  1. Well, we can't blame it on being tired. I try not to read too much into tiny sample sizes.
  2. Nobody re-signed him and he never won a ring, so...
  3. Nobody is arguing that HRam is or was a good player this year.
  4. The Dodgers tried to extend his contract in 2013. They offered him a QO after his last season. You're reaching. Where's the "A-hole" evidence?
  5. So, any player that only wins one ring and doesn't get signed is an A-Hole? The question was, name one thing that makes him an A-Hole, and you went off on how much he sucks as a player, which I don't disagree with.
  6. I'm a penny-pinching, coupon-clipping miser. $100 bucks is a lot, to me.
  7. It would be nice to help force the Yanks to pack their bags and head to Oakland for the play-in game... Yanks currently up 1.5 on the A's (2 in loss column) The NL basically has 4 teams battling for 3 slots (NL West & Wild Card) NL West: LAD up 1/2 game on COL Wild Card: MIL up 3 on STL and 3.5 on COL (COL 1/2 behind STL)
  8. That's different from calling him an A-Hole.
  9. It was obvious we did not feel Shaw was going to do anywhere near as well as he did after the trade. If you look at his history, he had had about 4 bad half seasons to 4 good ones in his previous 4 seasons in minor league ball. He was a pretty good defender at 1B and seemed to hold his own at 3B pretty well. I actually chose Shaw as my sleeper prospect long, long ago, but I had since given up on him as anything more than a role player. I actually liked the Thornburg trade, because I was super high on Thornburg. The guy had great numbers vs lefties and looked to have closer stuff. At the time, I hated giving up Dubon more than Shaw.
  10. I'd have given 20 to 1 odds and a hundred bucks. Honestly. I'd have given 100 to 1 odds on 20 bucks. I'm not a gambler, so that's a lot to me.
  11. My 2019, assuming we win a ring: SP: Sale, Price, ERod, Wright, Johnson, Velazquez (Porcello traded) RP: Cody Allen, Brasier, Barnes, Workman, Hembree, Poyner/Thornburg/Smith C: Leon, Vaz, Swihart 1B: Devers, Chavis/Ockimey (Moreland traded) 2B: Pedey, Holt (maybe Phillips) 3B: Nunez/Devers (maybe Dalbec/Chavis) SS: Bogey, Hernandez/Lin LF: Beni CF: JBJ RF: Betts DH JD If we don't win, we keep Porcello, Moreland and maybe Kimbrel on the shortest deal he'll take.
  12. We also gave up Dubon.
  13. It's all voodoo clown s***. Our "magic number" was zero on August 5th.
  14. If Snell is in consideration, then so is Sale, and I'd go with Sale. They are both pretty close in IP. Diaz who? My vote for Cy Young would go to Sandy Leon.
  15. If we win, I'd be fine with that idea. I'd look to deal away some players with just one year left...Moreland, Nunez, Thornburg and maybe even Holt. Decide which big names to keep and think about trading one for some young top talent. Trade Porcello. I'm thinking maybe Bogey, but I'm not sure Chatham is a realistic replacement. Since we have no OF depth, I'd keep JBJ, but I could see trading him not Bogey. If we can't or don't want to pay large for Sale, we could trade him, but if we let Porcello go and trade Bogey or JBJ, we can afford Sale.. We cans till have a very good team with a core of Betts, JD, Sale, Beni, Bogey or JBJ, Devers & ERod. We could reset and start adding to the core right away and be back in top competition in a pretty short time... (or not).
  16. Were Thornburg and/or Smith "uncontroversially high quality pieces?"
  17. Why should it matter about other guys hitting? Leon is a big net plus, even when he hits .525. That doesn't change because others don't hit well. I wouldn't get rid of Leon for an offensive catcher, if it means we add a half run to our pitching ERA. If we can find a good hitting catcher who gets the same out of our staff, then go for it, but that won't come cheap.
  18. I keep hearing Margot was blocked. We drafted Beni in June of 2015 and traded Margot in November of 2015. I wasn't aware Beni had been penciled into LF at the time of the trade. We also went and signed Chris Young in December of 2015. That was after the Margot trade. BTW, who played LF the most in 2016? Innings 479 Holt 446 Young 232 Beni 143 Brentz 114 Swihart Nah, we had no room for Margot.... NOT!
  19. True, but I was wrong about saying Dalbec and Chavis are playing against mostly younger players-- younger "prospects" maybe, but most players are older.
  20. Leon should not be in red. He's a lock. It's Vaz and/or Swihart. I'd take Swihart over the 12th pitcher and Workman over Poyner as the 11th pitcher.
  21. True, but you don't forget your impulses, and you probably take pride in not hearing you "bought championships" like the said about the Yanks for decades. I seriously doubt it is Henry's intention to be the biggest spender year after year. I have no evidence to support my belief, but this is the first year he's gone way over the limit, and he sees our window is now.
  22. You'd be surprised how gaining a penny on thousands of shares of stock can turn to millions when you do it over and over again.
  23. Yes. Most of these mega-millionaires made money by pinching pennies not just dollars. Asking or expecting Henry to change his philosophy is wishful thinking. I fee we are lucky he decides to go $40M over this year and pay a huge tax.
  24. The best thing about Bogey's defense is that he does not make a lot of errors. He makes routine plays. The best SSs make routine plays AND ones Bogey does not get to.
  25. I don't see a drastic point, where you lose a lot of key players in 1 year, and there's not enough money to keep everyone of fill their shoes. Your farm is also much stronger than ours, so some holes will be filled from within. Too many young stars far away from free agency to worry about it.
