  1. I'm not sure we'd want to jerk him around in the midst of his development. We have Pom due to become a FA, Wright's career in a sort of limbo and Johnson/Velzquez not really proven, yet. Price's health is another reason to keep possible starters stretched out.
  2. With our catcher OPS below .500, I'm surprised we have not PH for them more often. I guess being ahead 9-0 eliminates the need to PH. Nevermind.
  3. When Bogey returns, we'll probably send down Lin. When Pedey returns, it's Holt vs Swihart. I'd keep Swihart and send Holt to AAA.
  4. I'm against the idea. I'd just try to give Sale more rest by yanking him earlier than last year and taking advantage of more days off during the season schedule by not skipping lesser pitcher's starts.
  5. I wouldn't put Ellsbury over Nava on this year's best team. Actually, Nava wouldn't make the 25 man roster anyways. This is probably the 25: C Vazquez/ Swihart 1B Anthony Rizzo 2B Pedroia SS Bogaerts/ Jose Iglesias 3B Devers/ Travis Shaw LF Beni RF Betts/ Josh Reddick CF JBJ/ Manuel Margot DH HRam SP1 Jon Lester SP2 Anibel Sanchez SP3 Velazquez SP4 B Johnson SP5 Montas RP1 Maddox RP2 N Ramirez RP3 Workman RP4 Poyner RP5 Barnes Closer Wilson
  6. Who is second? Dick Williams? Hugh Duffy? Joe Cronin? Alex Cora?
  7. How about the All-Sox Drafted-first signing Team, including current Sox players? C Vazquez/ Swihart 1B Anthony Rizzo/ (HRam DH) 2B Pedroia/ Lowrie SS Bogaerts/ Jose Iglesias/ D Marrero 3B Devers/ Travis Shaw LF Beni/ Daniel Nava RF Betts/ Josh Reddick CF JBJ/ Manuel Margot DH HRam/ Moncada SP1 Jon Lester SP2 Anibel Sanchez SP3 Velazquez SP4 B Johnson SP5 Masterson/ Montas/ Kopech RP1 Maddox, P Light, Ben Taylor, N Ramirez, Walden RP2 Workman RP3 J Aro RP4 Poyner RP5 Barnes Closer Wilson
  8. We now have 7 guys with an OPS over .780: 1.249 Betts 1.111 Bogey 1.025 Moreland .921 JMart .912 HRam .838 Devers .792 Nunez .782 Beni .668 Holt .663 JBJ .595 Vaz .261 Leon Funny how a 15-2 record has completely silenced the Catcher Offense critics. I suppose when we hit a slump, calls for Swihart to catch will resume. Gotta like how our catchers are getting the most out of our staff! Team Catching OPS: 30th BAL .444 29th KCR .480 28th BOS .485 I doubt we end up sub .600 by season's end, but even if we do, I'm not messing with our catchers.
  9. No, I'm saying I'd prefer Nunez at bat over Holt & Swihart. I'd prefer Nunez in LF, defensively over either of them. Holt might be better on defense than Nunez at 2B, SS & 3B, but I'm not sure. My guess is, Nunez is better than Swihart, defensively at 3B. Swihart can get ABs at catcher and PH'er, and if someone gets hurt, he can play more, but a squeeze is going to happen when Pedey comes back. We didn't sign Nunez to ride the bench.
  10. SP'er WAR 1.1 Porcello (T 2nd) 1.0 Sale (T 2nd) 0.4 Price (T 31st) 0.3 ERod (T 45th) ERA- (20+ IP) 29 Sale (4th) 33 Porcello (6th) 53 Price (18th)
  11. Bautista signs a minor league deal with the Braves.... to play 3B!
  12. Perhaps the biggest plus Pedey will bring to the team is that Nunez will gobble up most of Holt's and Swihart's PAs.
  13. Travis is now batting .350.
  14. Quiroz has 4 taters and is hitting .400!
  15. RBI Leaders, as of now... 15 Devers 15 HRam 13 Betts 13 JMart 10 Beni 9 Bogey Before tonight, there were 19 ML players with 13+ RBI.
  16. Moreland? Sox HRs 5 Betts 3 JMart 3 HRam 3 Devers 2 Nunez & Bogey 1 JBJ & Holt 0 Moreland (although he did hit 22 last year.
  17. Then, put Margot over Ellsbury in CF.

  20. Moreland is not very good vs LHPs. Then, he not only plays, but he's batting 4th. JF hit Moreland 4th and 5th a lot as well. I don't get it. I love Cora, but I'm sctratching my head. (Now, watch Moreland pull a Holt on me tonight.)
  21. Yes, I should not have put Moreland in this line-up. Maybe play Nunez in LF, Holt at 2B and Lin at SS.
  22. Tonight should be the day you plan to have Beni (or JBJ) sit, since we are facing a lefty. I might try this... 1) Betts RF 2) Nunez 2B 3) HRam DH 4) JMart LF 5) Devers 3B 6) Moreland 1B 7) JBJ CF 8) Vaz C 9) Lin SS
  23. We were missing 2 of our 3-5 and 3 of our 3-6 starters when the season opened. I also thinkour rotation stacks up pretty well in the playoffs as well. Teams usually can get by with 3 starters and occasional start from the 4th starter. 1. Sale (as good as anybody else's #1.) 2. Price (when healthy, better than most playoff teams' #2.) 3/4. Pom/Porcello/ERod (other teams may have us beat here, but with 3 guys to choose 2 from, we can hold our own here.)
