  1. We'll have some more hot stretches and some more cold stretches. When it's all done, we'll be around 98-100 wins.
  2. Cool Hand Luke was an alltime great movie.
  3. soxprospects reports... The PawSox blasted three home runs and Rusney Castillo had his best game of the season as Pawtucket came out on top in a slugfest. Steven Wright was cruising through five innings in his second rehab start, but he hit a wall in the sixth as he allowed the first four batters to reach base without recording an out before he was pulled. All four eventually came in to score, and he ended the day with five runs allowed over five innings, with a walk and four strikeouts. Marcus Walden allowed the inherited runners to score in his first appearance since being optioned on April 20. A great outing from Roniel Raudes led Salem past the Pelicans. Raudes tossed six shutout innings and allowed only two hits while walking one and striking out three. He has allowed one earned run or less in four of his five starts on the season. Alex Scherff's rough start to the year continued as he surrendered four runs over five innings, walking three.
  4. My kingdom for a crooked number!
  5. Maybe they misjudged his readiness and felt he was near 100%. It does look, in hindsight, like he should have gotten another 2-3 rehab starts in AAA before being called up. It's not always easy judging these things. Maybe he looked sharp in his rehab, and they felt he was ready. Maybe, he regressed a little from his last rehab start. There's a lot we don't know.
  6. Vaz is really struggling at the plate. He kept the AB going with all those foul balls, but then, sadly the ole GIDP.
  7. I'm hopeful Pom gets back to the form he had the first half of 2016 and all of 2017. Despite pitching while injured for half of 2016, Pom still ranks here from 2016-2017: 11th in ERA- at 77 26th in xFIP at 3.94 27th in Starter WAR (5.9) I understand the frustration over not getting to the 7th inning enough. It bugs me, too. But numbers like these deserve more than a 2 game chance after returning from an injury. I'm thrilled with Velazquez, and I don't disagree on him "deserving" a shot, but his time will come. If he keeps pitching like he is, he'll pitch more and more, and eventually, he'll find a a way to being a starter.
  8. Best Away OPS 1.148 Holt 1.124 Betts 1.000 Bogey .860 JMart .799 HRam .788 Devers .761 Moreland .686 JBJ .632 Nunez .539 Vaz .533 Beni .237 Swihart .154 Lin .133 Leon
  9. Our team OPS vs LHPs is a frightening .549! I know it's a small sample size, but we have several players who have struggled vs lefties for years. Here are our splits: vs RHPs (.865 team OPS) 1.261 Bogaerts 1.249 Betts 1.060 Lin .987 JMart .901 Moreland .884 HRam .862 Holt .838 Beni .810 Nunez .796 Devers .749 JBJ .479 Vaz .445 Swihart .375 Leon vs LHPs 1.292 Holt .909 Bogey .892 Betts .733 JMart .711 HRam .690 Moreland .625 Vaz .561 Devers .400 Swihart .316 Beni .310 JBJ .282 Nunez .000 Leon .000 Lin
  10. Good point. The extent of the hatred and anger by the few is what is shocking. These are our own players! Saying these things about a Yankee might be udnerstandable.
  11. I've never cared much for the whole lefty-righty line-up construction thing. I was okay with Moreland in the line-up, although he much worse vs lefties, but why bat him 4th? I don't think batting a notoriously weak hitter vs LHPs 4th just so we don't have 4 righties in a row is a good idea.
  12. I get your point, but what if Velazquez had started the season with 2 bad starts. We'd never have known he was this good. Pom has pitched near great baseball, despite his inability to get past 5 or 6 innings, for almost two full seasons. The only time he was mediocre or bad was when he was battling or retunring from an injury. Couldn't one feel he "deserves a chance" as well- a chance longer than 2 innings? 3 bad pitches. If he had just 1 or 2, we'd probably have won. So basically, we should bench him over 1 too many bad pitches? IMO, Pom deserves at least 3-4 starts, unless he looks like he's lost it. Velazquez is doing great in the long relief role, and he'll probably get another chance to show he's better than Pom or ERod. Time will tell. If Velazquez turns out to be a stud, he'll be fresh for the playoffs.
  13. If losing 4 out of 6, none by more than 3 runs and two by 1 run, bring this out in our fans, despite the 19-6 record, wait until we have a stretch where we're 15-17 or even 17-15. I get the heat-of-the-moment frustration and anger, although I tend to not let any single game or moment get my emotions going, but we're seening hatred and spite hours later. Deep personal attacks on players' characters and extreme attacks on players' skill levels. A one or two game win streak is the only thing that will stop it. No way the JBJ thread gets moved up, if he walks. One freakin' AB and he's crucified. To be honest, I don't know how some people can't realize how unhealthy it is to have so much anger over such a trivial things, or worse yet, they realize it's a bad thing, but have little self-control. I'm not trying to say this in a mean or spiteful way; I'm hoping some posters can begin to enjoy baseball and life, even when some things don't go right. I actually enjoyed last night's game. We fought back after falling behind early. We got some big hits and nice defensive plays (some by JBJ), and we ended up having a good chance at winning late in the game. We fell one big hit short. Why should one less hit make or break my evening? (Note" I'm not trying to imply I'm better than anyone else, or that I don't get very frustrated at times watching the Sox, but we play 162 games for a reason. This isn't football. It's a misstep in a long marathon.)
  14. So JBJ's character should be solely judged by this one act with Eck? Ever heard of glass houses? I admit, I know very little about JBJ's and other Sox players' characters, but I've seen nothing to bring out such intense hatred and spite, This kind of stuff is what gives Sox fans a bad name. I hate it when JBJ strikes out with the tying run on base late in a game, too, but come on!
  15. Nope. Doesn't go with the word Hosmer.
  16. I'd put Pedey where Nunez is (6th vs LHPs and 7th vs RHPs with Beni flipping slots). If Pedey starts hitting like old, then maybe I think of another shuffle.
  17. There are advantages having some power up in the one slot, especially late in games when the bottom of the order is up. I've heard the 2 slot is supposed to be where your best hitter goes, so I'm fine either way. Just move Bogey up. Maybe Beni can thrive in the 5 or 6 slot (maybe 7th vs LHPs)
  18. Beni doesn't make two plays JBJ made tonight. If that's worth 2 hits on offense, then JBJ had a good game. Tough last AB.
  19. I'm hoping Cora starts thinking about moving Bogey to the 1 or 2 slot. He gets on base. He's not a great runner, but he's better than Beni on the basepaths. I'd like to see Betts up 2nd, but either way is fine with me. I'm not complaining or being critical of Cora, but I'd never put Moreland 4th, either. I'd like this... 1) Bogey 2) Betts 3) HRam 4) JMart 5) Devers 6) Beni 7) Nunez 8) JBJ 9) Vaz
  20. 2 starts, after returning from a long DL stint.
  21. It's going beyong getting "pissy". This is sick. "Hammer and tong over stats?" Yeah, at times I felt like saying, You Suck!" to a Sox player, but we're talking intense hatred hours after the heat of the moment. You guys can rant and rave all you want. I'm not telling anyone what they can do or can't do, but this is getting me depressed. That's on me- not you. I get that, but all this BS makes we think about taking a long break from all this testosterone-fueled drama.
  22. It's like a plague here. You'd think we were 6 and 19.
  23. Imagine what this place will be like when we lose 2 games in a row 10-2 and 12-1!
  24. Agreed. JBJ was not the reason we lost. Not even close. When I saw this thread moved to the top, itmade me shake my head before even opening the thread.
