The Giants announced Friday that they’ve signed switch-pitcher Pat Venditte to a one-year, Major League contract. The addition of Venditte brings San Francisco’s 40-man roster to a total of 38 players. Venditte’s guarantee is a modest $585K that checks in just $30K north of the league minimum.

I heard on the soxprospects.com latest podcast that the Sox plan to use a 6 man rotation the first 2-3 times through the rotation to start the 2019 season. They doubt Wright will be ready by opening day after November knee surgery. Velazquez has options, so they weren't sure he makes the opening day roster, so I guess the 6 would be: Sale, Price, Eovaldi, Porcello, ERod & Johnson. He'll be 35 next season. I'm hoping we can do better. I think a trade is the best way to get a solid RP'er and not kill our budget.

Lateral move but $4M cheaper. With RP'er costs sky rocketing, we may need that extra $4M.

Soria signs with the A's for $15M/2. Thoughts of signing a solid RP'er on the cheap seem very remote.

I never liked him either, but people flock to his movies just to see him. It might take 3-4 really bad movies for him to not be offered a lot for his next movie.

What about trading Nunez for some salary relief ($5M) and getting Tulo at min wage? We'd still have Holt, Lin, Hernandez, Swihart, Chavis, Travis & maybe Dalbec for infield depth.

Okay, but he'd be cheaper than Kinsler. The problem is, he wants to play FT, and he'll know if Pedey is healthy, he won't.

The Beckett re-signing might be second worst. Julio Lugo, Jose Offerman and others are probably far behind.

I was thrilled when we got him and predicted 50 HRs. He did well here, but he quickly broke down afterwards. Thank you, Ben, for trading CC, Beckett and AGon. The money saved and FA signings like Uehara, Napoli and Vic brought us a ring during a time we were supposed to be rebuilding.

Then just trade him to clear a roster spot and gte a less than decent prospect. Andujar at 1B makes more sense than trading him to make room for Machado. I'll be thrilled, if the Yankees get MM. He's a cancer.

We did end up signing Kinsler and had Phillips in AAA last year, so I guess the idea is not illogical.

I like Holt better than Nunez, but I don't see anyway Tulo is in our plans, unless we trade Nunez, Holt or Pedey.

Put him at 1B and trade Voit for a decent prospect.
