  1. We can all breathe easier, now.
  2. There's not much to talk about until some Sox signings start. Talking about past GMs and managers is a longstanding practice by many fans- probably more so with Sox fans. Sure, there's some bashing or "derogatory comments" that keep coming up. This most recent conversation included calling DD basher's comments "juvenile." I agree there have been more negative comments about DD recently, but IMO, I'd say there were way more Ben bashings going on within a year or two of his departure than with DD, but that's just my opinion and perception- not that it really matters. I may disagree on the idea that discussions about past GMs only serves one purpose, but it's a good thing we don't all see things the same way.
  3. Me, too, and to be honest, he came out of nowhere, in terms of my radar. I never expected him to show what he has shown, so far. It's a small sample size, and he still has a lot to prove, but I'm super excited, too! I'm thinking "special one," as well.
  4. The closest anyone is to "hating" DD is/was Kimmi and notin, but I've never viewed their opinions on him as being hateful. Kimmi has very little good to say about him and has been highly critical- not just in hindsight. notin has praised some of what he did while being highly critical of more of what he did and the state he left us in. Maybe I'm missing someone else, but if these two are the leaders of any "hate crowd," I'm failing to see it. To me, the Ben critics were more plentiful and vociferous. (I'll never call them Ben haters.)
  5. Is this a possible scenario? We cut Pedey loose, and he's off the 40 man roster, then during the 2021 season, when someone goes on the 60 day IL, we reinstate Pedey for a one game ceremony where he gets one final AB. After the game, he returns to retirement. I don't think this issue is all that concerning. 1. We have no roster crunch- 26 man or 40 man, as of now. (Once we start signing our 6th or 7th FA, then maybe...) 2. I think they've already discussed the fact that Pedey will retire, only the details remain uncertain. 3. If no agreement can be made, we simply DFA Pedey and have a Pedey Day next season.
  6. No, of course not, but I'm not banking on us being a David Price away from a 2021 ring.
  7. I like the idea of sweetening the return from the Braves by taking Inciarte. I think we can get Wright, Wilson and Inciarte for Dalbec and some smaller piece. I'm not sure they like Dalbec or what "small piece" they might want.
  8. Even if he does well, if he wouldn't have made a difference here with the Sox, and we spend those savings wisely to the point where we see a plus beyond 2021, it might still be a plus for us.
  9. What's Wong with you?
  10. What's goin' Downs?
  11. Or, Que Casas? Su Casas es mi Casas.
  12. Yes, and Verdugo does not need to end up nearly as good as Betts. We traded 40% of a season from Betts for over 4 years of Verdugo. Downs and Wong can add gravy to the deal. Saving $16M a year on Price was also a plus, although some here feel otherwise.
  13. I dislike a few things he did, but overall, I'm glad we had him as our GM, and the great 2018 season outweighs the cliff we are in, now.
  14. How about ... Dalbec & Chatham (or Song) for Wilson, Wright, Langeliers and Inciarte?
  15. The "hate" Dombrowski cowd?
  16. That's what this site is designed for- discussion about anything to do with the Sox, and GM debates often go on forever. I'm fine with people giving their 2 cents, and yes, some in nonsense directed towards both Ben and DD. That's my 2 cents.
  17. I don't disagree, but we likely will not be in the WS, this year, so how much is Morton worth in 2022? It's too much of an unknown, even on a 2 year deal.
  18. Very true. Not having to pay Price made a very bad situation slightly better- for both clubs.
  19. The trade looks pretty good for both sides, now. We only lost 1/3 of a season of Betts and got Verdugo and a couple good prospects. The Dodgers won a ring and didn't even have to pay Price anything, this year. (neither did we.)
  20. As much as I like Morton, he doesn't seem like someone to sign for "the long term."
  21. Exactly. The Sox are not looking for one year players.
  22. I don't think we plan to move Devers to 1B just yet, either. I used to think it was an interesting and maybe worthy idea, but I've seen some extended time frames of plus play by Devers at 3B and very quick reflexes. I'm not for acquiring Bryant or any other 3Bman. Getting Bryant to play LF makes little sense, too.,
  23. I agree on every point made here despite it all being just speculation.
  24. The BTV site approved this trade: Dalbec & CHatham to ATL for Inciarte +$2M Langeliers (good catching prospect) Wright Wilson
  25. Agreed, and a reasonable extension would have to be part of any deal. Weird no talk of moving Devers to 1B to make room for Bryant at 3B.
