  1. 33 in the minors. Schwarber is on the IL. Could he rehab at 1B?
  2. 0 innings at 1B.
  3. That's likely. I don't see us trading an OF'er to make room. (Duran for Berrios? Trade Verdugo?) It seems we needed SP'ing and 1B most of all. This deal is a good one, but a bit puzzling.
  4. If Bloom can trade Richards and Perez to create some more budget space as well as roster space, we could do some more dealing. We may go over the tax line, and not need to but I think it might be smart anyways. We could even add a prospect that will not make our 40 man roster next year to either improve teh return or lessen the amount we have to pay on their contracts. Here are some bubble players and prospects that may not be part of the 2022 roster plan or beyond, besides Richards, Perez -both with options, Workman, Santana and Andriese (arb): Rios Chavis Wilson Arauz Potts Rosario Cordero Ward(rule 5?) (We could also trade Dalbec, if we get a 1Bman.)
  5. We need starters, as in multiple.
  6. Schwarber is owed: 21:$7M (about $3.3MM pro-rated, assuming no money changed hands.) 22:$11.5M mutual option ($3M buyout) This deal puts us close to the tax line but not over it.
  7. Aldo Ramirez is a pretty good prospect, but is 20 and pretty far away. He was ranked 8th on soxprospects.com, just behind Bello and ahead of Yorke, Groome & Mata. What kinda sucks about it is that Ramirez is not a Rule 5 guy, this winter, so we don't really make room for anybody else, next year, but more deals are likely. Stay tuned.
  8. Since 2019, Schwarber has averaged this per 650 PAs: .238 42 96 60 XBHs .333 OBP .515 SLG .848 OPS 176 Ks (27% K rate) If we trade for Santana and a pitcher like Boyd or Gray, will that be enough to quiet the restless?
  9. Nice call! Wonder what we gave up.
  10. MLBTR just reported Schwarber to Red Sox! (He does not play 1B.)
  11. Shwaber had one of the hottest streaks known to mankind before going on the IL.
  12. It can be more than minor and still not upset the future. We have some decent players that cannot fit on next year's roster assume we sign 4-5 free agents and protect 5-6 Rule 5 prospects. If we are going to lose some goodplayers, anyway, it's not trading away the future by trading some of them, now.
  13. They looked better on paper before the trades. I think we can get close enough to compete with them, with 2 good trades, but I don't want Bloom giving too much. Bloom made this season fun. I'm not asking him to blow up the future for a long shot arrow.
  14. That and what can and will he do with a fat wallet. 2022 we become top contenders. 2023 we are in the cream, of the cream.
  15. After these Yankee trades and the Sox draft, our farm may have passed yours, today.
  16. There is still a lot of talent left out there. I doubt we go as high as Berrios, but we can get something useful, and hopeful more than just a rental.
  17. In short, this was not the time to go all in.
  18. They will likely extend Scherzer to longer than Turner. It was about both and going for 3 rings in row. Then reset and make room for the Sox in 2023.
  19. Why repeat what made us like 2020? Some memories are very short.
  20. I've said all along, something like Gray and Santana or Boyd and Schoop. (a rental and a 1 more year guy) That makes us better than NYY, TOR, TBR and about even with HOU & CWS while retaining our future goals intact. Disagree, if you want, but my position is logical and valid.
  21. I'd be fine trading or DFA'ing Richards, but I do think he's better than Workman & Andriese.
  22. You obviously don't know my position. The deadline is tomorrow. We were never going to trade enough to becoem faves over the Dodgers and Padres. Never. We will make a move(s) to improve without hurting the future. We will go for broke in a year or two, and look to surprise this October. Sit back and enjoy the rest season we are having. Why bust a nut over nothing? Did you really want us to outbid the Dodgers and piss away our future? We just drafted a whizz and lose a bunch of salary, this winter.
  23. Potts wont even be on our 40 man, next year.
