  1. Only Storyland and the Butterfly Man know...
  2. If Yoshida gives us 3.4, I'd be very happy. The ones I think are too high, the most are... 2.2 Mondesi- he has the talent, but he needs to stay healthy (sound familiar?) 1.5 Story (308 PAs seems very high) 1.5 Paxton (139 IP- LOL!) I might take the over on... 1.8 Turner 0.4 Houck
  3. I get the feeling our issue will be more about us being comfortable with 4 SP'ers more than which of the 6. Someone will be on the IL openi9ng day and solve the issue. If at any point during the season, all 6 are healthy at the same time, I'd rather they go with a 6 man rotation vs piggybacking. My choice would be to give the guy who need a rest or his innings "managed," some time in the pen, until the next guys goes on the IL (or needs his innings "managed.")
  4. I hope Sale is wrapped in bubble wrap all spring.
  5. It's my opinion that creating nicknames like "Stinkin' Winkin" after just a few IP goes beyond critiquing, but maybe you have a differing opinion. I also think the negativity is severely over obsessive. Again, just my opinion, and I thought that's what this site is for- opinion giving. He is not nearly as extreme as Swihart in his criticisms, but to me, he goes beyond what is acceptable. To you, obviously not. Again, you guys act like you want all this to end, but you all keep stirring the pot, which is fine- just don't accuse only me of keeping it going and lastwordisms. It's also one thing to misrepresent someone's position, but this guy does it repeatedly, and not just with me. Often times, he actually frames others' positions in the exact opposite light. When confronted, he doubles down and repeats. When someone knowingly states falsehoods, it's lying. It's not name calling to call it that.
  6. I have mentioned the 5 year drought, with just Houck graduating, but I do not think he emptied the farm. He did a great job trading away mostly overrated prospects.
  7. I find it interesting, yet possible, fangraphs projects Mondesi and Casas as being tied for 5th in Sox everyday player WAR. Maybe, it more of an indictment on the 7-13 players with an fWAR over 0.5. Projected fWAR (PAs) 4.9 Devers 672 3.4 Yoshida 525 2.8 Kike 560 2.6 Verdugo 595 2.2 Casas 532 & Mondesi 462 1.8 Turner 546 1.5 Story 308 1.4 Duvall 448 1.2 Arroyo 301 1.0 Wong 179 0.5 Refsnyder 147 Pitchers (IP) 2.7 Whitlock 153 2.5 Sale 140 1.7 Kluber 155 1.6 Bello 113 1.5 Paxton 139 1.4 Pivetta 171 0.7 Schreiber 68 0.7 Martin 62 0.6 Jansen 63 0.6 Rodríguez 63 0.4 Houck 80.0 0.2 Brasier 60 0.2 Crawford 51 0.1 Bleier 56 0.1 Walter 21 0.1 Mata 16 0.0 Mills 46, Kelly 26, Ort 42, Altavilla 40, Sherriff 24, Winck 20

  9. Yes, you do well at it- same as I.
  10. Again, I have no issues with DD. I never said he devastated the farm. A apologized for saying he "squandered" overrated prospects, but I always have given him kudos for keeping Devers and Houck and adding quality prospects we underrated at the time of his departure. I'm not sure why you are now joining Red in misrepresenting my position. notin and I do not agree on everything. I will say, part of the reason we only had Houck graduate in a 5 year period, was because DD did the right thing by giving us a sweet 3 year window (that should have been 4-5 had JH not bailed.) That 5 year drought did have an effect on the 2019 team and the next 3 years' teams. The farm was not devastated or emptied, but there was a significant lull that had a big impact on a team looking to trim its budget.
  11. It's beyond critiquing. You guys are doing your best to keep this thing going.
  12. I'd love to see Mayer, this year, and yes, not because of injury, but we did see what happened with Bogey. If we are in the hunt, anything goes.
  13. They have Pivetta 6th in SP WAR and 1st in IP. The Sox are ranked14th in pitching and hitting. One interesting projection: 4.5 Bogey 3.5 Red Sox SS mix
  14. The times I get most antagonistic is not when I disagree. It's when someone blatantly misrepresents what I said, and when corrected, keeps repeating it. When someone lies about what you said, it's not always easy to just STFU, but as I have said, I will try again. Let's move on.
  15. IMO, the whole idea that there is a defined "you like Bloom" club is out of whack, while I do believe there is a very defined group of posters who are near total Bloom bashers, even on things not even related to him or just slightly so. Just my opinion.
  16. My critiquing someone else's fandom is based in my feelings of what being a fan means and relates directly to my fandom. True, he called out my behavior and not my beliefs, but this is getting too deep.
  17. I've already recommitted to laying off the personal posts. I tried putting him on ignore, before, and maybe I should try again.
  18. My comment about "not being traded" was from the Bloom perspective. Part of farm building or usage involves trading for and trading away prospects. Bloom's biggest trade aways were Aldo Ramirez and maybe Jay Groome. The Whitlock "get" on Rule 5 may be partially offset by the "give" of TWard. Part of the reason the farm has grown stronger, IMO, is due to very few trades of prospects since DD's last year here. I agree about who gets the credit for IFA signings, but ultimately the scouts are hired or kept in the system by the GM.
  19. I'd think making $1M more would be worth it, and he should make $5m+, maybe more on a one year deal.
  20. Missing ST'ing is a big setback for these guys, though.
  21. They shoulda given him $20K.
  22. Pretty risky, but you know some team in the hunt for a ring with budget space will come knocking, once a starter goes down hurt. (Note: there is still team with their starting SS about to be placed on the 60 and a rehabbing guy named Mondesi as the only real middle IF depth on their 40 man roster.)
  23. Isn't saying "Critiquing someone else's fandom is just weird behavior" critiquing someone else's fandom?
  24. I do think the nature of having so many slots to fill and too little money, lends itself to 1-2 year deals, but the point is a good one. More deals like Kike would have been nicer. Had we kept Perez one more year, as well as Springs and Renfroe, we'd have been much better off. I will say, I'm glad many of the limited-in-skills players Bloom was forced to sign did not stick around for more than a year. He did well getting out from one of his rare 2 year deals by getting McGuire for Diekman. The other, Sawamura, was let go. Within the last 11 months, we've seen (countin club option years): 10 yrs Devers 6 yrs Story 6 yrs Whitlock 5 yrs Yoshida 2 yrs Jansen 2 yrs Kluber 2 yrs Martin 2 yrs Duvall 2 yrs Rodriguez 1 yr w player option Turner Traded for 4+ yrs Mills 3 yrs McGuire 2 yrs Bleier Only one 1-year deal, this winter: Mondesi plus Kike's 1 added to the previous 2. That seems to be a big shift on this front.
  25. Your armchair psychoanalysis is a a bit off, but I will try (again) to keep it less personal.
