  1. Schwarber was significant. Our farm was hardly touched. I feel much better about 2022, and still love our chances of winning the division or at worst, winning a WC slot. The Dodgers, Yanks and others overpaid. It’s pretty certain we’d have had to do the same or more to land any of the top players. Let’s save the overpays for this winter’s free agents.
  2. Maybe just give him 3 days off and then use him less for a week or two.
  3. No way is it over. This team is magical and responds best when their backs are to the wall.
  4. I’d have had Sale throw 81 pitches for the Sox not the Sea Dogs. It’s silly to wait until he can pitch 90-100 pitches before calling him up. I’d have had Houck start for us not the Sea Dogs. I’d slowly ease up Whitlock’s IP. Not sure there is much else that hasn’t been tried.
  5. Pitch him the same amount of innings he’d have pitched with Portland. Those 50 pitches or so will likely be better than Richards or Perez.
  6. Anybody see how the playoff and WS odds changed after the deadline?
  7. On the road back to Texas. 5 weeks in Maine was glorious. My dad turned 94! Sox- Gotta turn thing around.
  8. Three year window of going for broke, the I think they may step back.
  9. That's why they can trade Snell and Hill and not miss a beat. So, what is the solution some here suggest? Trade away those type of players for a rental.
  10. I think we have enough chips, but we'd have had to give nearly all of them to match what some teams did.
  11. Our rotation is in near total shambles. Only Eovaldi and maybe ERod ate not. It's a mess. Sale & Houck offer a little hope, but they are being held back in the minors for another lost start.
  12. Not to mention Perez, Pivetta and maybe ERod.
  13. Yes, and it's no sure thing we get past the CWS and Astros with Scherzer. We'd need a lot of other things to go right- like Sale being Sale, Schwarber getting healthy and being able to play 1B and Pivetta improving.
  14. Not if you can yank them early enough. It would have been nice to have Houck and Whitlock for long relief.
  15. 1.3 years. No way is right. 0.3 years for Scherzer. No way. I don't get what the beef is all about. No Jon Gray?
  16. Certainly not. It goes back 9-10 starts with 2-3 of our starters.
  17. I'd bring Sale up, now, too.
  18. What are you basing this opinion on? A 60 PA against sample size, where opponents hit .735 off him? That's not all that bad, and he does much better the third time through, so what about that? .377 first time (63 PAs) .735 second time (60 PAs) .452 third time (14 PAs) If you add the second time to the third time, he's under .700. Let's see him start a few more times, before we rush to judgments. Plus, we need Whitlock in Richards and Perez starts more.
  19. Good thing no posters, here, react to just one day sample sizes.
  20. Nice, and I'll add, "if Sale isn't Sale." adding Scherzer wasn't going to win us a ring anyway.
  21. Hickey signs for $1M. That’s the highest payment to anyone rounds 4-10. The slot was $410K. Does this mean no chance for Fabian?
  22. I’ll settle for 1B without pulling a hammy.
  23. Both SFG and SDP and LAD were better before the trades.
  24. The cost was too high.
