  1. I'd prefer a better one, and we got one. By fangraph's projections, which I said I disagree with, he's actually a #1.
  2. Agreed, but for now, I think Bello is the #4.
  3. There were stings attached with Breggie. Yes, it was widely reported the Sox bid against themselves only for Masa. We might have gotten him for $12M x 4 had Bloom waited... maybe even less. We have seen what waiting does, though.
  4. IMO, safer than Eaton, although Cora might disagree. It's Brez who counts on this choice.
  5. Hamilton, Gray and Sogard! (More than enough after we add an infielder.)
  6. But then the media hypes it up as Cora looking at possibly moving Story to 2B. Story pouts and throws a tantrum. Brez steps in and steps on his own two feet, and Story demands a trade.
  7. He put his money where his mouth is and signed Ranger and is paying $20M+ for Gray and Contreras. He's just not spending it on the guys you wanted, so he's a liar. The budget is $50M more than 2023, despite dumping Devers. It's all relative, when it comes to revenue rank vs budget rank, but not on this. We differ in our views and optimism. I respect your positions but think you are overly negative.
  8. I think Hicks' best days are in the past. I think Moran and Watson have much better upside potential, despite little or no ML experience. Of course, someone who has already done it, has to be viewed as having the ability to repeat it. Since Moran is out of options and Watson is Rule 5, both are like Hicks. They cannot be sent to AAA, but only the IL or be traded or DFAd. Uberstine and Drohan have options. Of all these 5, I think Moran might have the best chance at having a big year or next 2 years. Just my opinion. I'd DFA Eaton with the idea that we will be adding an infielder and eaton is our #7 OF'er and maybe #3 or #4 at 3B.
  9. If he felt like he did "enough" I don't see it as being dishonest, just wrong.
  10. If Lorenzen can get $8M/1, maybe guys like Crawford, Sandoval and Harrison are worth more than we think.
  11. Hard to know, but we are both happy Breggie in not with the $175M/5. The "communication" did not keep us from getting Ranger.
  12. Yes, and when it comes to "communication" with BorA$$, all bets are off. This wasn't Brez sitting down with Breggie and fumbling his words and intentions.
  13. Good point, and for once a plan B or K, whatever it was, looked pretty damn good.
  14. I think DD lands Bregman, because I seriously doubt $10-15M over 3 years was about JH saying no. Now, if JH is the one saying "DO NOT GIVE no Trade Clauses," then maybe my opinion changes, but I'm not sure Breggie says no, if we matched the Cubs on everything except that clause. I think he'd be in a Sox uniform with DD. Maybe, someday, we'll be glad we have Ranger not Breggie, just like nobody talking about wishing Bogey was here, anymore.
  15. Lying requires intent to be dishonest. I think he really feels like he's giving an effort to win. Even when he cut spending, he felt the product was better than it was. Also, he would not replace Kimbrel & Kelly in 2019, but that budget was bigger than 2018. You say, "He wasn't trying." He was thinking, "I'm spending more now than last year, so how dare you say that!" The 2020, even without Betts was not bad on paper, if Price, Sale, ERod and others actually played, and JD didn't have a WTF season. Then, 2021 happened and just emboldened JH into thinking this cheaper way was still "trying" enough to not call him a liar. Fred, I'm a lot more like you than I sound. I've been pissed off, bigtime. I called this all a "sham" and been criticized for saying that. He could, should and can spend more- way more. I wish he would. The reasons and evidence is there to support that position. I get it, really- I do. I think I just try to see the whole picture- not that you don't. I think every owner could spend more and way more. Some owners who have less revenue than JH have more money than he does. They all look at profits and what is appropriate spending differently. I don't expect uniformity and everyone to spend exactly proportionately to their revenue ranking. JH brought this team 4 rings, and while that does not put him above criticism, I'm glad as hell he took the team over and hired the right guys and spent enough money to get us to glory 4 times. I have hopes we get one for the thumb, and I love how this team is shaping up and improving. There are still reasons to be upset and pessimistic, but I see improvement. I see broken strategies changing. I see a strong focus on pitching from top to bottom, and I like what I'm seeing, despite some moments of frustration. I'm not going to look at nearly everything through the lense of negativity. We are getting better. We haven't been able to say that for a while.
  16. I forgot all about him when I posted my top 5 DFA (trade for nothing) list.
  17. I think it should be Hicks, but it won't be. I think we trade for a 3Bman or maybe 2Bman and DFA Eaton.
  18. Agreed. Even if you think it, just shut the "F" up!
  19. Just don't ever ask Cora to even broach the subject to Story. Maybe I'm not sensitive enough to player's egos, but Story already played 2B, so the inferior defender, Bogey would not be asked to move, so just do it, now. Yes! Add a SS and NOT a 2Bman!
  20. Ultimately, it's what's done and how it translates from paper to field, but these guys talked the talk and walked it back.
  21. Better to move the speedster to another team.
  22. Yup. His D metrics fell off a cliff moving from the Trop to Fenway.
  23. I thought this was about revenue and greed.
