  1. No closer has emerged, in part because we have not needed one, lately. I still think Houck should get the role. Maybe they wait until Sale or Paxton return. Maybe, sooner, when Wacha returns. Maybe they make Whitlock the long man again or piggy backer, and move Houch to closer. Maybe they make Whitlock the closer.
  2. To think he got cut by the Astros! OPS+ since 2014 154 139 142 168 165 170 173 139 79 (COVID Year) 126 172 Amazing consistency: besides 2020, he's been between 126 and 173 for 10 years!
  3. I'm not worried about Hill's performance- only his health. That was his first bad start in over 40 starts.
  4. I'd offer than, as of right now.
  5. I would not be surprised to see JD replaced with Dalbec, assuming Dalbec heats up again, this summer. (Note: I'm not saying I like the idea.) FA at C Casas at 1B FA at 2B or Downs/Arroyo/Hamilton/Arauz Story at SS Devers at 3B Verdugo in LF FA in CF FA in RF FA or Dalbec/Cordero/Koss at DH
  6. DHern to have knee surgery. Now, we know why his control has been off.
  7. Indeed. The problem might be that bringing him back at any cost will likely be a step down, as he is likely to decline. "Declining" to .875 is still a huge plus, though- even .825-.875.
  8. I'm not sure he makes more than $18M a year, unless it's a one year deal. He might make $38M/2 with and counting options.
  9. I remember pressing him for evidence, and I believe he said he claimed he could see it on TV.
  10. Houck's ERA went from 5.40 to 4.70. Hill's from 2.89 to 3.90.
  11. Remind me what poster said he noticed JD's bat slowing and proclaimed him over the hill?
  12. We finally have a better in the 700's.
  13. It just took some warm weather to heat things up for the Sox.
  14. Every picture tells a story. Don't it?
  15. Is this our first game with 4 crooked number innings?
  16. Scorching rbis, this inning!
  17. Walking JBJ with the bases loaded is DFA material. I have no idea who this Young guy is, but that's just plain horrible.
  18. What was the name of the book?
  19. Vaz taking one for the team!
  20. Crawford started for Woo and pitched 4 no hit innings (0 BB/ 2 K). Kelly almost blew the game by allowing 2 runs in the 9th, but got the win!
  21. Yes, of course.
  22. I think too many posters, myself included, may have assumed his Colorado numbers would not translate well into Fenway numbers.
  23. Are we ever going to face a lefty, again? They have Dalbec in the line-up vs this righty... 1. Kike 2. Devers 3. JD 4. Bogey 5. Verdugo 6. Story 7. Dalbec 8. Vazquez 9. JBJ Rich Hill on the mound vs RHP George Kirby. Our bottom of the line-up may be weak, but the M's have some low BAs tonight: 5. Suarez .209 6. Torrens .193 7. Toro .167 8. Moore .161 9. Aouza .200
  24. I'm not sure its about the ball travelling better in warm weather. Our pitching didn't seem to get worse with the heat.
  25. I think Dalbec and Kike seem to be warm weather hitters, despite Bobby Dee's low July numbers in his short ML career. Kike hit .949 in July and .926 in Aug, last year. Was it warm in October? Bobby Dee's best career months are AUG 1.170 and SEPT .947. Vaz is bad every month, but his best 2 are .706 in July and .753 in Sept. (.676 is close in AUG to his 3rd best month.) Story's best 3 months: .901 SEP .900 AUG .869 JUL He literally gets better every month: .794>.818>,845>.860>.900>.901
