  1. I agree. I guess it comes down to this: are we all okay with not adding a RH'd bat to the OF and going with this on opening day? DH Yoshida LF Duran-Refsnyder (Yoshida as depth) CF Rafaela- Abreu (Duran as depth) RF Verdugo- Abreu (Refsnyder as depth) How about this: trade Dugo and don't add a RH'd bat in the OF? DH Yoshida LF Duran- Refnsyder (Yoshida in LF more often) CF- Rafaela (Duran in CF more often) RF- Abreu (Refsnyder in RF more often) (Rosier on the farm as depth) OR Trade Dugo and sign Duvall" DH Yoshida LF Duran-Refsnyder (Duvall as depth) CF Rafaela (Duvall as depth) RF Duvall- Abreu (Ref as emergency depth) Note: if we sign Duvall to what Dugo would make in arb, it would be no added cost to the budget.
  2. So frustrating to watch this game. We've gotten the first or second man on, every inning. multiple men on base many innings. Men in scoring position with 0, 1 or 2 outs. We can't buy a key hit. One swing of the bat by Jay and bam- 2 runs.
  3. To me, Reyes and Urias are about average. I'd focus all our resources and SP and maybe a little on LH RP'er and RH'd bat for the OF. 2B is too low on my priority list.
  4. Agreed. Even holding down 2 OF slots for all 3 to fill may prove to be a mistake. Having Yoshi start at FT DH does allow for him to move back to LF, if one of the 3 fails, but Refsnyder is not a true 4th OF'er. He is limited to platoon value, only, and the short end of that, to boot. We'd need to keep Dugo, or extend him as notin wants, or sign a guy like Duvall.
  5. Hard to quantify as rankings are so fluid and arbitrary. We did beat #4 Clemson way back in 2022. Maybe 1984 beating LSU. I'm not sure beating Tennessee in 2004 rises to this level. It's all relative.
  6. Maybe, Probably. I did say last winter was Bloom's make or break winter, so I'm not sure JH saw it much differently than I did. I hate watching us finish in last as much as you and others. That is totally separate from how I feel about the direction of the team. I'd prefer finishing in last and having hopes for the future than finishing in last or even 4th place and having little hope for improvement. I could care less if you and others have little care about the future. I do think JH cares more about the farm and foundation than you do, or he'd have fired Bloom after 2022. I'm still waiting for your answer about why my positing the standings when we are doing better is an issue. You never answer, then blame me for not giving a clear answer to a problem I don't know even is or should exist. Please tell me what is wrong with doing that. While your at it, answer my other question: You said you stopped watching baseball because it is watered down, but after Bloom's firing, you said you were going to start watching again. What is that all about? Is the league not watered down, anymore, or was it all about Bloom in the first place and not about watered down ball? (I don't expect a true answer- only deflections and diffusions.)
  7. I meant you enjoy throwing it in my face. Not surprising, to me.
  8. Actually, I did not list Wikelman, because he is a DD prospect. I only listed Bloom guys.
  9. I missed placing Wikelman in the 2024 group. Kavadas and others listed on the bottom lines were meant to be only longshots, who would have to make improvements to make the bigs.
  10. I'm glad my overoptimism brings you so much joy.
  11. Duran would be okay in LF and better than Yoshida and Refsnyder. I'm not sure I hand a FT OF slot to Rafaela and Abreu without having an insurance piece in place, in case either struggles. I'm fine with counting on one of the two to hold one slot (CF or RF.) I'd plan so both could be FT'ers without squeezing a good player to the bench.
  12. Story is an excellent SS. Why do we keep moving people off their best position and refuse to move some failures at one position to another? Reyes and Urias should be enough at 2B, and their D is not bad. Keep Rafaela in CF, and our D up the middle is night and day better than 2023's.
  13. I don't disagree, but your focus seems more on Yoshida's shortcomings. It just seems extreme, to me.
  14. They "know now?"
  15. Such is the life of a major sports GM. They knew this when they got in the profession.
  16. Fair answer. To me, I think DD had more time, and probably could have offered an aceptable amount earlier on, but yes, if JH refused to go along with it, there is no blame for either.
  17. So, a poll of what the majority thinks my beliefs are matter more than what I know my beliefs are? Yes, I value the farm and foundation more than you. I've also said we don't know for sure how good Bloom's farm is, and that is mostly speculative. I'd prefer a farm most think looks very good to one most think looks pretty bad. That does not make me a "Bloom guy." I'm not sure why you are so fixated on confirming that belief of yours. Of course someone who values the foundation more than the here and now will view things differently, but why does everything have to be so black and white with you? You either are a "Bloom guy" or not. There can never be an in between. Why? I like some of what he did and dislike or are neutral on some other things. I've consistently graded his overall grade around a "C." Why is thinking a guy is around a C a "Bloom guy?" I admit, I never disliked him as much as you, and to you, that's all it apparently takes to throw meaningless and false labels on people. What you are doing is no different than me saying you "hate Cora." The differences is, I respected your response that said you did not hate him, and I apologized and changed my opinion about your position. You can't do the same. You know me better than I do, in your eyes. How dare anyone try to do that to you, however.
  18. It's a big test, for sure. I would not bet on ND, but maybe the home field will help pull an upset. Maybe Ohio ST are not as good as their ranking.
  19. Here are some relevant BTV values: 71.3 Luzardo 3 yrs of control 50.2 Perez 6 yrs 35.9 Garrett 5 23.9 Cabrera 5 8.6 Rogers 3 Sox 59.2 Mayer 51.4 Casas 41.3 Anthony 30.6 Houck 28.9 Bleis 20.0 Crawford 19.0 Yorke 17.9 Rafaela 12.6 Yoshida (I doubt the Marlins value him this highly or at all.) 10.3 Duran 10.0 Verdugo 1 6.4 Schreiber 6.3 Winckowski 5.0 Drohan 4.2 Peralez 4.2 Romero 3.9 Wikelman 3.3 Abreu The Marlins do need OF help, but I doubt the value one year of Dugo highly. Bleis is too far away, so it would likely take a package that involved Duran and or Anthony. I can't see getting Luzardo without giving up Mayer or Casas. This was accepted on BTV: Mayer, Duran and Drohan for Luzardo Anthony, Duran, Yorke and Drohan for Luzardo Anthony & Duran for Perez Duran, Rafaela, Yorke, Drohan for Perez Duran & Bleis for Garrett Rafaela, Yorke & Drohan for Garrett Duran, Drohan, Perales & Romero for Cabrera
  20. It kind of shocked me to see Bobby Dee in the line-up. Shopping for a trade?
  21. I agree on all in for Yamamoto, plus he is apparently good friends with Yoshida, so maybe he can help Yoshi acclimate better to MLB, and vice versa. I'm also on board with trading for the second solid SP'er, because the only young FA SP'er is Julio Urias- NO THANKS! Here are the next youngest SP'ers on the market: (ages per spotrac) 27.9 Flaherty 28.1 Brad Keller 29.2 Giolito 29.5 S Lugo & Severino 30.2 Nola 30.5 ERod 30.7 Montgomery 30.8 Snell 31.7 Lorenzen 32.3 Wacha & Heany 32.5 Stroman 32.8 Clevinger 33.8 Gray & K Hendricks 33.9 Stripling 34.8 Paxton 35.4 Kershaw 35.8 Gibson 36.0 Cobb 36.4 Lynn 37.7 Cueto 39.9 Morton Signing an older guy to a shorter deal, or a 32-34 guys to a high price 3-4 year deal might work. I don't see any under 30 guys that jump out at me, and the 30-31 year olds will likely get deals too long for my liking.
  22. If there is one thing Bloom has done for the next GM, it was to simplify the task at hand: We need 2-3 SP'ers. All the rest are minor needs. I'd give runways to Rafaela and Abreu, too, but we do need one vet in reserve, "just in case." That could be Verdugo, or IMO Duval (and trade Verdugo or Duran.)
  23. Yes, Duran did get better, and someday, maybe even during 2024, he might be a plus in CF, but Rafaela is already a huge plus on D in CF, so I'd want Duran to prove he can, first, and not pencil him into CF, right now.
  24. This is soxprospects.com's projection- not mine. I'm not sure why they list bringing Duval and Paxton back.
  25. Yes, you are bailing again on answering why it matters to you, and what it is you think I did wrong. How can I answer when I don't know what the problem is?
