    we basically already had everyone from last years team under contract (veterans) or team control (the "kids"). i'm not sure what room for "turnover" we had this off season. the most perplexing move to me was actually re-signing the WS MVP. i didnt think we needed to do that and certainly would have rather seen that $$$ spent on pitching (relief). outside of that....i really cannot complain that we didn't trade one of our kids (beni, devi, Xbo, betts, JBj) for RP depth. i am not complaining about the Evo contract either. i thought it was a fair contract. we certainly couldnt move any of our $$$ contracts outside of Sale (pre re-sign) but he was a keeper on that originally deal. no one was taking pedroia, price, porcello, castillo, sandoval contracts.

    all fair points. and i will agree with you when/if our W/L woes fall on the BP or light hitting catcher. but i do not see any moves we could have done regarding SPing. i like our rotation. nay, i LOVE our rotation. i do not expect another 5 in a row SP disaster the rest of the season.

    i know you didnt rip devers. i am just looking at the slow start and trying to see who you would blame. we lost due to SPing and throw in a few Devi errors. not because we stood pat on hitters and RPing. so i'm just trying to see what the hindsight is for the 1-4 start that is entirely on the starting pitching. what catcher did you want to get? i was hot for realmutto but we didnt have what it took to get him. was there another catcher you were advocating for? a FA that some of the SP $$$ could have been used for?

    which Starting Pitcher from our current staff did you want to replace this past offseason? and with whom? or was it one of our fielders? devers? who did you want playing 3b?

    would having Kimbrel on the team have solved the first week woes? i think that is what you were advocating? what other off season moves did you want to make?

    i agree with you that he wont get the same return. i just dont think FO will do it this season due to PR backlash from fans.

    i dont know if i would do it this trade deadline... but next year? definitely. then we can just sign him at the end of that season and get him back (if we want).

    last season my avatar made it from game 1 to the parade and retired. this year's gal couln't even last a week. time to change it up.

    thats a bummer for this kid. coming off a great offensive rookie season was interested to see how the sophomore season would go. IMO should just go straight to surgery. throw away this season and come back 100% 2020.

    Mookie Betts tore a ligament in his left knee jogging to Starbucks. April Fools. David Price vs Aaron Brooks Price has to be our stopper tonight and get us 7 innings / 2 runs. Brooks is a righty so i expect all teh lefty's to be in the lineup. perhaps we see swi catching tonight?

    if i were you i would have hope for a good...very good...season. the team looked ready and the players seemed to be having fun. as for the Sox, i expect our SP'ing to be better than what we showed in the first handful of games. i think most would agree with that assessment....
