    we probably shouldnt even bother playing the games if we make the postseason. just forfeit. because our #9 hitter "doesnt show up". so i guess mookie doesnt show up for postseason either (269 / 729). X really doesnt show up. 214 / 654 mitch is almost as bad. 236 / 702

    he's had 25 AB's in 2 series. i dont think you can judge him on that yet. but most offense stats take a dip in the postseason because you are facing the best pitchers. so % wise his dropoff compared to his in-season stats is probably right in line with every other ballplayer.......

    yup. but i agree with you...we have him so hopefully Price can get us a parade. he has been throwing the ball very well this season other then ducking the yankees. i believe this is our "go for it" year. and we will need price to be Ace for it to happen.

    especially when some of us were screaming to sign Cueto for 1/2 the $$$ it cost for Price..... imagine how much better off the 2016-2022 red sox would be if DD went that route.....

    hopefully Cora coddles Sale like he is trying to coddle the long relief arms in the pen that he refused to go to. something tells me bullets left in Sales arm in October will be more important than saving valzquez & johnsons bullets......

    he's only had 2 seasons that i would call his pitching "elite talent" . i think that is what SnC meant. unless you are OK with 7 years / 217MM for an "innings eater"?

    im hoping this is the year. he's had 2 of them in his career: 2010 & 2012. unfortunately we are paying for him for 2016 - 2022. Clay also had 2 of them in his career: 2010 & 2013 fortunately we only paid for 2016. some just cannot see the point.

    oh i would not argue against price being 3x the talent that clay has been over their careers. and as i've tried to explain my math comment was not about talent but about price / years. that was my original point.... if you were NOT OK with Clay at 1 year for $13MM...then are you OK with Price at 7 years for $217MM. 217 is way more than 3x 13. that was my point about the math.

    1 x 13MM = 13 7 x 31MM = 217 217 / 13 = 16.69 16.69 > 3x (Price is 3x the pitcher Clay)

    not really great either outside of Keuchel and verlander borderline. but when you put 8 runs up in each of the first 2 games you arent worrying about swing and miss stuff.

    dont get me wrong. i love erod. he is actually my favorite current red sox pitcher. i just dont think we have a parade with holt playing 2b defensively and it is not a stretch to think his offensive numbers will dip. and i think DD has put us in the position that 2018 is the year we have to go for it. but again, now that our depth took a big hit with wright on the DL...i withdraw the proposal.....

    in a normal year i wouldnt. but i honestly feel our window is very small and this might be our best chance at a parade. plus Baez has years of control. but.....see below response to FJ... now that Wright is broken again i have to hang up the phone on this deal. dammit.
