this is my new favorite thread.
50 cent on the bench is pure gold. maybe even platinum. f***ing stpehcurry. always finds a way to fit that weiner in. dude kills it.
if we hit more HR's there would be less people on base. less people on base means there would be less decisions for buttermaker to make. less decisions by buttermaker means less base running blunders. stop hitting balls in the gap. start hitting balls over the wall.
exit velo + launch angle = thanks Obama.
i dont think anyone demanded that they wait until september. i believe some of us thought that's when it would happen. it really took panda being gone, frazier going to the EE, and then it was only a matter of time.
the runner wasn't going on the swinging strike 1.
the defense was playing bunt but wasnt selling out on the stirke 1 swing. that said, in the million games of baseball i have watched i cannot recall a single time that the infield charged for a bunt and the batter slapped a single through.
if the bunt was attempted for the first strike and then taken off i would deem that as almost acceptable. but it was the other way around. did JF really think holt was going to ambush a pitch? again...either have him bunt full commit...or CY should have been the batter and holt should have been the runner.
on average they get 13% of ball/strike calls wrong. 13%. each team throws ~ 150 pitches per game. i'm not a math savant but thats like 5 million bad calls a game (or ~40). that's A LOT.
ROBOT UMPS NOW.
it is time.
actually there is a 3rd option. holt could have pinch run for Moreland and CY could have hit in that spot.
as for the bunting...why swing at strike 1 and then attempt bunt at strike 2????
i guess it would have depended on who ended up winning in extras as CY provided the tying run already.
also, everyone thrown at at any base seems to fall on the base coaches. certainly buttermaker was waving JBj home on that particular play. JBj's intelligent slide to the point side of homeplate forced the catcher to try and make a quick tag which made him miss the ball. the throw was a one hopper and should have easily been picked. but he was rushing the swipe tag and forgot to catch the ball first. kudos bigtime to JBj.
fair point. at the time i was recognizing the tough AB he was involved in but it was not surprising it ended in a K.
the swing at strike 1 and bunt at strike 2 is on the manager. if we are going to sacrifice, then sacrifice. did holt miss a sign on strike 1? or was JF late in making his decision to sacrifice?
pinch hitting Holt for vazquez last night was an absolute horrific managerial decision. even more so when he didn't try bunting strike 1 (he swung).
last night is an example of us winning in spite of JF.
