  1. Updated standings after about a tenth of the season... 10-6 BOS 10-6 SEA 9-5 KCR 8-5 LAA 9-7 OAK 8-7 CLE 8-8 TBR & CWS 7-8 HOU 7-9 TEX, TOR & BAL 6-8 MN 6-10 DET 5-10 NYY Almost as nice as us being tied for the best AL record is the fact that the Yanks have 14 teams ahead of them in the AL.
  2. The day could have been worse.
  3. Crappy day, but we'll turn it around. We'll have good and bad stretches, but this team is scrappy.
  4. Even with the right guys up.
  5. JD putting Chicago "on the rocks."
  6. Quick hook. Let's hope White Sox fans later question this choice.
  7. Yes, and the bats to come back to life (with men on base.)
  8. But, with "a strong and deep bench", you'd think someone could have taken up the slack, instead of relying on Bruce & Odor.
  9. Who knows, but I'll try one: maybe he felt the way the ump was calling balls and strikes, he'd call that one a ball.
  10. Wish we had that extra bench player, now- Chavis- to PH.
  11. In defense of first pitch swinging, the team had a .979 OPS swing at the first pitch before today.
  12. Devers may have been our best shot.
  13. Come on Bogey. Get on base for Devers.
  14. This may be our best chance- line-up wise. One more inning after this.
  15. With 9 RP'ers on the roster, why is Taylor even pitching in a close game?
  16. Running out of time in this 7 inning game.
  17. The argument was about having an extra pitcher or bench player. One major point for carrying a bench player was that if a pitcher was ever needed, you could have one there in 2 hours. That's not the case, if we were in Seattle, but I added that if we were on a long west coast stretch, which we were not, we could have brought along an extra pitcher (not on the 26 man roster) in case we needed to add one after having a 19 inning game the night before. Setting the opening day roster does not preclude additions and subtractions just a few days into the season, if needed. The other point was about us having to play 4 games in a 48 hour period, and that is precisely an example that adding a pitcher before that stretch would make sense and is entirely possible and easy to do. (BTW, I was not "griping." I was defending the position that we never needed that extra pitcher, and if we did, we'd know enough beforehand to add one- or two in the case of the doubleheader.) The fact that you can add a player to the 26 man roster for a double header also eases that strain on the pen during that 48 hour stretch- not to mention the fact that we had a day off to rest the entire pen before that 48 hour stretch.
  18. Now, that was a brutal attack! (Just kidding.)
  19. Not really. You get to add a player for a double header, and you can call up even one more pitcher when you this situation arising. (Plus, having several days off over the first 11 days of the season.) That was the point taken by those against starting the season with that "extra" pitcher.
