I do, too, but I like Houck, Whitlock and Crawford more for pen duty than Pivetta. He seems to give more inning, even if maybe not as good as others.

Like I said, some of my numbers are probably way off. You are right: he should get more money and the same or more years from some dumb GM like Cashman.

GMs do often pay a lot more based on most recent numbers, but I do think they may be cautious with Snell. 4.1 BB/9 career and 5.1 in 2023. 1.25 WHIP career and 1.26 in 2023. Yes, that shiny 2.52 ERA screams of greatness, as did his league leading 1.89 ERA way back in 2018, but in between, his numbers were not close to Cy Young, and the sample size is his 4 more recent seasons prior to 2023: 3.85 ERA, but only a 104 ERA+ 1.257 WHIP 3.9 BB/9 85 GS out of a possible 114 414 IP out of maybe 660 at a 200 IP/yr rate. I want this guy, but it's hard to know what GM are going to offer, this winter. Someone will likely offer way more than Bloom does.

I think all of us are very concerned that Yoshida may underperform his contract, especially since we usually expect the best to be years 1, 2 and 3. The word was, our scouts we having wet dreams over this guy for years and years. I guess, at some point, you have to trust your scouts or replace them. Ultimately, it seems it was Bloom who made the final call on Yoshi and Story. Both still have several years left to make good or salvage what they have started out producing, but it's really too early to make the call on Yoshi. I'm not sure my theory is correct, but if the team's plan was to fill up the foundation of everyday players, and then add SP'ers right before "the window opens," then maybe we can see why the moves are not as "odd" as it seems.

Bloom "let leave" is a loaded phrase. Betts: not Bloom's doing or idea. Schwarber: a rental who got overpaid by PHI. JD: his time had come, despite this year's resurgence and time on the IL. Bogey: his HR power seems to be sapped and has been for 3 years. Not replacing them is a legit point, but Turner & Duvall have done well. Let's see who we have in 2024: Urias, Rafaela & Abreu? Upticks from Casas, Devers & Story? Anyway, without adding 3 solid pitchers, it might not matter how many HRs we hit.

I'm extremely concerned about Yoshi, too. Yes, the numbrs are real- some just look worse than others.
