, even if nobody else gets hurt from here on out.
  12. They all mixed it in with their tobacco.
  13. Makes you wonder, if Lin is some sort of superman. .802 career MLB OPS in 80 PAs. .627 AAA (162 PAs) .635 AA (789 PAs) Of course, the small sample size explains it, but he looks like he has a nice swing.
  14. I doubt Lin can sustain his hitting, but it sure has been nice.
  15. Nunez is a better OF choice than Holt or Lin, and we also have JMart, Swihart and Moreland who can play LF, so Holt's ability to play the OF is not a big factor.
  16. No, but I doubt anyone was offering Moreland anything close to what the Sox offered. The JMart situation is a little more murky. I doubt anyone came near the HRam and Pablo offers. The Price signing may have had competition.
  17. This place cracks me up!
  18. I would, too, but I'm not sure how much a month (or even longer) long hot or cold streak really affects a player's value.
  19. Sox OPS leaders 1.238 Lin (14 PAs) 1.111 XB 1.059 Betts .955 HRam .844 Swihart (10 PAs) .829 Beni .824 JMart .814 Nunez .811 Moreland (30 PAs) .721 Devers .552 JBJ .510 Holt (29 PAs) .512 Vaz .333 Leon (18 PAs) We have 7 guys with 9 or more rbi: 15 HRam 13 JMart 10 Betts & Devers 9 XB & Beni (61 MLB players have 9 or more rbis- we have 7 of them! BTW, AGon has 9 rbi.) 14 by all the rest combined (Nunez with 6) WHIP 0.76 Porcello 0.86 Kimbrel 0.95 Sale 1.00 Price & Hembree 1.20 Kelly 1.24 Velazquez 1.29 Poyner 1.30 Johnson 1.33 Walden 1.35 Barnes 1.49 ERod 2.14 Smith ERA- 0 Kimbrel 29 Sale 44 Porcello 57 Price 61 Poyner 65 Johnson 79 Velazquez 89 ERod 97 Barnes 108 Hembree 119 Walden 129 Kelly 184 Smith Team Leaders in ERA- 70 BOS & HOU 71 NYM 76 CLE 77 MN 81 AZ ...24th NYY at 117 Runs scored 103 LAA 89 BOS 87 Pitt ...7th NYY at 77 Sox are 3rd in team OPS at .795, while NYY are 7th at .755. We're 23rd in HRs, but nobody seems to care about that anymore.
  20. True, especially with the Sox continually bidding only against itself.
  21. I lived in Milwaukee during the Lombardi era. The Packers won 5 championships in 7 years (5 before the Super Bowl).
  22. Betts, too, especially in the spacious RF of Fenway.
  23. I know! 13-2 and Pom, Pedey, Bogey, Wright, Poyner, Thornburg and others joining the 25 man roster soon or at some point.
  24. True, but sometimes surgery actually makes you better than you were before the surgery.
  25. They will make a difference over the next 147 games. We are bound to hit a rough patch or two before the season is over. Hopefully, the infusion of these players coming off the DL will help minimize our future losses.
