No you can't, so that's one reason I provided 4 or 5 examples. I'm not saying any would have been preferred by Ben, but my suggested offers are likely close to what it might have taken. (I bet Ben would take the one with Jimenez in it.)

Only because you think a team spending over $200M a year will take 5 years to rebuild. (We're already in year 2 or 3.) BTW, your team took just days to rebuild. Remember?

It's like both teams are in a competition to see who can have the most question marks on their staffs. Despite O'Day's fine numbers the last few years, he only has 42 IP over the last 3 seasons combined. He just turned 38, but at $1.75M, there is little risk.

I'm just hoping Beni can do well in his half of a platoon with Renfroe in LF. I want a reac CF'er added to this team. I'd be fine with a 2Bman and moving EHern to CF, too. He's a good defender in CF.

Probably not, unless we seem some serious bounce back. Toronto has the advantage, as of now, but not by all that much. Renfore should be better on O than JBJ. EHern should be better on O than what we had at 2B, last year. Dalbec for a full season should help, but we had a .942 OPS at 1B, last year. None of these compare to the Jays additions on O. We need big bounces from JD, Devers & Beni.

Two of those "stinker seasons" saw an ERA under 5 and a WHIP under 1.39. While that is not all that good for $21M, it's about what most team's 3rd or 4th starters offer, but without 200+ IP. Badenhop was not on the top of the resume, but he was a nice find at that cost. No, Ben was not great at pitcher additions, but not all were stinkers. He did worse with HRam & Pablito.

I disagree. PIT is looking to dump salary. They'd trade Polanco in a heartbeat, if anybody wanted him. They are also looking to trade Feazier. No, Taillon was not the most expensive, but even at $2.5M, he was the 4th highest salary and the easiest to trade for something of value. If he was making $1M and had 3+ years of control, he's still a Pirate.

So, leaving players returning from injury or down seasons out of the discussion, which AL teams improved over this off season, so far? Toronto & Boston is my answer.

He also "dumped" Beckett just in time. Some liked/loved the Peavy & Dempster deals. Badenhop was a nice cheap get. Porcello worked out well. ERod was a steal.

For PIT, even $2.5M is too much salary. IMO, Ben got hosed, but I've been wrong often.

If we got one guy, like Odorizzi, I think CF is the clear 2nd priority (or 2B, if we put EHern in CF). If we sign Porcello, I might think another SP is more important than CF. I do not think 1B is a top 5 need, but talk of Moreland returning seems real.

I think the return was worse than 4 Michael Chavises. I stand ready to apologize, if one of these 4 amounts to anything more than squat.
