  1. Everybody agrees. I doubt it would have mattered, unless you go total hindsight.
  2. The Weissification of the Yanks.
  3. I was actually thinking of suggesting Story try bunting for a hit. Better chance for a hit. Lesser chance for a K.
  4. You think this team was a .550 team? It never sounds like it.
  5. That's the $50M question. If JH truly wants to stick to a plan for more than 4 years, instead of swinging wildly from one extreme to another, maybe he sticks with Bloom a bit longer, but if he does can him, I doubt he brings in a wild spender with bent on trading a bunch prospects. I think he will seek a balanced GM, with a history of doing well with big signings and building up the full system, not just the 26.
  6. Yes. Every year a team loses, you can look back and choose the bums, add up the money, then choose a guy we shoulda- coulda signed and blah, blah, blah. The fact is, Bloom signed a bunch of guys who worked out well, this year and last, but he swung and missed at the most important signing: SP. He coulda-shoulda spent more on the rotation. For whatever reason, he did not. The tax line is just a partial excuse. He had enough funds to get a real pitcher and chose not to.
  7. No. The game threads all prove Cora has lost every single game and tried to lose some of our wins.
  8. It seems like more and more, each season. I'm thinking we are due for going over the tax line, and JH must be feeling the anger and angst, if that matters to him, at all. I think we go over $48M (which I figure gets us to the tax line.) He may spend right up to the second line, which might be $67-68M.
  9. Cora is to blame for every single Sox loss. - brown hats.
  10. There is a posse.
  11. Too bad they did away with the shift. He could play a whole side of the field and the others could try to do as well as he could by himself on the other side. BTW, I think his hit tool will be fine. He will likely be streaky, and maybe have some long slumps as he struggles to adjust or readjust, but he'll be fine.
  12. I'm waiting for someone to say, "Now, that we know he can hit..."
  13. He hit into the DP? Do the players ever get the blame, or should we give them all participation trophies?
  14. Understandable. But, Mondesi? Chump change for a position we actually needed, but the guy stretched 1 month rehab into a year's vacation.
  15. No, but if we pass TOR & TEX, we don't have to pass SEA.
  16. Maybe because he will likely have $48M to spend and all the everyday slots are filled.
  17. The other thing is, we play TOR and TEX 3 times, each.
  18. If we can make Bello our #3, we'd be well off. We can then handle our 4 and 5 going 4 innings most of the time. One thing of note, although Pivetta has not be all that consistent, he has give IP as our 5th starter. 5.1 in 2021 (second best on staff to Nate) 5.4 in 2022 (just 0.1 behind Nate and Wacha) 5.1 in 2023 (behind Bello and 0.1 below the league avg.)
  19. I feel the same way. Just one would be enough to get me into the content category, but 2 -3 would make us real contenders.
  20. I wasn't downplaying Troy, but Bloom has been here for 4 years, so trying to find a waiver guy to match a 7 yr bWAR is not a fair comp. If Schreiber continues, as is, he could pass Troy after 7 yrs.
  21. Troy was with the Sox for 7 yrs. Schreiber 3.6 bWAR is 2.1 yrs. Bernardino 1.2 in 1/2 yr. Ref 1.3 in 2 yrs. Arroyo 2.2 in 3.5 yrs (I might be missing someone.)
  22. Hard to know for sure if Dan D could have built a winner under JH. Theo was awesome.
  23. Sustain a 3-4 year window? Maybe, it means between windows, we don't finish in last place 3 out of 4 years? Because, we still keep a steady flow of maturing prospects?
