  1. Other GMs know this, but maybe one thinks they can “fix” him better than we can.
  2. They did play Chang. Plus, they don’t have to bench Kike, in fact he seems to be heating up his bat. The moves suggested were Reyes or Hamilton at SS, and Kike could play 2B or CF (before Duval returned.)
  3. Yorke went 2-4, tonight with an HR and BB. Rafaela 2-3w BB Meidroth 3-4 w 2B Mayer 1-4 w HR Kavadas and Hickey went 0-9 w 6 Ks.
  4. As was the JD deal, the Bogey opt out extension, the Nate extension, bringing Back Pearce and not Kimbrell or Kelly…
  5. Many of us felt Kike would be okay at SS, worried about Arroyo staying healthy at 2B and were more or less okay with Chang as the back-up. Many never heard of Valdez. The idea was for these three to bridge us to Story’s return. IMO, it wasn’t a bad plan, but once things became obvious, the only change in plans was Reyes and Valdez. Playing Kike at only SS became the unmovable rock- like Dugo only in LF until the Pham trade suddenly made it ok for him to play RF. I’m not sure what other options are out there, but to me, how can playing Reyes or Hamilton at SS for a while not tried? Talk about head scratchers. My scalp is raw.
  6. There was a lot of talk about this when we made the trade. The trade was great. The extension but us in the ass and more body parts I should not mention.
  7. Throwing shadows on our eyes Leaves us helpless, helpless, HELL-plus.
  8. Not all fans live and care about just the present, either. Of course it matters, a lot, but it’s not everything. The part that might matter most to JH is the overall sense that most fans are losing hope for the future, too.
  9. Quite the sag, too.
  10. Is the Final Jeopardy?
  11. Agreed. Let the kid play. When Duvall returns, he may sit a few games v lefties but not like a straight platoon, IMO.
  12. Kinda like every GM since early Theo.
  13. Yup! I knew we had some serious rebuilding to do but thought it could be done in less than 5 years with continued prudent spending.
  14. No, but other GMs do otherwise. How well these additions do years from now will likely be realised- for good, bad or meh, after Bloom is gone.
  15. What a winner!
  16. Some other team will likely find out.
  17. Still, a “head scratcher!”
  18. What is the reason for not giving Hamilton a shot? Anyone asked Bloom?
  19. Hope he is more than just a “flash.”
  20. If that was the extent of the bad and somewhat large contract players left behind, I’d say NOT BAD!
  21. Kike would be okay at2B and is best in CF. His bat seems to have ticked up slightly, recently, but not nearly enough.
  22. Top 5 fWAR pitchers on the 2022 Sox: In order Hill Schreiber Wacha Pivetta Whitlock (Bello was the first pre-Bloom pitcher on the list at#6.) This year, it’s all on Bloom.
  23. They weren’t “bad” either, and Hill made half of what Richards and Kluber made. Wacha and Hill were not the reason we sucked last year. They earned their $12M combined. If fingers are to be pointed, maybe the fact the Bello and Pivetta both had higher fWARs than Nate is more worthy of scrutiny. We paid Sale and Nate a huge percent of our budget, yet Bloom is blamed for signing Wacha, Hill and trading scraps forPivetta. Bloom deserves blame for Kluber, Richards and Perez x 2, but going 2 for 5 on bargain signings is not bad or the problem. The problem was our high priced players declined or got hurt or both. This year, the problem was spending almost everything in offense and the pen. That’s all on Bloom and JH.
