  1. Looks like a good deal for the M's. Did any cash go to a team? I hear a significant PTBNL is involved.
  2. I seriously doubt he does, but there are a few scenarios... 1) Move Wacha or Hill to the pen. 2) Assume someone will be on the IL 3) Trade Pivetta while his stock is high---a la Renfroe Again, I don't see it happening, but I'm always thinking about upgrading the rotation.
  3. BTV accepted this trade: would you? Casas and Bello for Soderstrom, Manaea & Trivino I'm not sure, if it would accept Casas for Langeliers, Manaea & Trivino
  4. Until game 2, when Arroyo goes to the IL.
  5. Lightening does strike twice, sometimes.
  6. Their biggest return, by far, was a catcher- a position they are already deeper than anywhere else. Could the Sox trade Casas (and another player) for a young catcher of the future and Manea? (Maybe get Trivino thrown in?)
  7. I'm far from panic. Why claim people are in panic? I feel about the same this year as last, and it worked out pretty well. My point is that to me, the rotation is our weakest area. Weakest NOT weak.
  8. Would the Beni trade beat the Marwin DFA out?
  9. Yes, how quickly I forgot. That's got to be the one.
  10. I'm think the odds favor neither, with just one a distant second. Both, a near impossibility.
  11. What has been the most exciting, at the time of the deal? Kike? Richards? Extending Barnes? Yikes!
  12. Eovaldi has been remarkably healthy since joining the rotation mid Aug 2019 after being on the IL for much of that season and coming back in the pen for a while, first.
  13. Terrible? AAA 54 IP 4.00 ERA 1.14 WHIP .667 OPS Against Did you mean he sucked in the Fall League?
  14. Talks must still be ongoing with someone(s).
  15. Sounds like last year's 1/2 season from Perez or Richards and 1/2 from Sale.
  16. True, but ERod had zero in 2020. But, still... 2019-2021 IP totals: 256 Hill (119 ERA+) 361 ERod (114)
  17. I figured he'd be one of the first to sign. I know he has a time limit expiring, soon.
  18. I doubt we are done adding to our 40 man roster, but is the the bottom 10 on the current 40 man better than last year's pre-opening day 40 man roster (before players can be placed on the 60-day IL). 2022: 40. Potts 39. Rosario 38. Bazardo 37. A Davis (out of options) 36. Arauz 35. Valdez 34. Crawford 33. Downs 32. Sawamura 31. Plawecki/Wong/R Hernandez 2021 We had Cordero, Brice, Andriese and Marwin on the 26 man roster to open 2021. I'm not sure of who we had on the 40 man, last March. With all the taxi squad crap, it was hard to keep track.
  19. Have the terms been announced and the deal finalized with Diekman, yet? cots has us at about $20M left to spend to stay under the tax line. Adding Strahm & Diekman put us at 41 players on the 40 man. My guess is Hudson Potts gets DFA'd. (He likely will not be claimed.)
  20. They will likely leave wiggle room, like they did for last season's deadline.
  21. Nobody is giving prospects for JBJ and that deal. Yes, we'd have to take on a contract, like maybe Moustakas, or include prospects like the Brewers did. JBJ ain't going anywhere. JD and Bogey might be the ones we look to trade and make budget room for a signing or two. I'm not sure Vaz has much trade value, and we don't have a FT ML-ready catcher to take his place. We won't sell Barnes on a low note. Trading Eovaldi would be giving in for '22. This deadline could get real interesting, depending on our placement in the standings and playoff hunt. Having 12 teams making the playoffs might keep the hope alive for a few teams normally looking to dump at the deadline. Who knows, maybe we will be buyers, again.
  22. I realize this. Hope is not the same as thinking it will happen. I do think there are some moderate deals that are not far-fetched, like signing Suzuki or McHugh or trading for a tanking team's salary issues, but I will not be surprised if we stick to the Wacha & Hill type deals for a while longer. I'm still asking the question: what major signing has happened, this winter, that anybody wishes we paid that amount or more for that player's services? I'm not seeing anything that looks like even being close to a no-brainer choice. Maybe I need to adjust my FA value calculations. Maybe Bloom does. I'm not pretending to be a wizard. I thought Price met the qualifications for a once in a long while all-in type of signing. I'm content with knowing that Bloom knows more than I do, but that won't stop me from scratching my head till it bleeds, sometimes. LOL!
  23. Brad Hand to Phillies for $6M/1.
  24. I'd be thrilled with Suzuki & McHugh. Would those two put us over the tax line? (If yes, what salary can we dump, if we wish to remain tax-free?)
  25. You often joke about fitting right in with the time on the IL aspect of the Yankee roster, but I'm sure you know it is no laughing matter. It's not bad luck you have had all these injuries. It's a choice your GM makes over and over. Maybe, some year, you will see it all come together in some sort of healthy bonanza, but until I see it happen, I'm expecting more of the same.
