  1. Hardly. I was maybe the first to jump ship, last summer. I hear you on commiserating with fellow Sox fans. I came to these sites, when I moved to Mexico and had nobody to talk Sox with.
  2. How many big splash FA SP'er signings have worked out over recent years? 2023: 37 x 5 deGrom 27 x 6 Rodon 43 x 2 Verlander 15 x 5 Senga 18 x 4 Walker 17 x 4 Taillon 21 x 3 Bassitt 13 x 3 Eflin 17 x 2 Nate (10 x 1 Kluber) 2022: 43 x 3 Scherzer 23 x 5 R Ray 22 x 5 Gausman 15 x 5 ERod 24 x 3 Stroman 14 x 4 Jon Gray 25 x 2 Verlander 22 x 2 Rodon 11 x 4 Matz 12 x 3 Kikuchi 6 x 4 N Martinez 13 x 2 Alex Wood 21 x 1 Syndergaard 10 x 2 Cobb 17 x 1 Kershaw 13 x 1 Greinke 8 x 1 Kluber & T Anderson (5 x 2 Paxton, 7 x 1 Wacha and 5 x 1 RHill) 2021: 34 x 3 Bauer 8 x 3 Odorizzi 8 x 3 T Walker 19 x 1 Gausman 19 x 1 Stroman 9 x 2 M Minor 15 x 1 Morton 11 x 1 Kluber 11 x 1 Smyly 10 x 1 Richards (5 x 1 Perez) 2020: 36 x 9 Gerrit Cole 35 x 7 S Strasburg 24 x 5 Z Wheeler 17 x 5 M Bumgarner 20 x 4 H-J Ryu 18 x 3 Keuchel 9 x 3 K Gibson 12 x 2 T Roark 10 x 2 M Pineda 18 x 1 Cole Hamels 2019: 23 x 6 Corbin 17 x 4 Nate 14 x 4 Kikuchi 17 x 2 Happ 15 x 2 Morton 10 x 2 An Sanchez 18 x 1 J-H Ryu 8 x 2 Richards 13 x 1 Keuchel 11 x 1 Harvey 2018: 21 x 6 Darvish 25 x 3 Arrieta 14 x 4 Cobb 13 x 3 M Minor 8 x 2 J Vargas & A Cashner 2017: 16 x 3 RHill 9 x 3 I Nova 11 x 2 Volquez 2016: 31 x 7 Price 34 x 6 Greinke 22 x 6 Cueto 22 x 5 Zimmerman 18 x 5 Samardzija 16 x 5 Chen & Leake 15 x 5 I Kennedy 16 x 4 Kazmir 2015: 30 x 7 Scherzer 26 x 6 Lester 19 x 4 Shields 14 x 4 Santana 12 x 4 McCarthy 13 x 3 Liriano
  3. One game from .500. No Story. No Whitlock. No Bello. No Joely, Paxton and Mondesi. We all wish the start of the season would yield better than a 3 and 4 record, but there is a 155 games to go.
  4. Some seem to feel it is all but certain.
  5. Thanks to Winck. ERA and WHIP 1.93 Kelly 4.2 IP (1.71) 6.00 Bleier 3.0 IP (1.67) 6.75 Brasier 4.0 IP (1.40) 7.20 Ort 5.0 IP (1.40)
  6. Ort has options, too, so either could be demoted without being DFA'd, right?
  7. Top Pen Arms on the Sox 0.00 Martin 4 IP (1.25 WHIP) 0.00 Jansen 2 IP (1.00 WHIP) 1.50 Winckowski 6 IP (0.83 WHIP) 2.25 Schreiber 4.0 IP (2.00 WHIP) Top and Bottom Starters 1.80 Pivetta 5.0 IP (1.20) 5.40 Houck 5.0 IP (1.20) 6.48 Kluber 8.1 IP (1.68) 11.25 Sale 8.0 IP (2.00) 15.75 Crawford 4 IP (2.50) Bottom Pen 1.93 Kelly 4.2 IP (1.71) 6.00 Bleier 3.0 IP (1.67) 6.75 Brasier 4.0 IP (1.40) 7.20 Ort 5.0 IP (1.40)
  8. MLB OPS Leaders 1.621 Brian Anderson 1.578 Adam Duvall 1.478 Will Smith 6. Bogey 1.395 8. G Torres 1.349 10. Moncada 1.302 27. Mateo 1.109 44. Betts .990 50. Devers .957 72. Laureano .883 75. Verdugo .875 91. J Abreu .785 97. Turner .758 103. Yoshida .737 110. JD M .715 114. Hosmer .706 129. Kike .649 144. Beni .586 155. Schwarber .539 161. Correa .519 165. Casas .496 173. Arroyo .449 176. Renfroe .426 183. Andrus .382 185. Bregman .380 190. (last) Javier Baez .228
  9. Kelly has been an adventure, too. He may be the first guy sent down- not Ort.
  10. I will say, Martin faced better hitters than Bra-Man, so maybe that was the idea.
  11. Max, you are a true fanatic, but fans can also be obsessed without thinking their team is only as good as they are playing that day or week. I enjoy your posts, and don't want you to change a thing about you, but you do get me shaking my head, from time to time. 👌
  12. Story's return is a long way away. Surely, if Kike is still under .150 or even .200, and Duvall, Turner, Casas, Yoshida and Dugo are hitting well, he won't be playing CF FT. That is 5 guys who all have to be doing okay and be healthy. Kike could also move to 2B, if he looks better than Arroyo, when the choice is being made. No answer to my question is fine. I think we know where you stand.
  13. MLB RBI Leaders: 12 Duvall 10 Y Alvarez 10 B Anderson 10 Will Smith 8 six tied
  14. Not only do they pitch Brasier more than we like, they seem to have him in more important situations than Martin & Schreiber. (I get your points about Schreiber & Bleier now being sketchy, but Martin?)
  15. You crack me up. I do wonder about us acquiring pitchers. Part of me thinks, why waste picks on pitchers, when they can't evaluate or develop them well, anyway. A bigger part of me thinks, get your s*** together and get the right people into the organization- like YESTERDAY!
  16. I meant to type AAA for Rafaela. I found it interesting that some think Mayer may reach the bigs by September, and they have him starting 2024 in AA.
  17. He should be in CF, but who would get moved or benched? Not Duval, except maybe to LF or DH. Not Yoshida, too expensive (maybe to DH?) Not Verdugo, he's a Cora fave and playing well. I doubt it's Turner (Yoshida to DH/Duvall to LF) or Casas (Turner to 1B/Yoshida to DH/Duvall to LF) One Q... Has he gone from "utility" to "back-up" in your eyes, or are you just talking SS?
  18. There is a possibility the defense improves with the return of Story & Mondesi, and Kike moving back to CF. We'd go from one of the worst SS-2B-CF triangles to one of the best. We look good at 1B and maybe catcher. Corner OF and 3B would still be suspect, but we can get better on D. Mayber I'm too gah-gah on Whitlock & Bello, but I think they will have a major impact on our staff, soon.
  19. ...and maybe the last 7 of this game.
  20. Are we going to lead the league in GIDP, this year?
  21. ...and K's the side!
  22. Those two might be or end up being in our top 4-6 pitchers, this year (SP + RP). They could really change the make-up of our staff.
  23. soxprospects now lists the projected 2024 rosters: https://www.soxprospects.com/2024.htm They have Mayer in AA. Rafaela in AAA. Mata in MLB.
  24. That Beni trade is still sort of "pending" as Winckowski is starting to show signs of life. Cordero is gone and gave us close to nothing, if not minus value. Luis de la Rosa- Salem w so-so results in very few innings pitched- faint hopes Grant Gambrell- I think he is out of baseball, now. Freddy Valdez- just converted to pitching
