  1. I am, and 39 games is nearly 1/4 of the season, but I've always been one to think sample sizes need to be bigger than 39 games to have a true read on exactly how good or bad anyone is.
  2. Dalbec is finally to .600. Renfroe to .650. Bogey is over 1.000 Richards got his ERA under 4 (3.89).
  3. I love what I'm seeing, too, but 6 weeks is a small sample size.
  4. Before tonight: Runs Scored 191 BOS 190 HOU 187 LAD (no DH) 186 CWS 180 AZ (no DH) 178 CIN (no DH) 23. NYY 143 OPS .759 HOU (119 wRC+) .754 LAD (113) .754 BOS (109) .753 CIN (105) .752 CWS (117) 15. NYY .697 (101) ERA- 74 SDP 75 NYY 77 NYM 80 CLE 81 CWS 88 SFG 89 LAD, MIL 90 TOR 81 MIA 90 MIA 93 BOS 95 TBR (Boston is 17th in runs allowed at 162.)
  5. This series only added to the A's flukiness.
  6. Speaking of ex-Sox players in the mix. Hunter Strickland has walked the bases loaded v NYY. Still 9-0 in the 9th.
  7. Nice to see Whitlock go 3 and give the pen a night off. 52 pitches is a kinda lot for 3, but that's one way to "stretch him out." Richards is sealing the deal. Let's hope the bats stay hot. Dalbec, Renfroe and Chavis looked good. Even Arauz got 2 BBs.
  8. That's for sure, and he wasn't swinging for launch angles every time up.
  9. Yanks down 9-0. Looks like we will outscore the A's and lose the series, and the Ray will outscore the Yanks and lose that series.
  10. Boy, those DPs sure lessen the LOB number.
  11. In the only 2 full seasons of Richards' career (2014-2015), he led the league in wild pitches (39 total), both years. He also had 12 HBP. Later, in one of his partial seasons, he led the league again with 15 WPs while starting only 16 games (2018)! BTW, from 2014-2017: 29-21 (70 GS) 3.06 (1.148 WHIP) His 80 ERA- placed him 20th among starters with 400+ IP in those 4 years.
  12. Too many ex-Sox players in the mix, tonight.
  13. Yanks get 1st & 3rd with 1 out in the 6th off Rich Hill. Ford hits into a DP.
  14. That's the danger of throwing to miss by an inch. If you are off by 2-3 inches, it can be deadly. Still, when a batter leans in like that, he has to expect a pitch that may not be in the strike zone.
  15. I think he was aiming to miss.
  16. It's part of what made Pedro great. (Keep 'em honest.)
  17. Our old friend, Rich Hill, just struck out the side. 1 hitting the Yanks through 5.
  18. Yankee hits the last 5 games (4-1): 5 6 5 7 6 (1 hit, tonight, through 5)
  19. He's never really been bad- just injured. (We got 'em on an option for 2022, too!)
  20. Remember the years when it was common to watch us outscore our opponents in a series only to lose 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 4?
  21. Good pitching always beats good hitting.
  22. Yanks down 2-0, early.
  23. If we score 4, we'll ruin the 3 x 9 plan!
  24. Booby Dee with a second SHOT!
