  1. I guess there is still Strange-Gordon.
  2. ...and did I miss the Schoop signing? Even though I've been pulling for us signing him, even I would not be upset, if he signed for $4.5M elsewhere.
  3. Not trying to bust your balls, here, but honestly, I don't understand a single point you just made.
  4. If we hadn't traded Lynn and his subsequent injury ridden decline or the Fisk fiasco, they'd likely be part of the list. I'd add Pedro.
  5. The pleasure will be even better. (BTW, you don't need to be great to make the playoffs, especially if they expand them.)
  6. You are going to make it so much funner when we make the playoffs.
  7. $65M/4 with a chance to make $80M/4.
  8. The opt outs may make it an even shorter deal.
  9. I remember saying the same thing about Dan Duquette coming from Montreal- back in the day.
  10. The pattern of additions we've made, other than maybe the Ottavino trade, seem to indicate we are trying to stay under the tax line- so no Bauer, no Ozuna, no Rosenthal, no JBJ and probably no Schoop.
  11. The Dodgers don't seem to have many limits to spending. They have become the Yankees from the 90's and early 2000's.
  12. Long time vets that would DH would likely be paid more than young 26th men on NL rosters.
  13. Yes, but my guess is they get paid more than most NL team's 26th men. Most will be established vets making more money. It will extend careers of several players, and most unions push to strengthen the position of their most senior members.
  14. The 3 year length is something that really lowers the risk factors.
  15. MLBTR Bauer and the Dodgers agreed to a three-year deal with opt-out provisions after year one and year two of the contract, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand adds that Bauer is guaranteed a total of $102MM on the deal, which includes a $40MM salary in 2021 and a $45MM salary in 2022. Both marks establish new records for the highest single-season salary, though the contract’s overall $34MM average annual value is still a bit shy of Gerrit Cole’s record $36MM.
  16. Now ERod, Richards, Eovaldi, Perez, Pivetta (Sale) Barnes, Ottavino, Brasier, DHern, Taylor, Brice, Andriese/Houck, Whitlock Vazquez, Plawecki Dalbec, Chavis Hernandez, Arroyo Devers Bogaerts Beni, Puello/Gettys/Duran Verdugo Renfroe Martinez Possible After Winter ERod, Richards, Eovadi, Perez, FA (Sale) FA, Barnes, Ottavino, Brasier, DHern, FA, Whitlock, Houck/Taylor/Andriese/Brice Vaz, Plawecki Dalbec FA, Arroyo Devers Bogaerts Beni, Renfroe EHern, FA Verdugo Martinez Possible Free Agents: SP: Oddorizi, Paxton, Walker, Porcello, Cahill RP: Rosenthal, Greene, Melancon, Giles, Petit, Clippard 2B: Schoop, B Miller, Villar, Strange-Gordon, Lowrie, Panik OF: Ozuna, JBJ, Pillar, Puig, Reddick, Goodwin, Markakis, J jay, Marisnick, Gardner, Dyson, Almora, Maybin, Hamilton 1B: Moreland, Cron, M Gonzalez
  17. Dodgers sign Bauer!
  18. I may end up being totally wrong, but I get the feeling Chavis is going to be given a somewhat long look, at some point, to prove he belongs or not. He may also start the season in AAA, and who we add or not will factor into this, but I think he gets a chance in 2021.
  19. Agreed, and since the players are getting paid for 162 while playing 154, what's the issue with a few teams playing an extra round or playoffs? Adding the DH should be something they want, too. It keeps older (higher paid) players in the league longer. Yes, it seems to me, they missed a chance to get somethings they want anyway.
  20. An insulting or shocking message.
  21. I get that. Maybe the Sox felt the $420 counter was an insult.
  22. Or both or a little bit enough of both to make this choice.
  23. Yes, I get that, but having games in front of 6,000 fans instead of 20,000 to 40,000 is a big difference. You have to see why the owners would rather play 25 of their games in October rather than April. I can also see why the players don't want to change anything.
  24. If it was $300/10 and $420/12, then maybe the Sox come back with or $350/12. Had we comeback with $330/10 or 365/12, it would have been more than he ended up getting.
  25. If we decided to go over and compete, it would, but it seems obvious that is not this winter's plan. Signing Odorizzi & Ozuna would be a whole new plan.
