Last night I was pretty sure the Sox would lose because of the weak hitting and was delighted to be proven wrong. I still think the hitting is weak, but love that Uehara did not have his good splitter and quickly gave up 3 singles before Maddon could pull him. Hernandez single was weak, but Bogaerts and especially Beni had solid singles. Then Betts struck out, and the Cubs went into their own comedy routine of wild pitches and bad throws, thank goodness.
Given my almost continuous griping about this team's underperformance so far, I now look forward to this series with some excitement because short term--it's a very, very long season--is potentially at hand. We will go with Porcello, Sale, Pomeranz, and Wright against the Orioles' Bundy, Asher, Gausman, and Jimenez.
I do not foresee a slugfest if only because I don't think our guys have it in them. So far we have lost slugfests except for beating the Jays 8-7.
