  1. It’s a great point.
  2. I’ve never said the brain does not control the body. My point is that “clutch “ is not a sustainable skill.
  3. We don’t need him in CF anymore. 2B is still an option, as we all know Arroyo is a healthy sneeze away from the IL. Reyes is raking in rehab. You might be right.
  4. Our minor league pitching depth was hurt by 5 pitchers graduating in the last year: Bello Crawford Winckowski Kelly Bernardino And a few called up, this year: Murphy Walter Jacques
  5. SP’s says Perales has the best raw stuff in the system. They rank Drohan the highest but do not say he has great stuff.
  6. It looks like he hasn’t been bad in this area. Nobody is calling him genius.
  7. Crappy game. Let’s see how they react, tomorrow.
  8. Add to that one of the best rule 5 pickups in years, and some trades that are starting to pay off in Wink & Wong. His IFA signings are looking promising, as well.
  9. I’m in total agreement. Even marginal prospects like Kelly, Walter and Murphy have shown some glimpses of promise. Not many thought Wink would amount to much, and he still may end up not doing much, but did he “develop” himself? I think Bernardino was considered a prospect, too. Looks like a nice get.
  10. I do think other systems have more highly regarded and ranked pitchers, but it’s hard to put a grade on Bloom’s development program, so early.
  11. He will be owed about $3.5M. We can pay all that. I’m not expecting anything good in return, but call up Reyes.
  12. I usually cut Cora some slack, thinking he knows more than I do, but there is one thing we all know that he can’t seem to grasp. Nick is right: there is no reason to play Kike at SS. If there is nobody on the roster that can okay SS, instead, insist on getting one or play Areoyo or Turner there- anybody but Kike at SS! He’s got incurable yips!
  13. Yes, I know. They were all acquired over 3.5 years ago. Blooms kids will come eventually.
  14. My statement about GMs and player injuries was not meant to be related to Barnes.
  15. GMs are usually judged in hindsight, even if they sign the healthiest player ever, only to see him get hurt. It’s still the GM’s fault.
  16. Nice game. Good to see the longball coming back for the Sox.
  17. Won't be long, now. Yanks in Sox rearview mirror is a pretty sight.
  18. I guess he should draft inferior players, just because they ar pitchers.
  19. I disagree. He drafts the players with the best chance at doing well, and they are everyday players. It does not mean he does not value pitching or have a strategy on finding pitchers. He found Whitlock, Winckowski, Schreiber, Bernadino, Kelly, Denlinger, Jacques and ... Drohan E R-C Rogers Monegro Troye Guerrero Liu Dobbins Blalock Bastardo Paez Hoppe Dean Gambrell I Coffey and more
  20. Someone would likely take him, if we paid his whole contract. Don't expect anything much in return.
  21. It helps hide Chang's low offense and improves SS defense, but I'm not sure about the loss in 2B defense offset. When Story comes back, Story at SS and Turner at 2B creates an awesome line-up: 1. Duran CF 2. Turner 2B 3. Devers 3B 4. Yoshida DH 5. Story SS 6. Verdugo RF 7. Duvall LF 8. Casas 1B 9. Wong C
  22. What clue tells us Devers is "not much of a team guy?"
  23. He's been know to give self-wedgies, from time-to-time. But he only does what he told to do by JH, as we all know.
  24. I'm not sure we can say "less interest in developing pitching." He certainly does not like to draft them highly or give the biggest IFA bonuses out to pitchers, but my guess is, developing pitchers is a very high priority for Bloom. It's the only way he can get some from our system. i like his drafts and IFA signings. The vast majority are too far away to see results, but some of the ones he traded for or added via Rule 5, have contributed, already. Bello is DD's guy, but I think Bloom's crew helped him develop well. Give it time. Much of the value is still speculative, but I think our young pitching is improving from where we have been over the last decade, despite no top pitching picks or IFA signings.
  25. With a name like that, he can might get us to forget Jeter Downs.
