I think we would have to give moose more years and more money. Would prefer to go 1 year deal (even knowing it may be higher 1 year $) and wait for a better FA option in future years or see how Travis grows after another year...

no need. i believe you. i had them as a 90+ win team each of those years. the only Ben move i was 100% against was not getting Lester LTC. i blame the last place finishes more on the players and on field coaching then on Ben. IMO he built a great farm. in everyone's opinion he was GM of a world championship team. perhaps he gets too much blame for those last place finishes. perhaps i give him too much credit.

you are basically right on. i think the only difference is if he had leapt (is leapt a word? leaped?) over the fence and his feet are over the wall then caught the ball before his feet touched the ground it would be a HR. but in the other nights example - because his feet were still above the "playing field" when the ball made contact with his glove it's an out.

this is a great post on this. the only thing i would add is that both his feet were over the playing field when he makes contact with the ball. i believe that is the rule.

unfortunately i believe the days of base coach's lighting up the multi millionaires are all but over. that needs to come from a teammate. who on the Sox is that person? you should blame them....not ruben ammaro or buttermaker....

do you watch other games? other teams players do it all the time. it's instinct i suppose. i dont think the first base coach is to blame. i never see them giving the slide hand signal.....

come on. really? these are MLB players. they need to have the first base coach tell them to "run through the bag" on a batted ball? there are things to crucify the former Philles GM for....this is not one of them.

i'm not stating i agree or disagree with anything you say here. i can only offer that every single one of us probably felt the same about one Nomar Garciaparra in 2004.
