  1. Method #2: When exposed, accuse the one who exposed you of over analyzing or "going way too deep." You answered a post about Bloom hiring "wounded old guys" by saying, "He already did" with Paxton and Frail. That only has one meaning. It doesn't take diving deep to understand what it means.
  2. Saying it was sarcasm beats tripling down on absurdities.
  3. So, name one guy. Is it the guy who hated the JBJ trade from day one? The same guy who hated the Diekman signing? The same guy who disliked the Richards, Perez I, Perez II and Marwin signings? The same guy who has been questioning why we are signing only LF/DH types and RP'ers, when our highest need areas are SP, SS and RF? He must be your 100% guy. Maybe your math is like your English, and 100% is really 50%.
  4. Devers is due to make about $16M in his final arb. Of course we can sign him for "less" by giving him "more" than $16M in 2023.
  5. Who believes everything Bloom has doone has been good? Name just one. Oh, I know: his name is Mr. Strawman. Does anyone here even think 75% of Blooms significant moves have been good? (Not me.)
  6. We're the Fun Lovin Criminals!
  7. The Tigers pitching staff had the 5th worst fWAR from 2020-2021, when Schreiber was there. They put him on waivers, and he wasn't even good enough for anyone to trade for him during his waiver period.
  8. 97.2 losses Worst winning % in the last 90 years: .279 1932 .383 1965 .400 2020 (almost made WS afterwards) .422 1960 .426 2012 (Won WS afterwards) .438 2014 .444 1966 (Made it to WS afterwards) .447 1943 .448 1954 .451 1992
  9. They said they'd add 7-9 players. I think we're at 5..
  10. Not an answer.
  11. It seems like you need to have a strong farm, first or at the same time to make large and long deals work out. We didn't after 2019. Our farm is better, now, but maybe not quite there yet. I'm not even sure upper management even sees it this way. They may be totally done with large and longs after getting burned with almost all their last ones.
  12. My kinda deal.
  13. That does not negate the fact that we made a decent offer... "a pretty big one."
  14. He said, "No more moves?" Kike should have had a contract release clause.
  15. We didn't have a strong farm, and we probab ly don't have Mayer, if we kept Betts and had a better team in 2020.
  16. All at the same time AND had enough to build a decent roster around them? I'm not defending JH. I wish and think he should spend more, but the reality is, he seems to set a mark and stick to it. I'm not seeing why he'd spend more on top of keeping these guys.
  17. One or the other, and I can see why people choose the Sox.
  18. So we all agree: $400M to Betts $300M to Bogey $350M to Devers Maybe the rest of the roster is filled with Webers, Andrieses, Marwins and Santana's but hey we have our beloved stars to root for as we lose 90 games, every year. Not sure it would have to be that way, but it very well could have been had JH kept the budget like he has the last 4 years.
  19. Are you sure that report is accurate? If it is, the FO is more F'd up than I thought.
  20. I don't disagree, and I want JH to offer what it takes to get Devers. I'm not sure $400M/14 is what it will take, and I'd have severe reservations about a contract like that, but my point was ab out how a major fan revolt would work out. Do you think JH would see a massive revolt in progress and it would force him to sign Devers, when he planned not to? I'm not sure, but I'd think not.
  21. Good point, but sometimes I feel like, "with fans like these, who needs Yankee fans?"
  22. I get that. It doesn't mean they made a mistake, if their intention was never to offer what the knew B orA$SS demanded. It means they did not value him like others did. It means that will be proven to be a mistake or not, later.
  23. To me, the way they made this mistake was worse than the Lester, Betts and Bogey instances which span over 2 GMs. I think they sent Fisk his contract a day late, and he became a FA. The Lynn trade, at least brought us some talent back, as did the Burleson & Hobson deal for Lansford, Clear and Miller, but fan anger was intense, back then.
