  1. So, that makes 12 teams out and 2 on the bubble as of right now. That's about half the teams as sellers.
  2. Some pansy Texans wear special gloves that disallow the upward movement of the middle fingers.
  3. On the farm today.... AAA Cuevas 7 IP, 5H, 2ER, 0BB, 8K Castillo 2 for 5 (.313) T Renda 2 for 5 (.472) Buttrey blows the save AA (10-0 blow-out) Teddy Stanki 8 IP, 3H, 0ER, 0BB, 5K Ockimey 3 for 3, HR, 2B, 3 RBI D Hernandez 5IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K (3.90 ERS now)
  4. To me, it makes more sense to get a basher that forces JD to be our FT DH (except in NL parks).
  5. I always thought I was the only Texan never to own a gun. If they allowed bazookas to be sold, my guess is 40% of Texans would buy one.
  6. Team with no chance: BAL -30 KCR -30 CWS -24 DET -17.5 TEX -17 Pretty much dead: SD -14.5 TOR -14 MIA -13 NYM -13 MN -12.5 CIN -10 Bubble LAA -9 TBR -8.5 PIT -5.5
  7. We could see a lot of waiver deals as teams thinking their in it on July 31st, find out they are not by the end of August. Also, as of right now, 9 of the 15 AL teams ate 8.5 or more games behind the last WC slot. They'd have to pass 2 of these teams: NYY, SEA or OAK. I can see the TBR or LAA passing Oakland but not the other two. My guess is 9 AL teams already see themselves as out of it. The NL is different. Only 4 teams are 10 or more games out of the WC slot. The other 11 are all within 5.5 games of the last slot. That may change by July 31st, but maybe not. There could be some more out by the end of August.
  8. I guess they could move Bellinger to OF, Turner to 1B and slot Machao at 3B, but that's a lot of moves to get Machado to a position (3B) he doesn't even want to play.
  9. Four years and twelve days ago, the trade of 2 months of Andrew Miller netted the Sox 7 MLB seasons of Eduardo Rodriguez.
  10. Me neither. Never said it. Never typed it.
  11. I second that evaluation. Here's a good one: We get to the Canadian border and the lady asks, "Do you have any guns, mace or any other weapons?" "No," I respond. "Do you have any guns at home?" she then asks. "No," I say again. "None?" she says again as she looks at my Texas Licence plate with a puzzled look on her face.
  12. I wonder, if he retired, gave up his money and then signed to a coaching contract at the same rate, if we could wiggle out of the luxury tax money.
  13. I wonder why the cupboard is so bare. I'm thinking that we did not give up much for Peacre. Maybe we can get a decent starter and RP'er for similar prospects. I'd hate to lose Groome, Mata or Houck.
  14. I think we did things just right. We have 3 starters out and, as is, can still bridge to the deadline to sort out who will be back and who won't be.
  15. He may. wish he did.
  16. Sox current OPS leaders: 1.139 Betts (Just sick!!!) 1.039 JD (Everything we wanted and more.) .952 Pearce (1.192 with Sox) .897 Beni (Blossoming in front of our eyes.) .889 Bogey (Living up to the early hype.) .853 Moreland (Loving life in Boston.) .748 Holt (Stay strong, please!) .715 Devers (One area we could get much better going forward.) .652 Leon (Got himself up to respectability.) .644 Nunez (One of the few disappointments. Injury???) .642 JBJ (Coming on strong.) .548 Vaz (Gotta keep bringing the OPS up.) .513 Swihart (Not really solidifying his future in Boston.) ERA (Listed in order of IP 2.23 Sale (Chris FREAKIN' Sale!) 4.13 Porcello (That shellacking really hurt his ERA.) 4.42 Price (Stay healthy is all I ask.) 3.44 ERod (Get healthy, please!) 2.66 Velazquez (Quietly became our #5 innings guy.) 4.20 Johnson (Bringing up his numbers.) 2.36 Barnes (Doing better than some give him credit for.) 1.77 Kimbrel (Buttah!) 3.79 Hembree (1.34 WHIP is scary.) 4.31 Kelly (Maybe better suited for the 7th inning.) 6.81 Pom-pom (WTF?) 1.62 Workman (Maybe our best hope for an in-house, second-half pen boost) 3.68 Walden (One can hope.) 1.69 Poyner (Sleeper.) 5.40 Thornburg(3.1 IP)
  17. I'm in Canada now (Montreal). They seem to be going nutty over the deal.
  18. You can't separate 2 independent clauses with a comma. You need a conjunction of a colon/semi colon. (The "Can't say" clause is implied to be "I can't say.")
  19. We have 2-3 players we could DFA without losing much.
  20. Opening Day Budget Rankings & their closer (saves leader) 2018 saves SFG: Stickland 12 BOS: Kimbrel 30 Cubs: Morrow 22 WSH: Herrera 14 NYM: Familia 17 HOU: Giles 12 (recently demoted) LAA: Parker 10 SEA: Diaz 36 TOR: Clippard 6 NYY: Chapman 27 LAD: Jansen 27
  21. Here's a look at some of our key players and their OPS progression/regressions: Old to New Red=worst Blue=best Betts .820>.897>.803>.1139 Bogey .776>.802>.746>.889 Beni .776> .897 Bradley .832>.835>.726>.642 JD .879>.908>.1.066>1.037 Moreland .812>.720>.769>.853 Vazquez .735>.548 Leon .845>.644>.652
  22. Once again, I did not watch a single pitch of the AS game.
  23. I would like to point out the importance of punctuation in that sentence. It should be a colon or semi colon.
  24. If he starts to decline, then we'll have to look at Lin/Nunez and decide if we need to try Phillips or make a trade. The waiver wire date is a long ways away, and we should know more by then.
  25. If we get a rental, it won't affect going over in coming years. My wonder is about Henry being viewed as the next Stienbrenner. We're going to have a budget more than 20% higher than the next team, if we go large now.
