  1. He'll have to have a very good 2024 to get a QO.
  2. Depth added might be a returning Duvall type. If Turner bolts and Yoshida is seen as the DH and 5th OF'er, yes on adding an OF'er or keeping Dugo.
  3. I'd love to see it happen, or Urias. Maybe I'm dreaming to hope for both.
  4. We don't know jack about their plans.
  5. He has the same wRC+ as Devers and is very close to leading the team. 126 Turner 124 Casas & Duran (344 PAs) 123 Yoshida & Devers 122 Duvall (211 PAs) 105 Dugo 100 Refsnyder (198) He's third in RBI, but not on pace for much more than Bogey and JD gave us last year.
  6. I have not seen better play from our rested players in August and September, over the last few years under Cora.
  7. I would not extend Dugo. He's not a very good defensive RF'er. He's not improving on O. His attitude seems to be an issue. I'd trade him plus a prospect or two for a decent SP'er, and I'd be fine going into 2024 with this OF: LF: Yoshida (DH?)/Duran/Refsnyder CF: Rafaela/Duran RF: Abreu/Rafaela/Refsnyder (Add some ML depth in the OF, like Tapia.)
  8. I'd be okay with that, but I'd prefer superior RF D, if possible.
  9. On resting players too much vs not at all or in between?
  10. I still like Pivetta as the 5th starter, but he usually starts out slowly. but not 2021 2022 7.84 first 5 starts 4.13 last 28 2023 6.30 first 8 starts 3.65 last 2 stars (2.67 after first 8 starts- mostly in long relief) That being said, I'm fine with pivetta in the pen, if we add two solid SP'er.
  11. Maybe not as much as they do for horrible D.
  12. Who is "the Hernandez?"
  13. I'm always for adding pitchers, and from the top- not 5th starter types. I was just trying to give a justification for their choice. It does make some sense, to me. The longer term positional players will still have value in year 5 (Story, Yoshida...)
  14. Maybe somewhere in between would be ideal.
  15. Okay. Good to know.
  16. True, but I think they subtract positional value from DHs, too.
  17. I have said I think they will have Houck in the rotation, next year. I'm hoping they add two solid SP'ers, but I could certainly see them using Crawford as a SP'er. Even without Houck in the pen, the pen looks solid (assuming a rotation of Sale, Bello, ____, Pivetta and Houck): Jansen, Martin, Winckowski, Schreiber, Bernardino/Joely(?) (Kelly, Robertson, Jacques, Guerrero, Politi, Fernandez, Denlinger) Whitlock, Crawford (SP?), Murphy (Walter, Mata, Drohan, Liu, Nav Belle, Wikelman, Gambrell, Bastardo)
  18. We don't know, if it will change, but I do think the budget will grow, next year, and not the pen seems all set, and the everyday player slots seem filled, as well as having some depth, so what is left to spend on? C: Wong, McGuire and a solid farm of catchers (Scott, Teel, Hickey, Brannon, RHern...) 1B: Casas (Dalbec, Jordan...) 2B: urias, Reyes (EValdez, Yorke...) SS: Story, Reyes (Mayer, DHam...) 3B: Devers Reyes (Meidroth, Bonaci...) LF: Duran, Yoshida, Refsnyder (Rosier...) CF: Rafaela, Duran RF: Dugo, Abreu DH: Yoshida, Refsnyder (Dalbec, Meidroth, Kavadas...) I'd be fine without adding a single everyday player or pen arm. I know losing Turner and Duvall will probably mean we add one piece, but we don't HAVE to do it. This is not to say I think JH and Bloom will spend mostly on the rotation. I never know what they will do.
  19. Actually, it has 3 lights. (Two about 50 feet from each other.)
  20. He has to know this has been a weak area since 2018. For some reason, he has chosen to fill the many other areas of need, first. To me, that makes sense in terms of this being a 5 year plan. Why sign a high priced pitcher year 1 or 2, or even 3, if you are building up for year 5? All the one year deals support the idea that the plan was never to "win now." This is just my opinion, and the other side has some good points, too.
  21. That's "the corner" of the whole state of Maine, as several major roads cross there.
  22. He visits my corner, frequently.
  23. I've been calling for more pitching for 50 years.
  24. Isn't there a time limit on rehab assignments?
  25. Yes, that's why I said "at the time" they were highly regarded.
