  1. No, but we do have several days off this month, and presumably, Pom should be getting stronger as he moves away from his injury and rehab period.
  2. ...and it doesn't mean he might choose to stay in Boston for slightly less than the highest bid. He's just trying to maximize his salary. It does not dishearten me.
  3. While many big contracts fail from the start, most hurt towards the end of the deals. The JD contract was not long. It was a great deal for us and probably for JD as well.
  4. Yes, and although Brasier was not a mid season pick-up (He was signed in March), we can add him to DD's wise lower level moves total.
  5. JD should have gotten more, so to me, that was a "mid range" deal. (LOL)
  6. Yes, and Pom showed us that after his disappointing second half of 2016 and return to form for all of 2017. Yes, Pom needs to prove he's back. I'm not sure, if he needs to be "lights out" over his next 4-5 starts as DOJI suggests, but with Sale, Wright & ERod out, he's wiggled back into the picture. I hope he does not squander this chance. You know he wants to do well with his impending free agency looming this winter.
  7. I guess it's only all about what you've done recently, except for Swihart, where we can go all the way back to 2015 or use just his last 36 PAs.
  8. Add me to this camp.
  9. I understand why there's all this talk on Pedey, and I'd like to add that if he realizes he's done, I hope he will retire and forgo the remainder of his contract. The Sox could then sign him to a lifetime services contract as a coach for about the same amount he gave up. Kinsler is a real pro. I love this move by DD. The Pearce deal was pure genius. Maybe DD should just stick to these mid range deals and stay away from big name free agents.
  10. I've been on the road traveling with family, but I did scratch my head over the Yankee deals. Adam Warren for slot money. 1.6 WAR since 2017 (2.45 ERA and 1.02 WHIP) How much did you guys lose in farm depth with the Lynn and other deals?
  11. Thanks for the updates. I've always been very high on Wright. His injuries always seem to get in the way. I'm hopeful we see a healthy Wright this season.
  12. Rule 5 this December: Victor Acosta Christopher Acosta Yoan Aybar Roldani Baldwin Trey Ball Juan Barriento Edilson Batista Eduard Bazardo Danny Bethea Jordan Betts Marino Campana Rusney Castillo Michael Chavis Luis Colmenares Eduard Conde Harrison Cooney Jake Cosart Ricardo Cubillan Enmanuel De Jesus Chad De La Guerra Jhonathan Diaz Jerry Downs Nick Duron Junior Espinoza Willis Figueroa Devon Fisher Austin Glorius Daniel Gonzalez Juan Hernandez Darwinzon Hernandez Oscar Hernandez Tyler Hill Dedgar Jimenez Trevor Kelley Trenton Kemp Matt Kent Travis Lakins Marcos Lantigua Adam Lau Deiner Lopez Isaias Lucena Chris Madera Freiberg Marin Danny Mars Algenis Martinez Tate Matheny Kevin McAvoy Daniel McGrath Samuel Miranda Joseph Monge Mark Montgomery Jhon Nunez Josh Ockimey Angel Padron Yorvin Pantoja Yankory Pimentel Jordan Procyshen Roniel Raudes Austin Rei Hildemaro Requena Denyi Reyes Eddy Reynoso Jeremy Rivera Jake Romanski Teddy Stankiewicz Kevin Steen Cole Sturgeon Josh Taylor Luke Tendler Josh Tobias Carlos Tovar Kyri Washington Jantzen Witte
  13. Let's say we lose Pom, Eovaldi,Kimbrel & Kelly to free agency. We'll certainly sign someone(s) over the winter, but here is what we'll have to work with beyond any additions or re-signings: SP'ers 1. Sale 2. Price 3. Porcello 4. ERod 5. Wright/Johnson 6. Johnson/Velazquez Farm depth: Haley, Shepherd, Shawaryn, Cuevas, Houck, Hernandez RP'er 1. Smith/Thornburg/Feltman 2. Thornburg/Smith/Feltman 3. Feltman/Thornburg/Smith 4. Barnes 5. Velazquez, Johnson or Wright 6. Johnson, Wright or Velazquez 7. Hembree 8. Workman/Brasier Farm depth: (Houck) Scott, Poyner, Maddox, Walden, Lakins, Stanki, Kent
  14. Certainly, if Johnson keeps pitching like his last 5 starts and Pom keeps pitching poorly, Johnson will remain in the rotation, but I'm not giving up on Pom as easily as some seem to be doing. Pom pitched great over the first half of 2016 and pretty much all of 2017. He was injured and rehabbing for some of this year. His 2018 season has been horrible, but there is still time to turn things around, assuming he is healthy. I'm not arguing Pom should start over Johnson, but both will get a few more starts before ERod returns, so we'll know a little more by then. Gotta love kicking the Yankees butts without Sale, Bogey, Vaz and Yankee killer Devers... not to mention ERod, Wright, and Smith.
  15. What's the news on Wright?
  16. Ages of our top prospects (soxprospects.com rankings) Age of top 16 17 two (Flores & Diaz) 18 two (Casas & Decker) 19 three (Mata, Groome & Northcut) 20 one (Scherff) 21 two (D Hernandez & Feltman) 22 three (Chavis, Houck & Ockimey) 23 three (Dalbec, Shawaryn & Chatham) Note: Dalbec has been moved up to the 6th slot. Chatham from 17 to 8.
  17. I'd go with Pearce, and I'm usually a platoon sort of guy. Swihart's pulled a hammy. Happ was put on the DL and gray was apparently demoted to the pen, so who knows who their 5th starter is?
  18. He's looked real good for quite a while after looking like he might get DFA'd earlier this season (6.63 ERA on May 11th). He's put together nice 5 starts in a row, despite never reaching 6 IP. IP ER (H+BB) 4.0 1 (4) 4.2 2 (10) 4.2 2 (6) 5.0 0 (5) 5.2 0 (7) I'm happy with him as our 5th starter, but when Sale and ERod come back, and Wright gets healthy again, the choice will have to be made: Wright Johnson Pomeranz
  19. Bryan Mata to DL
  20. Top AL Teams 76-34 BOS Best record in MLB. Best record in Sox history to date. We have 6 players over .800, including 4 over .885. Batting splits: .808 v RHPs and .735 v LHPs/ .835 H and .748 A 1-2 slots .902 (.374 OBP) 3-6 slots .833 (80 HRs) 7-9 slots .644 (22 HRs) 68-39 NYY (-6.5) NY has 10 players with 8 or more HRs. They have a super strong and deep pen, but their rotation has been suspect all year and sputtering of late. Batting splits: .775 v RHPs and .839 vs LHPs/ .829 H and .754 A 1-2 slots .845 (.364 OBP) 3-6 slots .811 (84 HRs) 7-9 slots .733 (41 HRs) 69-41 HOU HOU has 3 SP'ers with an ERA under 2.90 and 2 others under 4.06. They seem to have many more holes than last year. Batting splits: .749 v RHPs and .787 vs LHPs/ .724 H and .795 A 1-2 slots .818 (.348 OBP) 3-6 slots .777 (59 HRs) 7-9 slots .697 (39 HRs) Both the Yanks and Astros hit lefties better than righties. 59-48 CLE Don't count these guys out. They have 3 guys over .798 with 24+ HRs. They also have 4 SP'ers with an ERA under 3.66. _________ 63-45 SEA 64-46 OAK 56-53 TBR (-7.5 from WC)
  21. 3 hits for Kinsler, too. Times on base tonight... 6 Betts 4 Pearce 4 JD 3 Beni 3 Kinsler 2 Nunez 2 JBJ 1 Holt 0 Swi/Leon
  22. We also should have an infusion of returning players soon... Devers Sale Wright Vaz Maybe ERod Slight possibility on Pedey
  23. Good news. Are you thinking more promotions will come soon?
  24. Ockimey with his 15th. Chavis with his 3rd. Sea Dogs sweep as Hart and Kent go 13 IP allowing 1 ER (7H 3BB) combined.
  25. I'm not going off just one stretch.... So you thought Swihart was our #1 catcher and Vaz was "expendable" a month ago?
