  1. Here are the rankings of our players by fangraghs: Catcher (45 with 250+ innings) 2. Vaz (15.3) 9th in DRS +4 20. Leon (4.1) 21st in DRS +2 UZR/150 & DRS 1B (32 with 300+ innings) 22. 2. No, but the people who judge the plays and difficulty of the plays are trained, calibrated, rotated and together watch every play of every game- something none of us come close to doing. I'd rank their "opinions" higher than any of ours.
  3. Simple, just improve the call relay system. Plus, the new enforced pitch clock would begin ticking the second the ball hits the catcher's glove and not after a ball or strike is called, so the delay (if they can't fix it) would not slow the game down.
  4. Why would humans making blunder after blunder ever be good for the game? No, it has nothing to do with analytics but everything to do with veracity.
  5. 2 games are make-ups, but the schedule is a bit lop-sided. Also all those days off around the London series helped scrunch up the rest of the season.
  6. I was thinking we might be able to save $500K on Nunez... maybe. Every penny might help us obtain a higher priced, pro-rated deal on another pitcher.
  7. Since SS is such a major defensive position, being slightly below average is multiplied. Some metrics show him as being horrible. My guess is he is somewhere between #18-24 out of the 30 SSs playing the most. I wouldn't argue with anyone saying he is #14-20 or #22-28.
  8. 2nd half Cy Young numbers.
  9. If we paid all but $500K of Nunez's deal, we could probably trade him for a long shot single A prospect. Pearce will not be back in time for the deadline, so he's got no time to prove any trade stock value.
  10. A lot of the greatest pitchers end up having to reinvent themselves after they can no longer just blow people away with a 98 mph, well located fastball. Price did. I'm hoping it doesn't take Sale long to find the way. Sale just turned 30 a few months back. That is not a normal age to decline steeply to retirement. Coincidentally, Price struggled a little bit at age 30 and then improved- not to age 26-29 levels but better than age 30. Don't get me wrong, I'm very concerned. I'm just trying to stay optimistic- maybe not for this year, but beyond. He's still got a 94-95 mph fastball, so I thin there is still hope.
  11. Next up, trade out-of-options Johnson plus a far-away prospect for a prospect with options. Then, try to dump Nunez and/or Pearce plus cash to free up a tiny bit of money. Maybe find a RP'er for something similar to what we gave up for Cashner. Do it soon, and if we're not in the race in 2 weeks, consider blowing it all up.
  12. I'd send Walden down, but Velazquez could use some work. Off the 40 man? There's 5-6 guys I could care less about... that's how bad our depth is.
  13. I told you guys decent pitchers could be acquired without trading top prospects, and that this is a buyer's market.
  14. He's retiring with Pedey and both will give all their money back.
  15. Not really. My point was always that our starters had sucked more than our pen (until recently), but I always felt they'd get it together going forward.
  16. Nah, he's doing fine since since May 1st. (I couldn't resist.)
  17. What a crappy swing HR. Tell me the ball is not juiced!
  18. He's got a pretty nasty breaking ball, too.
