  1. Me too, and I'm pissed off, too. I guess I'm just not as reactionary as some.
  2. It just takes a 2-3 week slump and suddenly, it's time to trade him. We'd have nobody left, if we did that with every slumping player over the course of a season or two.
  3. Let's not forget that before these 4 straight losses, we had gone 18-8, including losing 2 out of 3 to the Astros while outscoring them, losing an 11 inning game to Colorado 5-4, and losing 6 of those 8 games by just 1-2 runs. If we go 18-8 again, starting now, how will this board react?
  4. I'd have rather added a pen arm than Pearce, but I undertsnad why we signed him: Moreland on the IL again was a good reason.
  5. We actually didn't have Eovaldi and Pearce this time last year, so the differences are: No Kimbrel, Kinsler & Kelly Added (since first half of last year): Eovaldi, Pearce, Chavis, Brasier, Weber
  6. I screwed up somewhere in my game by game summary and have us at 30-29 not 29-29, but the net totals are as such: 29 Losses: 18.5 are more the starter's fault 10.5 are more the reliever's fault 30 Wins: 11.5 are more due to the starter 18.5 are more due to the reliever Net: SP: -7.0 RP: +8.0 Can we stop blaming the pen?

  13. Trading the two players who are currently at their all time low trade value makes no sense. ERod is having a bad year, but he's a hell of a pitcher, is under team control for 2.7 more years and is our lowest paid SP'er. JBJ will be expensive next year. I doubt his trade value is high enough to make up for the losing him, even if he gets over .700 at trade time. If we are out of it at the deadline, then I can see trading him, but 1) he has to get over .700 to be worth anything and 2) we have to get something worthwhile to do it. Big if, for me, IF we are out of it by the deadline, okay- trade all the FAs-to- be:Porcello, MolrelandNunez, Pearce, Holt and JBJ with his one expensive arb year left. I'm not sure packing in 2020 is the best idea, but if do a fire sale and look to reset in 2020, which kind of go hand-in-hand in some ways, then maybe we trade some one like JD or Price, so we can reset and keep Betts at the same time.
  14. I think we should try to trade for a RP'er, now. If it doesn't help over the next 6 weeks, we will know more than if we go 6 weeks without a solid pen addition to then decide.
  15. Sale as closer would be the worst possible move I can think of.
  16. We got guys getting 2-3 hits almosr every game, but they are always spread out, never bunched together, and never when we need them most. I don't blame the line-up, because there's no rhyme or reason to who will hit well, and who won't. Let's compare 2017 OPS to 2019: 2019 Player 2017 (+ or -) .896 Devers .819 (+.077) .890 JD M n/a (Young .709) .888 Bogey .746 (+.142) .875 Betts .803 (+.072) .870 Moreland .769 (+.101) .853 Chavis n/a (Pedey .760) .834 Vaz .735 (+.099) .773 Beni .776 (-.003) .612 JBJ .726 (-.112) .585 Leon .644 (-.059) .493 Nunez .892 (-.399) .404 Holt .548 (-.144) I keep hearing we are regressing to our norm, but if 2017 was "the norm", most key players are doing better than 2017- a year we won the division. It's timely hitting and our pitchers, and not just the pen, that has kept us down. Our starters improved over the first 2-3 weeks, but they are still far away from where they were last year or 2017.
  17. I'm not sure where it will come from, of "it" ever will come. I am still optimistic. While things did come together last year, I don't think it was a fluke. We expected some regression from JD and Betts after their exceptional 2019 seasons, but I felt others, like Vaz, Leon, JBJ and Devers might pick up the slack and then some. For the most part, they have done better, but with Beni and our SP'ers struggling, here we are- a .500 club after 60 games. As bad as we've played, we are still in the race, and we have some budget space to make some additions. Maybe we need a trade to shake things up. Maybe it will just come on its own. Maybe it will never come. I'm staying hopeful, but it's getting harder every day.
  18. Another sad night for the Sox. We keep missing chances- over and over again. When Sandy Leon is the only guy getting key hits, you know something is going on. Nobody is picking it up. I've been waiting and waiting. We got a little tease a couple weeks back, but then this. I'm not giving up by a long shot, but this is disgusting.
  19. True, but he's betting close to a full season under his belt.
  20. You guys crack me up. There's at least 6 weeks to go before we even think about this.
  21. I thought the trade was okay, too. My point was more about us never even trying Buttrey, before we dealt him away.
  22. Can we wait until the end of the season to see, if the "rest plan" pays off? I'm sure Cora, DD & Co. did not expect such a slow (and long) start to the season, and there's no way the extra rest in ST'ing is why we are playing poorly now. If we win it all, my guess is, those who were against the resting philosophy will still claim it was a mistake.
  23. Always have been- always will be. We rested them about 8-12 more innings each than the previous season(s), so it's not like it was a radical change, and it's not like we sent them to Hawaii while the other players worked their butts off.
  24. Maybe hitter complacency when he is starting plays a role. Maybe opposing pitchers get jacked up when they know they are facing Sale. I think Sale will start getting wins. He's been pitching better after his poor start. Hopefully, the odds will catch up, soon.
