  1. I agree. I've always liked Workman as well. He was really good before the injuries and has shown a lot of promise upon his return.
  2. Eck seemed lost.
  3. STOP! This has been discussed and shot down too many times to keep brining it up.
  4. Yes. There might have been a slight chance one pitcher could be swapped depending on whether the Yanks or A's won, but I think his plan might have been Kelly & Hembree all along.
  5. Here's the problem with that. We give up a great-glove, pretty good (or better) hit CF- a net loss - and keep JD mostly at DH, which makes him unhappy. We'd be trying to fix something that's not broken. Dewey, you know JBJ is almost the last guy I wanna trade. That being said, trading JBJ and adding a great glove CF'er with a .680 OPS should not make JD any more upset than he already might be. While we would see a loss in CF offense, the player we get back for JBJ would, in theory, add as much or more value to another position-- like SP'ing. For example, let's say we trade JBJ, Johnson & Velazquez for Carrasco (not saying CLE would do this). The net gain at SP'er might offset the loss of offense in CF, assuming CF defense remains even.
  6. I had to turn the sound off. It was horrible.
  7. Your thesis was not about letting our pen pitch the whole game. It was just adjusting the order of our pitchers. I still think the A's pen was a better choice than Fiers. Besides, they could have used Fiers anyways- in relief but chose not to.
  8. My choices (in order) 1. Poyner 2. Workman 3. Kelly 4. Hembree My guess at DD & Cora's choices: 1. Kelly 2. Poyner 3. Hembree 4. Workman
  9. IMO and UZR's, Ellsbury was not a plus on defense until 2008. Beni > Ells JBJ > Crisp Betts > JDrew
  10. They already have the best coffee boy in MLB!
  11. Eovaldi does okay in NY, but I like Wright a lot. I picked Porcello, too, as the one who might step up and lead us to the next round. Sale should get two at Fenway, if it goes 5. I like that. Price could pitch game 2 and come in as a RP'er in Fenway game 5. We need Porcello, Eovaldi and Wright to carry us in NY. Maybe ERod can step it up in NY.
  12. I hope we don't trade JBJ, but I agree, it might happen. I'd hate to do it just to get JD more OF time, and we'd have to get a DH, too. I'd really like to keep Betts in RF. If we trade JBJ, we could sign a great glove-no hit CF'er for cheap and keep JD mostly at DH.
  13. The pen is better than Fiers.
  14. QO offers set at $17.9M. Kimbrel: Yes Pom: No. Note: A draft pick after Round 4 will be awarded if the team losing the free agent paid luxury tax penalties in the preceding season.
  15. Dan Duquette out as well.
  16. I'm with you 100% on this. I loved the Vic signing, too, but I knew it was for too many years. (That's the only way we could get him.) Lynn-Evans JBJ-Betts What's not to love about that defense built for our park?
  17. Cora has us at just the right balance.
  18. Carney Lansford got us Tony Armas. Tony Armas Jr got us Pedro. I guess it was a great deal!
  19. You crack me up!
  20. If they just kept all their talent and got a good manager, we'd have probably won a ring. C- Fisk (Montgomery) 1B- Cooper 2B- Doyle/McAuliffe> Remy SS- Burleson (Guerrero) 3B- Hobson LF- Rice CF- Lynn (Reggie Smith, Rick Miller) RF- Evans (Beniquez) DH- Oglivie (Too bad about Tony C.) It was the lack of 2-3 great SP'ers at the same time that hurt the most... SP- Tiant, Lee, Wise, Cleveland, Moret> Eck, Torres, Tudor RP- Campbell, Stanley, Drago, Burton, Willoughby
  21. You really want to try something this radical, for the first time, in game one of the playoffs? I'm not against the idea, in theory, but the timing is about as bad as it gets.
  22. For what?
  23. But, PH for who? If it's a catcher, then we should have 3. Moreland & Pearce PH for each other. That leaves Kinsler.
  24. Why reward a guy for using steroids? Kopech is #19. No Yankee in top 30.
